    my unit has shipped already.

    • how does the cashrewards work, for which store do you have to select?

      • +1

Where would it get fixed? Would you need to send it back to the US?

Edit: just googled it and there is no international warranty. You would have to post this back to the US to get free repairs on the warranty. Too risky for me give how fragile these things are.

        • +1

given how terrible is dji warranty, I wouldn't care too much…

  • +1

Urgh why do you do this! Stellar price, essentially could play around with it and sell it for no loss.

    • +1

Crash it and have a total loss! 😀

  • if you buy DJI refresh though you can buy it to cover a different area from where you buy it. http://www.dji.com/service/djicare-refresh/info#s4

So it looks like you could buy it in the US and get it serviced in Australia?

    • Refresh is loss/crash insurance, nothing to do with warranty.

      • cool. i will drop it when it fails then. Thats fine….crash insurance is going to be more likely scenario.

  • +2

    Oops I ordered one 😁

    • +1

      Oops me too!

      • That's what happened to me too … I really wasn't going to get one…

  • Not sure about refurb but it is a good price so upvote..

  • +4

Aaaaaaaannnnnd there goes $888 on a Friday morning!

    • Same !

      Time to work now !

  • Do we need any type licence to fly drone in Australia? Or are we free to fly any place this drone has cameras too.

  • how much do the batteries cost? what are the must have items… trying to work out bottom line cost…

    • WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE PACKAGE?

Refurbished models include everything that is found in a new package. Remote Controller, Drone, Camera, Battery, Charger, Cables, Props, Manual and Box all included.

      • +1

yeah was more thinking around what do I need to buy extra since this is not a Fly More Combo.

Eg a spare battery is probably a must…

        • A couple of spare batteries are a must. Maybe also a charger capable of charging multiple batteries.
Keep in mind, DJI's multi battery charger charges the batteries one at a time.
There are third party chargers which will charge in parallel.
I wouldn't recommend the fly more bundle, unless you can get it for the price of the two batteries it comes with.
The bag, whilst well made, is pretty pointless. It doesn't provide much protection and doesn't really fit anything more than the drone and remote control.

    • The fly more package includes a charger that accepts 4 batteries and auto charges them until full one at a time. It also includes 2 batteries and a nice carry bag which you really need.

  • damm. i got this over a spark fly more. are any of you going to get Dji refresh…let me know how you go

  • +5

Woke up from a really bad dream last night. And now I have a drone…… not sure if inception

  • argh, I just purchased the DJI spark fly more.

  • +2

the DJI osmo at around $440AUD is pretty good as well https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/DJI-Osmo-Handheld-Gimbal-System-...

    • Thanks, I pulled the trigger on this instead

  • +2

I would be onto this but with the new drone law amendments they quietly introduced, everything I have done since I got my Phantom 3 Advanced a few months ago, would be considered illegal: https://www.casa.gov.au/media-release/stronger-drone-safety-....

Any tiny helicopter landing pad now has a 5.5km exclusion zone, so this is practically all of Melbourne. I even flew in Kyneton a few weeks ago, country town that has a helipad and that would now be banned too. Ridiculous.

    https://droneflyer.com.au/

    • +3

“.. recreational drones weighing more than 100 grams must not be flown within 5.5 kilometres of non-controlled aerodromes or helicopter landing sites if it is clear aircraft are operating there.”

Only if there’s actually an aircraft clearly operating in the vicinity

      • +1

Which any sensible person would recall their drone if they saw one. That's what I do.

        • So why do people keep flying drones around airports?

        • +1

@Diji1: some people do for legitimate work and are authorised. The rest who aren't are just f*** tards.

    • Ridiculous.

That is SO ridiculous that they would restrict you playing with your radio control toy to remove the risk of a real helicopter crash. Ludicrous!

  • +1

Gah. I had to really work hard to talk myself out of buying this. I succeeded by adding two spare batteries, and plus the cost of DJI Care refresh to this.

    • +1

lol. 'Gah' is the first thing I thought to myself as well. Luckily I can't justify a new camera and this in the same month so I didn't have to try as hard as you.

  • The best deal is the fly more package which includes 3 batteries and is for a new unit. One battery is not enough so the actual comparison should be between one of these plus 2x batteries and then compare that against the best fly more package. The fly more package also includes a handy and good carry bag.

    • Fly more is not being sold at a reduced price. Better off buying batteries from China and get the blue yxc06 charger from China for $50 which does simultaneous charging. Included spare props are pointless as everyone will opt for the low noise props.

      • Thats my point, you should be comparing the price of everything you mention plus a nice carry bag and compare that against a FLY MORE combo.

        • The bag is rubbish. drone packs way too tight in there.

        • @BargainKen:

It packs just fine, everything fits without being bent. Point is if you buy this deal and buy the other accessories you will need to buy a bag and the cost must be factored when comparing both lots…

        • @ninetyNineCents: not really. the mavic is so small you just toss it in any old cloth bag (or tea towel) and stash it inside whatever day-pack you're taking for food/water etc. the official carry case is only useful if you're throwing it into the back of the car and not taking another bag. Phantoms on the other hand DEFINITELY need their own dedicated and decent backpack lol.

        • @ninetyNineCents: nah the gimbal globe feels like it's almost about to break that's how tight it is. The spark OEM bag is better and also mavic compatible.

        • @BargainKen:

You could throw it in any old bag, but one day something will break and you wont be happy. Packing any electronics with food and liquid is asking for trouble, one day you will make a mistake and the bottle will leak.

nah the gimbal globe feels like it's almost about to break that's how tight it is.

Do you mean the clear globe that clips over the gimbal / camera ?

I fail to see how you can say its going to break when its packed inside the carry bag.

I bought a vanguard alta sling for my mavic, after spending all that money on the mavic, whats a few more $$$ on a nice proper carry bag.

        • @ninetyNineCents: packed with everything else, very easily. 2 batteries, remote, other bits and pieces. Little too tight for my liking

You'd have to be a nutter to pack it with anything food or drink related.

        • @BargainKen:

Well our friend bohdud did say he packs it with food and drink.

      • Link for this?

      • Do you think this charger hub is just as good? https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/4-in1-Multi-Battery-Charger-Scre...

        • Google the YXC06.

        • @BargainKen: Glad you said to Google as came across these videos so I would be inclined to throw your blue one out;

          https://youtu.be/Pa2qZ7wuIiA

          https://youtu.be/6u59ZJ5yijI

I think I would rather use the original charger with what is basically an extender; https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/4-in1-Multi-Battery-Charger-Scre...

        • @dandandan: yep saw that one, mine came with ground pin on so no risk there. If you're in no rush, by all means get the hub. I have one, I just don't use it anymore. Sometimes if I want to do more then 3 batteries, then I use the hub.

        • @BargainKen: Thanks BargainKen, wasn't meaning to put your purchase down and appreciate the recommendation on this however I might err on the caution side on this one.

        • @dandandan: Not an issue mate, merely sharing my experiences. I had mine since around May and havent looked back on the DJI charger. Problem with these quads is they're just so damn addictive and those batteries just dont last that long, 15-20mins on average so having to wait over an hour for each battery to put the bird back in the air kinda sucks, hence why the parallel charger is so popular. 3 batteries charged and ready to rock in 1-1.5 hour is a godsend.

For all the horror stories you'll find plenty of success stories, the YXC chargers are nothing new and have been used on the P3 series with success for quite some time now. All the safety smarts of battery charging are actually in the battery itself, which pretty much relegates the charger you buy to nothing more then a 13.5V power supply with the mavic specific connector, thats why they're so cheap and batteries are so expensive, its nothing more then a power supply. The battery will draw as much current as required and will cut off drawing when its done, not the charger.

DJI included a parallel charger with the spark and I havent bothered with aftermarket chargers for that reason since it does the job.

  • +1

    Must…resist…

  • +2

    waiting for ebay sitewide 20%…

  • Despite the name, this isn't actually an official DJI outlet — Seller is Drone Nerds & uses the same name as DJI on other sites. A number of complaints regarding service and product quality too.

  • +1

    This or the Xiaomi?

  • do people use these? I don't see them anywhere, at least not in Melbourne…Can't really judge buying it and leave it to use it once a year..

    • Melbourne CBD is outlawed due to CASA regs. There are plenty of less densely populated parts though, and yeah people go there to fly.

If it's something you'd like, these are excellent quality aerial photography rigs - you can't build one anywhere near this price especially for the safety features they have.

  • Bought it. Been eyeing one. Early Xmas present LOL

  • Does anyone know if this can be bought in the US and brought into Australia?

  • This is such a good product but with the airspace rules, I’ve got no idea where I’d fly it.

  • Any idea if this is going to come with a AU plug? wishful thinking?

    • +1

Its a 8 plug. Can easily swap it out

    • +1

the DJI chargers take a standard figure-8 cable from the brick to the wall. you can get these for a dollar or two each.

      • thanks for the reply guys

  • +1

Are these units eligible for DJI Care Refresh?

    • want to know this as well

      • just add it to your contents insurance. cheaper and better cover anyway. NRMA definitely covers drones (has to be listed as portable sporting equipment). Others like Suncorp and Budgetdirect probably cover as well.

        • Yes. Or credit card insurance would probably cover damage to it as well.

        • @t3chshopper: cc insurance is junk isually. They claim the market value is way lower than actual, and only end up paying about 30-50% of replacement cost. Good insurers do new-for-old, not minimum arguable market value.

        • @bohdud: Thanks. I've never used it.

  • Argh, wanted a mavic pro a few months ago… bought a DJI spark FM and had it for 3mths..and now I got a mavic pro on the way :/

Thanks for killing my credit card op!!

    • Why the upgrade if you dont mind me asking?

      • Got sick of dropouts on wifi and Samsung s8.Wanted to have occusync which is on the mavic.

If I was on iPhone or iPad, might have been a better because supposedly not as bad in iOS.

  • +1

Ok now we need some battery deals. Come on ozbargain, I need you to power my new second hand drone.

  • I'm guessing no TRS given it is sold from the US?

    • correct. no gst paid = no gst refund. they couldn't process it for you even if they wanted to help you do a dodgy claim haha. they have to scan the australian tax invoice with gst, seller's ABN and other info listed in order to process any TRS claim.

      • Yes, I am going overseas on the 21st so thought I could take advantage of this.

Does TRS do any checks against the invoice?

        • Well you need to provide the invoice, so yes.

        • They not only check the invoice, they scan a copy and provide it to the ATO so all the refunds add up to the GST charged by retailers. If you attempt to claim this, best case they will tell you get lost, worst case they may report you for attempted tax fraud and you get added to the ATO blacklist - the people whose tax returns they go through meticulously every year.

  • +1

I need to build a good business case so the wife will approve the spend…any ideas? All I have is I can use it to check the condition of the roof for cracked tiles, blocked down pipes etc…but I think she will say my $40 ladder can do that too…any ideas?

  • +2

Still waiting for a 20% off the Platinum version :/

    • I don't see any major benefit to buying the platinum. If you get a pro and buy a set of the new props then it's almost as good.

      • +1

hahah yes… that's what i did. impulse buy during lunch breaks .

  • +2

Can someone point me to a reliable place to get some accessories. I see aliexpress has quite a few but not sure if they're reliable. Anyone have any experience with these?
    https://www.aliexpress.com/wholesale?catId=0&initiative_id=S...

I'm basically looking for 2 extra batteries, charger, new platinum props and a case.Maybe some filters as well.

    • +1

I’ve purchased some parts off dcxpert on eBay previously.
20% off sales occur quite often. Aus stock based in Melbourne

  • Man this is so tempting been after one of these for a while…my phantom 4 is to dam big! Hmmmmmm decision!

  • +2

Looks like the party is over. No longer available to Australia.

Works for me as I'd come back second guessing my decision NOT to buy.

    • I wonder if they would still ship orders that have gone through to Australia

      • I'd say so. They were charging a decent amount (around USD$45 I think) to post them here. They probably didn't expect the deluge of OzBargainers, making life more tricky for them.

  • Oh it not ship to Australia anymore :(

  • +1

what a way to do business… remove postage options for the people that want to buy.
