$7.99 .COM.au domain. Cheapest I have found so far… This offer showed up a few days ago in Google Ads when I was looking for domains. The link might be dead. Just search up GoDaddy .COM.au domain GoDaddy or use the code at the checkout with a .com.au domain.

  • Any mention of renewal cost?

    • With GoDaddy, renewal cost is the 'full price figure' when they show domain prices.

    Could be important to mention

    Bad link?

Link is bad. Just head to their domain page: https://au.godaddy.com/offers/domains

Title should read $7.99 per year (min 2 years)

    • -1

Know the correct price is the full price.

When I posted that comment the title was "$7.99.com.au Domain (Min Registration 2 Years)". Mods have since edited the title.

  • Whoops! Looks like you're lost.
Maybe you were typing too fast. Or maybe we moved the page you were looking for (sorry about that). Whatever happened, there’s nothing to see here. Try one of the links below to get back on track.

Out of interest, can you register a domain here and transfer it to your usual provider straight away? Or is there some catch that GoDaddy puts over the domain???

    • There is some catch. GoDaddy = No! Baddy

      • Yeah, that's the reputation I've heard about GoDaddy. But I've never used them personally. What is stopping me from registering the domain today then transferring it to my host (Zuver) tomorrow? I don't think GoDaddy can stop this and then they shouldn't charge for the renewal in 2 years time… no?

        • +1

While they wont stop you moving before renewal, they do block you from transferring it for about 1 month after initial purchase I think it was. Plus there is a few 'unlocking steps' that take a few days. I have registered and transferred a few domains with them in the past.

@mouse1442000: nah they can't block the transfer. You can get the transfer password direct from ausregistry. So it's not problem to transfer an au straight away.

It's gTLDs you can't transfer immediately.

        • @jesseboy89: Ah, that would be why I saw that. I bought a .com most recently…

        • +1

There is nothing stopping you transferring it the next day and they can't renew something they no longer have registered with them and because it a .AU domain name transfers will be free.

        • +1

@mouse1442000: This lockout the 60 day one only applies to gTLDs not domain names under control of auDA there is no such lockouts in the .AU name space.

          @jesseboy89:

You can get the transfer password direct from ausregistry. So it's not problem to transfer an au straight away.

Correct that's available here and the great thing is transfers are free.

@mouse1442000: Yeah unfortunately they can do that on a .com but there is nothing stopping them after the 60 days as long as you're willing to pay the transfer cost for the .com which gives you an additional year registration technically you don't lose anything from transferring.

    • Normally because it's a .AU domain name you would be able to transfer it out immediately.

  • For business purposes; the couple of dollars savings here is not worth it.
The amount of junk mail they send (including from 3rd parties) and telemarketing calls, it will cost you in time.
Also, their un-ethical domain sniping practices have been well documented on this forum in the past.

Seriously, be professional, use a reputable service for your domain registration.

    • Who do you recommend as a reputable service?

      • +2

I have used VentraIP (and their cheaper sister company Zuver) for a few years for both domain registration and hosting. Support is great (they're Australian), and they do ID protection and SSL certs for free.
