Logitech Wireless Desktop MX-5500 $119

451

Seems pretty cheap for a premium mouse and keyboard. Cheaper than Staticice, cheapest at static ice is 169 from MSY

  • I was searching price for this one today.
    Nearly set off to MSY….
    Nice found, thank you!

  • Ay dios mios, I just pulled the trigger on this bad boy. I needed to buy something in the $60 range for a new rig but what the hell why not no one lives forever.

  • Fluidtek had these for $75, too bad there's is only 1 store.

    • i thought fluidtek only had the mk710 for $75? They are far inferior and are not bluetooth.

Dont forget that officeworks will beat this price by 5% so it comes to $113 :)

  • Got mine 2 years ago for $169.
This is a great keyboard mouse combo. MX revolution mouse is very comfortable to use and come with a charging dock. Keyboard use 4xAA and it last around 400000 keystrokes (around 3 months) on my Kodak LSD batteries. Use it for gaming is fine.
On the short side the wireless reception is pretty crap. I have to use a extension cord to put the usb dongle close enough to kb and mouse or it will lag randomly. The mouse is starting to die (after 2 years of use) and it occasionally send "double click" on one click.

    • yeah, same here…getting double letter at the start of keyboard wakeup operation…else all is good…just got another one at this price, perfect for removing some wires from desktop…

  • not good, go to castle hill jb-hi no stock (take me half hour)
and they can not get from other store,
if jb-hi had not enough stock, why do special!
    upset!!

    • Sounds more like a clearance than a special price.

Buy it online, it has free freight.

    1. Is this available in store or online only?

    2. Does the mouse have replaceable AA or AAA batteries?

    • 2.no, it has inbuilt rechargeables which you can't replace without taking the mouse apart. It charges on an included dock (same as the MX revolution)

Sorry to hear that coolfish. Maybe try a pricematch from office works? or DSE?

  • Is that price already included 40% off? because jbhifi have a special 40%off on logitech accessories. They offer free shipping as well, why bother to go to shop :D

I have the performance MX mouse and really dislike it.

The mouse wheel "cogs" for scrolling are so weak that whenever I try to middle click, the mouse wheel spins aseveral clicks.
The right mouse button is so weak that about 20% of the weight of my middle finger randomly sets it off and I unintentionaly right click on things all the time.

    • Very similar with the M950 mouse, the wheel really isnt all that good for middle clicking

      • M950 is OK for middle clicks. I use one a lot. Not as easy as my G9 however (but lightyears better than my old G7).

Also M950 doesn't seem to suffer the double click problem that seems very common on the MX Rev. M950 also uses just an AA battery (comes with a rechargable one but you can use your own).

        • Untrue. M950 Suffers just as much middle button issues, I have had 4 M950s three which had the following problems

Middle button must be pressed really hard to work
Middle button switch for endless scrolling to normal scrolling doesnt work.
Middle button has double click issues.

I have to say Logitech is not as good as it was 5yrs ago but for this price with 3years warranty i wouldnt worry too much

Key difference is darkfield laser compare to the MX vs M950

      • mx1100 has a little of a problem.. but only like 1 notch of the wheel when u middle click.. maybe it's just the way i press it

but anyways this is an awesome deal

  • Probably should add logitech 40% off in title.

  • great deal !

my dad wanted one of these sets, he's had one for some years, but the scroll wheel is giving him some issues, a lot better than $250 at office works

  • Nice deal. Just picked one up from Officeworks - $113 instead of their $249 advertised price. :)

  • Suitable/Recommended for Mac users?

  • I would say its a good deal, but I wouldn't in terms the product you'll get. The only thing you can use after 3 months is the mouse. I've gone through 3x replacement due to poor keyboard design. 1st: snapped leg, 2nd lcd wont work, 3rd button getting noisy and hard when u push it.

  • Will this keyboard and mouse work with a PS3?

    • Sure does, I've paired it myself.

  • Reading the comments here and checking reviews (this Aussie one stands out: http://www.pcworld.idg.com.au/review/pc_components/logitech/…) has caused me some unease at impulse buying this like a giggly little schoolgirl.

How good are Logitech with their warranties?

    • +1

Warranty is normally slow. if jb has stock they will replace it for you. but if you are going to do warranty via Logitech direct it can take months.

I got one of my M950 via Dell it toke 3 months to get it replaced…… very slow…

      • Thanks mate hope I won't need to replace but I think the chances of that are slim.

    Sold out.

It seems to me like Logitek products are way overpriced and you need a good Samaritan like Eddy or the MSY mob to bring the prices back to reality, albeit as a special offer. $400 RRP for a keyboard is obscene.
