    ._.

  • Expensive.

  • +2

Shame about Alienware, I've had the MX13 Laptop and Aurora R2 - both with Motherboard issues after a year. I definately wouldn't purchase another Alienware

  • +4

    $4K with USB 2.0 and no USB-C.

You can get a GTX 1080 for $650 now.
Is the rest of it worth $3000?

    • +11

but its got AlienFX (wtf?) with 9 lighting zones. and its epic silver (not just any old plain silver like the cheaper brands).

Surely that makes up for it noh?

    • +8

The CPU alone costs a whopping $2349 AUD or $1499 USD.

Although for that kind of price, you could buy a competing AMD Threadripper 1950x for $1399. Continuing on…

      SLI capable motherboard, $379
64 gigabytes of RAM costs $635 dollars

The case is super fancy and modular, and there's nothing else quite like it on the market. Let's just assume you used one of the best cases from Coolermaster, the Mastercase Pro 6, that would cost you around $200. Although, there are even nicer cases available. The Cooler Master Cosmos C700P costs $399 for example.

SAMSUNG EVo Pro SSD costs $299
      4TB WD40EZRZ $169
Corsair CX850M Bronze power supply $155

That's altogether $4186 (no GPU!) and that's without taking consideration the costs of say, the OS, building the system, the additional cooling fans and LED lights, the networking equipment and of course, the keyboard and mouse.

      • Wow that's an insane price for that CPU. Skepticism retracted!

        • +7

No one in their right mind would pay that kind of money for it now. Sticking with Intel, the newer generation 10 core 7900X is $1279, you can get 16 core 7960X for $2349. Even if you already had an X99 motherboard, you'd be ahead dumping it and getting a new board and CPU.

        • @TheContact:

This pricing history just goes to show how lack of competition by AMD allowed Intel to get away with years and years of rip-off pricing. And people still bought it and give it 5-star ratings on Amazon.

  • No 16-core Threadripper??

  • +1

Too expensive and not even 1080ti

    • Dual NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1080 with 8GB GDDR5X each (NVIDIA SLI® Enabled)

      Dual Video in SLI

Do I get a spaceship too?

  • +9

Thanks OP, purchased because it has Microsoft Office.

    • +1

How long is the trial period?

      • only 30 days?

  • +3

There's higher chance of me sneaking into Area 51 than affording to buy this.

  • No Core i9-XE no deal.

  • Gaming Desktop

Since when do you need 64gb of ram for gaming

    • +3

For those whose definition of gaming is running all their games at once

    • +1

RAMDISK - preload entire game into RAM.

  • +4

Alienware and Ozbargain are incompatible there is no such thing as an alienware "bargain" everything with the badge is a complete rip off

  • +2

I guess putting a blu-ray drive in this thing would have blown out the price

  • +1

For that price it better come with a live alien inside…

The processor is i9 now. But this one still use 6th processor. So it not worth $4,239.20

    • You're getting confused. i9 is not the iteration. We're at the 8th generation.

  • 5k for a new pc? - this is not 1997 anymore man

    • +1

Do you always round up to the nearest thousand to prove a point?

      • Yep. And i got up-voted. At ozbargain we are everyday people who are realist. We seek bargains. 5k for a new pc is not a bargain.

You are being defensive, you must have some ties with OP. You can spend 5k on this rig. 99% of people here wont.

        • +1

Do you see a + next to my name? Agreed this is a terrible deal but you just added over 15% to the price to make a point, it was already overpriced at $4.3k
