Or may be it's just the Christmas?

  • And end?

  • -2

With all these sales, and the attempts at cashing in the Amex deal with HN for gift cards now a recent memory… Do you think it's time to see if they'll give me 6 x $500 GCs without grief?

  • +3

wonder if Call of Duty WWII PC price will be the same

    • I wonder if it will be less still at discount game key websites.

      • apparently the boxed version for PC only contains a cd key, no install discs at all, so might as well buy the cheapest cd key online

        • That's why I'm asking…
cheapest price i can find is 52 USD for a cd key so this is still cheaper.

        • +1

          @krimzonite:

looks like cdkeys is the cheapest at around $58 AUD

          http://www.comparegames.com.au/PC/Call-Of-Duty-Wwii/prices/1…

I have already "liked" their facebook in the past so I am not sure if I could get another 10% off somehow? (maybe un-like then re-like it?)

otherwise, seems like Gerry might be competitive for once (assuming PC is part of the deal)!

    • well looks like PC version if also $54, but it is out of stock for my nearest HNs, after paying postage………….

  • Is the Sakai tv any good?

    • -7

Sakai means stupid in Mandarin. Instead of a smart TV, this is a 'stupid tv'.

      • You meant Malay. Not mandarin.

        sakai (ˈsakaɪ)
        (in Malaysia) n
        1. (Peoples) a Malaysian aborigine
        2. a wild or uncouth person
        [from Malay]

        • So I presume this TV is uncouth or uncivilized.

        • +6

@Overcomerak: In that case it should be perfect in the Aussie lounge room.

Oh hahaha that makes a lot more sense, thought I needed another coffee this morning. :D

        • +1

@Dingus: I thought I'd had too much coffee this morning

  • +2

really good gaming keyboard, especially at that price, bought mine for a little more from jb hi-fi and love it.

  • Interested in that 70" tv, anyone know if there are reviews/alternate model number for reviews?

  • The Blitz2Go seems interesting, won't have to buy boost anymore!?

    • I have one that I use almost exclusively for iced coffee making (ice, coffee, milk + maple syrup instead of sugar) - saves me a packet and they're pretty good.

      • Sounds overly too simple… I don't even have to chop up veggies or anything…. My cup of tea will definitely buy!

Maybe replace the coffee for a banana for the banana buzz.

        • My one from the last deal year ago still in the box … XDD only used once.

  • +1

    Good effort, +1

  • I bought the G810 from JB when it first released as a pricing error at this price lol

  • +1

    Would like a G613!

pro tip- if buying the Sony 70” tv, buy today online at good guys via cash rewards…. $87.50 reward. Pick up enjoy today, go back to good guys tomorrow and claim 30 day price beat guarantee… extra $50. This would bring the total cost down to $2357.50.

    • +2

Won't risk waiting until tomorrow but within an hour as you will never know the stock level of these TV the next day. By the way how did you work out the extra $50 from the good guys price beat guarantee? I thought the price difference was $1000 so 120% of it should be $1200 refund your way?

      • Oh you are correct. I thought the price beat was only 105%. It’s been a while since I’ve done it. So final price would be $2207.50.

    • Can't find these models on TGG website. Have they taken them down?

  • Thanks for the head up OP

  • anyone know if this is online or in-store? or both? :)

and would anyone recommend the Samsung 55" UA55MU6100 4K UHD LED Smart TV $1088 (Save $407)???

  • Great price for the g810. Cheapest I was able to get mine was $135 from CPL a few months ago.

  • +1

Don't forget the HN $100 off $400 cashback for those who saved the offer

  • hoping to price match/beat @ JB for G810.

When does this deal go live?

    • -1

      "TOMORROW" ?

      • +1

When does the deal go live "TOMORROW"?

        • when the shop opens i assume.. possibly midnight tonight online… not sure if JB is going to price match at that time .. loll

  • Anyone found any reviews of the Sony tv's ? haven't been able to find any on the line … guessing because they are new releases :)

    • The native 50Hz refresh rate has me slightly concerned (upscales to 200Hz app but not sure how this goes?). No Dolby atmos support too fyi.

      • i saw that as well… usually they release some for review's early so bit weird i cant find anything unless they have a diff model/family overseas.

      • All TV's are still 60Hz max. The 50Hz is a left over from our power supply and why we have 50i vs the USA's 60i.

PS Incase I miss understood your complaint, and you do know of a TV that can output a faster than 60Hz video, it would be good to know about it.

        • There are many TV's with a 100Hz native refresh rate, saw a 800Hz tv at JB Hifi the other day, this day and age for gamers and the current content that we play 50Hz is not sufficient for the price point.

        • @tightm8: Wouldn't they be max 120Hz? I was unaware they were being made. Cool for gaming, and that we could eventually watch The Hobbit in 48/96Hz.

        • @tightm8: I have only spent five minutes searching, but can find no indication of any TV's handling faster than 60p video. Can you give me a make and model?

You are not mixing up the technique used to combat the physical blur issues with the display technology used, where the display is pulsed at a multiple rate?

        • yup i did see it being related to power output on the Sony website, I've got plasma screen at home so I've never had to worry about hz and motion blur etc, so didnt know what the 50Hz referred to ..lol

        • @Major Mess:

Related to the refresh rate of the screen not the power source. Higher generally means less blur.

        • @tightm8: This is what the specs are on the site

MOTION ENHANCER (NATIVE Hz) - Motionflow™ XR 200 (Native 50Hz)
          POWER REQUIREMENTS (VOLTAGE/FREQUENCY) - 50/60Hz AC 110-240V

Edit: Stand corrected there are higher refersh rates up to 240 it seems. here's a good article on it so like original post 50hz seems a but on the low side :)

          http://www.rtings.com/tv/learn/fake-refresh-rates-samsung-cl…

        • @scud70: You apparently missed the entire point of that page which is that TV's are only ONLY 60Hz and 120Hz …

        • @Diji1: no i didn't.. just stating the real refresh rate of some tv's over the years which some had 240. below review dny found has that motion isnt a problem on this tv so im cool with it.

    • Looks to be the AU/NZ equivalent of http://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/sony/x690e

      • Lol I actually read that review… Thought maybe it was a higher model due to the numbering but I think your right

  • Besides the catch deal, the Google Home deal looks pretty good here.

Why on earth would google make such a product?

        • @tightwad:

To collect data of course, like all their products. That data is used to make advertising more relevant to the individual consumer. Their edge in the advertising market is to allow advertisers to reach the people who would be most interested in their products. It's a pretty simple business model. I'm fine with it as long as that data is not sold to third parties (which Google say they don't and no-one has ever produced any evidence to say otherwise).

        • @dazweeja:

Oh, that's OK if they're only selling it to advertisers!!!!

        • @tightwad:

They're not selling your data to to anyone. That would destroy their business. They sell ads to advertisers. Google - not the advertisers - serve those ads to the target audience. The advertisers never have access to the data.

      • Yes, but Gerry isn't going to like you going to the competition:
        https://www.amazon.com/Electro-Deflecto-Unisex-Foil-Size/dp/…

      • $30 delivery. No deal.

      • +2

The Techrific one does not say specifically that it's the AU model. It says AU Warranty, which if you read their terms is provided by TCF GLOBAL LIMITED.

    • What do you need to get the price match? You need the price to be on the HN website or a catalogue and to be in an Office Works store?

      • +1

That's a good point. Yes, you need to go into an Officeworks store. I have the catalogue so I would just use that but I assume the online price will drop tomorrow. If not, I've pasted the full catalogue page including T&Cs here:
        https://snag.gy/MlhDbw.jpg

Just bring up the catalogue image on your phone and start with "HNs has Google homes on sale for $146, can you pricebeat?"

        • +1

You are a legend, thanks for the effort mate! Hmmm I have work tomorrow, so not sure the best way to do this. I might be safer to just hit up HN online and spend a little more :-(

    • any point buying these as purely wifi speakers (stream via bubbleupnp)? or other suggested alternatives at this price?

      • +1

The speaker is pretty good for its size but it's definitely not designed as a Hi-fi device. My wife likes it that she can ask it to play almost anything without having to get out her phone and scroll through playlists. You can ask it to play in a different room. I haven't tried asking it to play in multiple rooms, move playing audio or play multiple streams in different but my guess is it would suck as you are controlling all the google homes in your house at the same time.

  • -2

Get the Google Home Mini. Much cheaper and does the exact same thing.

    • The Google home mini has 4 speakers and sounds good as a music device? Also by much cheaper, you mean $50. Given it costs $80 for a microphone and tiny speaker, and $50 more gets you a much better sounding device in the same footprint. Also the buttons on Google home work, unlike the disabled one on the mini.

  • I waited til after midnight to grab them $5 earphones and they're still not on the sale price…time to go banggood

  • It's ALIVE. Google Mini + Chromecast Audio vs Google Home?

Decided on Mini + Chromecast as it gives me options to stream to connected audio system. Note that the pricing came up as $55 for the Chromecast and $78 for the Home Mini then it gave $31 discount for a final price of $102 pickup.

Someone miscalculated the discount amount.. get on it before they notice and hit you for the extra $4 :)

Thinking of picking up the Sennheiser Momentums. What are peoples thoughts on the headphones, this is probably as good as a deal you would get right? And how do people like them compared to the Bose QC 35ii? From what Ive read, better audio for Sennheiser but better noise cancelling for Bose.

    • I have the sennheiser, bose qc35 and sony 1000xm2.
I prefer the sound of sennheiser, comfort of qc35 and control of sony. They are all great in sound. Sennheiser not too comfortable wearing at night lying on bed, too easy it slides off. My musics are easy listening and mostly country

    • It's $300 with the Amex offer. I went for it.

    • Beyerdynamic

  • For those wanting Google Home, and had saved Amex Offer at David Jones probably can try to get it price match at $150, with $30 offer from Amex would make it to $120

  • Are those Sony TV's some new budget line?
