  • Good pickup for $12. No PVR on the xbox is a big bummer though

Or pay another ~$4 and get a brand new one delivered to your door

    • … from the UK

  • I guess the only point to this is if you are using a monitor in a study or something?

    • my old tv doesn't support the codecs used on the HD channels, so this solves that issue for me

Run everything through the xbox. Plex, netflix, tv, games etc. No need to use the TV remote at all (if you use kinect sensor)

      • don't need the gold membership to run apps?

    • Also lets you stream digital TV to your iPads and tablets while someone else is playing a game on the TV, which could be cool if someone in your house watches TV and can't use the main TV to do it because you're playing xbox.

      • This is particularly useful for keeping tabs on sport while playing. You can be playing your game on your beast of a television while streaming the cricket or other sporting match on free-to-air to an iPad or other tablet device beside you and not miss the action there either.

        • How does this work with iPads/Tablets?

        • Through the Xbox app.

  • Is this just a standard USB digital TV Tuner card? So it could be used in a microserver or old PC, as a PVR etc.

It's easier to get the playstation ones though, they have been supported for a few years already. There's always a few bugs to iron out before things are stable.

    • No, only works on Xbox.

Pre-owned Sony Play TV are $15 ($26 delivered) at EB games which works on Windows and is twin tuner. It uses standard dvb-t so many programs work with it :)

I love how these are 'refurbished'. Definition for EB is 'put in a plastic zip lock bag with a sticker on it'

    • They probably turn them on them to see if they work.

      • +2

… perhaps, but still ends up in plastic zip lock bag with a sticker on it.

        • Although the last refurbished item I got from EB had no plastic bag or sticker. (It was a Wii nun-chuck for my nephew.)

It did come with a handy rubber band though. Hours of fun.
And harder to accidentally suffocate myself with.

  • If, like me, you have shitty reception in your house, there's an app for your Xbox called "Aussie TV FTW" … someone on here told me about it ages ago and it's great. It's a bit shit in terms of video quality, but it does the job if you're just watching here and there. It has ABC, SBS, 10, 9, 7, and some other shit too, streaming through the internet. Can't tape or anything, but it's better than nothing, the nothing I got when I used one of these tuners back when I got my Bone.

    • Looks like it has been pulled.

That's what she… oh never mind.

      • Shit, yeah, I Google'd it and saw that. Got an update on it the other day, assumed it was still going fine.

Sorry about that, pretend I said nothing. Thank (profanity) I still have the thing at least, chucking on ABC Kids in the morning can be a life saver for the 21 month old in your life.

          21 month

          She/he is 2 :P

          Yep, that damn CH 22

        • @Spackbace: Maybe I'm tired, maybe I'm just stupid, I don't know. Either way, I have no idea what you're saying, but look forward to waking up to see myself being dumb.
