  • is VPN required to use spotify or is it just for signup?

    • +1

Just for the signup. I am able to use my account even though I have a family subscription from the Philippines.

      • We've been using this for ages without a VPN without problem.

But do note, songs are missing. For example, Crash Test Dummies's God Shuffled His Feet is missing most songs.

  • If someone is keen to create a family account, I would like to join. Please send me a MP :)

Around AUD $5 for family account good for 6 listeners and make sure address is same for all accounts. I transfer funds to paypal.ph for payment

Apple music family PH account is around the same amount.

Im hoping google music will be available in Philippines so I can cancel my Spotify.

    • What's the difference between Spotify and Google music?

      • Google will play both, but Alexa will only play one.

        • -1

Meaning Google Play can play Spotify as well?

        • @nightelves: It was a reference to Google Home and Amazon Echo speakers. An Echo won't play Google music for competitive reasons. Google Play music allows you to upload your own music which is very handy for stuff not in the catalogue. Spotify has a really good feature for shifting the music stream to various devices and the mobile app can be used in that way to remote control music on another device (even if not directly connected via bluetooth).

        • @marquise:

          Oh got it. Thanks!

    • How do you setup Apple Music in PH?
      Never heard about it.

    • -2

Registering in any country is fine but it’s just a short term solution.

Unless you’re prepared to continuously use VPN on the device while streaming, Spotify will detect that you’re in australia. Then it will be only 2 weeks of usage before they bounce you to pay up for Australia services.

      • It's fine because you are using Spotify premium - as per here: Using Spotify abroad for more than 14 days is a Premium only feature.

i can disagree with you on this. been using phillipine spotify for almost a year and had no issues. VPN was only required for initial setup and was fine without vpn use afterwards

Here is a link to an earlier deal that outlines the set up needed https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/279292

  • Hey, interesting comment, wanting to know a bit more please;

    1. Do you know if this bargain will only work with a PayPal.PH account?

    2. Why are you hoping Google Music will be available? Is it a user preference over Spotify’s product/service/UI or is there something more to be aware of?

    • +3
      1. Cannot pay cards issued in australia so I created a paypal.ph and schedule money transfer using my paypal.au. I have been using Spotify.ph for years after rdio(ph) shutdown.

      2. I use Google Music more because I can upload/stream my own collection. Availability of artist/albums are the same on both platforms based on my favorites. Also, included Youtube Red - no adds, good for my kids.

      • Thanks mate - much appreciated

Not true. I'm using my ING Orange with PayPal.ph and it works fine.

  • Happy to share a family account and transfer every month. Please PM me
