Original Xiaomi Mi Smart WiFi Socket - ZigBee Version - XIAOMI SOCKET WHITE

This is the better option than the standard wifi socket for those who own a XIAOMI gateway. This version includes extra energy usage monitoring features over the standard wifi version. Uses zigbee wireless so will not work without the gateway..

Over 50% off list price and the cheapest USD price I’ve seen.

  • What are the main disadvantages of having this instead of the normal one?

    • +4

Need to own the Xiaomi Smart Home Gateway to have it function is the only downside. Upsides are has energy monitoring features and zigbee wireless uses less standby power. Normally this version is a few dollars more expensive than the standard wifi one (which was posted yesterday for $7.99USD).

      • Thanks a lot for adequate explanation stirlo, I was really interested to know if there is anything the standard version would do that this doesn't?
The post had less than 80 clicks when came up as expired. Hope to see more sensors and switches deals.

Do these have the compliance tick? If not I assume that would void your home insurance if anything went wrong….

    • +1

People have been talking about the home insurance for years here and never been able to provide proof that you won't be covered.

  • a metoo for more stock please - i'd have bought 2 more if it was available

  • I want to buy one of these but cannot really see where in home they would be good fit.. Any suggestions?

Long term energy users you can keep an eye on:

      • refrigerator, freezer, washer, dryer, TV

      Medium term energy users:

      • toasters, kettles

      Short term energy users:

      • the iron, lamps, heaters.

the point being that you can have a number of uses for energy monitoring as well as turning things on/off remotely (depending on what is happening).

      • Thanks, so I guess it's more useful to monitor the energy usage. For turning things on/off remotely, I think the best place for it in my home would be where I cannot reach the power points easily, e.g. behind furniture etc…
