  • Who did the terrible translation… Should be 70mph Not 70minutes

    • One would think that, but (un?)forutnately, it's not about the translation. The name of this dash camera is "70 minutes". I know.

      • No, it is just bad translation. There is no official English name for it. And its Chinese name should be 70mph

        • No, it is just bad translation. There is no official English name for it. And its Chinese name should be 70mph

I can't imagine why you think it should be called as one thing or another, but here's a link that talks about the release of this product on the official mi.com page (which calls it as 70 minutes):

          http://c.mi.com/thread-409518-1-1.html

        • @CocaKoala: official mi forums? that is just done by their interns… Lets wait till they give an official English name for this 70迈camera.
i think it should be called MPH because 迈 is the abbreviation of mile per hour.

  • Price changed to $78.74??

So the UI is in Chinese?

    • +2

  • +1

Seems like all the voice commands are in Chinese.

Store rep - ive ordered too at $39.79, can you provide credit back?

    • Careful… Negging a Xiaomi deal will see you down voted to Oblivion.

      • It does seem to be a xiaomi front page war. But I'm interested in all these deals. So when I keep clicking on a deal from a certain site and I keep seeing similar negative comments/ issues/ complications (patterns). Also I'm within the guidelines to neg a deal. Seems most if not all are worried about doing a legitimate personally affected neg because of becoming a target. Especially by more prominent possibly agenda focused members. If I can't excericse my right to neg a deal because I see red flags that I don't see on other deals. Than the point is lost. Keeping Aus consumers safe.

  • +1

ordered it, though not happy about the misleading price.

  • -2

Paid in USD as Rep recommends still came to $39.30 misleading .

    • -2

      yes me also
      ditto :misleading

Or you don't know how to pay in USD properly as the exchange rate through xe.com is now 38.01 AU.

Heaps of OzBargainers have Credit or Debit Cards that do not have currency conversion fees. Setting them up in Paypal to use their own rate avoids Paypal's inflated exchange rate and gets you very close to the current exchange rate.

    • +1

No, you don't know how to do it properly. Use paypal and use card currency converter instead of Paypal. With no currency conversion card like the 28degree or Coles mastercard, it come out ~$38.

      • o.o now who is next OZBer? you guys are so professional on saving every coins

        • +1

Can you please tell me why the shipping charges are not 0?

Normal tracked not expedited. I want to place an order and after going through the setting 10 times finally wanted to place the order and now shipping is charged.

        • +1

@avifurtado: our free shipping only available on Postal Service - Tracking, just checked, this still working to AU. express shipping cost too much, considering our price, we can afford free shipping for now.

  • Got 2 for $75.99 AUD, thanks

  • Can this record while parked like the Blackvue can with that power magic box?

  • Rep: when is the new yi ultra dash cam going to be available?
    https://www.yitechnology.com/yi-ultra-dash-camera

  • Which app need to download? To activate it, does it need a Chinese phone number?

    • +1

      Pls read instructions.

  • +1

Read the instructions and the rate in USD although at 28.80 conversion bring the AUD to 39.44.

    • Did you do settings in your PayPal account as mentioned in the last step of the description.

      • Yes I did. The price on the website is usd 29.79 as opposed to 28.80

        • +2

Did you untick the insurance box?

    • +2

Mine comes out exactly $38 with coles mastercard

  • +2

Thanks OP - absolutely no issues on my end. Note for others: PayPal will automatically set your payment into AUD, so make sure you change this to USD before you hit Confirm in PayPal.

  • +1

I'm sure everyone has received messages from the Gear best reps by now.

  • +4

Confirmed the price works for me, bought 1 for USD $28.80 (with the free very slow tracked shipping option) which worked out to exactly AUD $38 on my 28 Degrees card at the time.

  • Keen although the app required to set up and use the dashcam isn't even available via the Play Store - looks like I'll pass until then.

    • -1

Despite following the settings and making the payment in USD. Was charged AUD 39.26 by ANZ.

Thanks Batrobin for helping me spend the extra dollars.

      • +5

Tried my best help you guys save but apparently was all worth a neg.

        • -2

The price doesn't work for everyone. Its finally dependent on the conversion rate charged by the bank whose credit card you use. Even though the payment was made using all the steps still got charged more.

        • +2

          @avifurtado:

That's a problem with your bank, not the retailer.

Time to change banks/credit cards. Why let them continue to rip you off and shaft you?

  • +4

Bought one @ US$28.80, showing as A$38.00 on my cc. Any deals for the storage media? :/

  • +2

    Not getting the price.

  • I don't get it. Is this a dashcam or for recording me picking my nose in the car?

    • Hahah. Initially I thought about it like that as well :D but apparently it is to record the people outside picking their nose

  • +1

I haven't heard of this retailer, did a quick google and reviews are pretty shocking. Any experiences? Positive or negative?

  • Looks like this dashcam is battery rather than capacitor based from what the manual says.

    • @duketing,
Good point. Wifi cameras have batteries in them and if you live in a hot place like I do in Perth then I would avoid a dashcam with a battery.

  • Not getting the price.

  • missed out…

  • ddpai has been around for a couple of years now. 2k recording and has wifi and mobile app to watch, cut, edit videos. Have had my one for 2 years
