  • Been waiting for this !! Thanks

So the model of this Dash Cam is called 70 Minutes.

    Wow that's very confusing.

    • +5

yep, wonder who comes up with these names

      • +5

Haha, at first I thought it meant that it could only record for 70 minutes before looping.

But it does take a micro sd card - up to 64gb. Youtube Review Here

        • Yeah same here… combined with the fact that it's like 30 bucks I kinda thought that must have been the catch. Super cheap, but only records 70mins on loop.

    • +2

Lol I was confused and thought it had built-in memory to hold 70 minutes worth of recorded footage :P

    • +11

I think it's probably because it will take 70 minutes to set up.

    • +5

or it will die after 70min. One way of saying "Disposable" … maybe

    • +1

If anyone knows what a better name / tag for this product might be, please let me know

      • 70Miles Smart Dash Cam is what they're using online. Assuming my translation is correct.

        (go ask scotty lol)

      • +4

If anyone knows what a better name / tag for this product might be, please let me know

        What about Scrimshaw Ozaction Cam?

Uses the latest Ozbargaintek chipset and has a Talk With a Mod emergency button.

Comes with an OLED screen so you can browse Ozbargain while recording.

Had an accident and trapped in your vehicle?

No worries, with the backup battery you can still browse Ozbargain for over an hour until emergency cut you out.

Also available in the K version, which includes a built-in KFC app so you can order Hot and Spicy as you drive.

        • No deal. Why cant I use eneloops gor backup

    • +22

It's the brand name translated incorrectly…
So the brand suppose to be "70Miles" or "70MPH"
      Then Xiaomi has other sub-brand caled "90 percent"(Luggage cases)…
I think they trying to call it "70 percent".
But in Chinese "percent" and "minute" use the same word…hence it was translated to "70 minutes"
Hope this helps you guys. lol

      • Would be more accurate to call them companies rather than brand. Just one of the many companies Xiaomi invest in and integrate into their ecosystem.

    • -1

Maybe someone in Xiaomi said "Let's call it 60 Minutes, you know, like the crap TV show" and then someone else said "No, 60 is superstitious, let's use 70 Minutes instead".

  • Does anybody know how does this compare to G1W-CB?

    • -2

      li-po vs caps

      • +3

        li-po

        Does that involve suction?

      • really is that the only difference? i missed out the deal on the last G1W-CB then i might buy this!

        • that's the main difference

and this has live view / replay over apps wifi

image quality should be similar or better than g1wcb

        • I din't miss out, and still waiting for it to arrive !@%#$

        • @cameldownunder:

Yeah i actually placed the order but they cancelled it, saying i need to verify the payment, but i paid by paypal!

      • +2

        caps is better right?

I already have a G1W-CB but it always forgets the time and I think is generally unreliable.

        • +2

caps better but battery is required for models with parking mode feature

the lost date is g1wcb QA reliability probs.

        • @phunkydude: This has parking mode?

        • @No:

yea, g-sensor triggers recording when something hit your car

        • -1

Thata the first sign pf cheap Chinese tech. I had one from bunnings with same issue. Then i bought viofo a119 and its worming perfect since last 2 years. Melb sun doesn't affect its performance.

        • Mine is losing the date as well - I think it has to do with the time the vehicle is turned off, more than a couple of days with no power and I think the caps runs out of juice and the whole thing just resets.

  • So is this going to be the new darling of OzB (currently A119s?)

    • -2

      li-po vs caps

      • +3

From reading the comments over the months, I was under the impression that most of Ozb favours the caps rather than lithium battery ones.

  • all the gearbest reviews are in russian

    • +18

that's why you see interesting dashcam footage from russian on youtube

  • +25

Woah what a price. I plan to send my daughter to Mandarin classes so I can make the most of my Xiaomi products.

    • Ask for xiaomi natives speaking teacher for better understanding

    • make sure the teacher of that mandarin class is not a japanese. (it did happen to my colleague's daughter)

  • Does anyone know what app this uses? I couldn't find any reference.

  • does anyone know if the voice commands/menus are in English or chinese? Reviews say chinese

    • +1

Chinese only, according to the Youtube review in my comment above.

  • -1

Woah the video quality looks hideous

  • +1

ok, I haven't add in the promo code.

  • +3

    Official page : https://www.70mai.com/mai-carcorder/

A colleague of mine who is a Chinese descent says it might actually mean 70 miles, probably wrongly translated? Not sure.

    • It definitely means 70 miles in Chinese. Interesting they say miles (mai) when driving but actually referring to km.

  • +4

I read online this will only setup with a Chinese mobile number.. anyone heard this also?

Car manufacturers really need to start making cars with a little hidden away usb ports up behind the rear view mirror for dash cams

    Edit:
Email can now be used as registration as alternative to Chinese number.

    • Is yours up and running with email as registration?

      • I just purchased today, but seen the setup via email in the youtube link above.

  • Cheap, but it'll melt in Australian Sun?

  • Beware, not everything with the word "Xiaomi" in the title is actually made by Xiaomi (小米). This is made and sold by a company called "70mai".

    • Pretty much everything besides their phones and tablets are made by other companies.

      • At least they are branded Xiaomi with Xiaomi service and support. This product is not associated with Xiaomi at all.

  • +1

    damn, missed it

  • Damn bought this a few weeks ago for $55. Received it and no english app for iPhone so can’t seem to get it up and running…

  • Wish i got this instead of my overpriced $400 Blackvue.

    • -4

So do the Chinese government lol …

    • Theres an aussie middle finger man involved.

  • +1

not sure i'd risk having a lipo in a boiling hot car. capacitor is deffo the way to go.

  • A noob question - How does it compare to VIOFO A119S V2?

    • +1

      No gps add on module?

  • code expired…

  • code is expired :(

  • Missed it

  • oh man :(

  • When you watch the YouTube video review on the link above, make sure you set it to 1080P mine defaulted to 480P and the quality looked dodgy till I changed it to 1080P.

  • Thanks just ordered hope it goes well :)

  • Thanks op purchased just one thing i notice in pics its designed for left hand drivers if im not mistaken so will be hard to see the light in a right hand car ?

  • +4

How are people actually gonna use this, knowing that it has a lithium battery and will be subject under constant high temperature from Australian weather?

  • +2

Unfortunately guys, you'll be in for a surprise. This doesn't work outside of China…for now. I bought one from Banggood, i sort of gently lambasted for not adding to the description that it won't work without china simcard. Enlighten me if I'm wrong. By the way, my G1W still going strong after 2 years

    • +1

You sure think you can use a email instead of a sim.

    • +1

Yeah it's been mentioned a couple times here that you can now use an email to activate it.

  • -1

FYI - the status light of this device is meant for people who have the steering wheel on the wrong side to be able to view

  • Be careful in jumping the gun for this. It seems to lack a short term battery that helps in recording incidents and crashes when youre not in the car. Some models have like a 5 minute battery and motion+g sensors which enables the camera to automatically start recording even without direct power from the engine, something this model seems to be missing. Keep that in mind before you buy it.

  • They don't have this product on their Mi website.
