This has literally been the case for years, so not really a deal IMO (up to 100 items at least)

    • +2

Goes to show how hollow eBay deal upvotes can get. Was tempted to add my own just for the amusement of helping a practically worthless deal reach the front page simply on account of it being eBay, but then I noticed it already has.

The insertion fees are nothing. Its the final value fees, seller postage fees, international currency conversion fees and Paypal fees that hit you.

    • +5

      Literally nothing.

I always thought this 'promo' was constant for everyone:

      https://sellercentre.ebay.com.au/promo/5521
-Pay Only When You Sell This Month
Pay no insertion fees on up to 100 listings per day. Auction and Fixed Price listings only

      • How do you get 100 per day? I"m stuck at 120 per month.

        • Its a good question - I got an email one day saying 'You asked, we listened. You can list 100 items FREE every day*"

Guess it's like all the other targeted promotions then, bit of a mystery. I never had sold on ebay before I got that email either!

Yeah I am perplexed why this deal is being upvoted. Perhaps because people see the word 'ebay' and instinctually upvote it.
I'd love to put all the people who upvote this deal in a 'penalty box' — upvoting without reading the deal

    Insert default amazon comment here

    • Was wondering how long it would take for someone to mention Amazon

      • And now you know.

Only Insert with consent (from eBay)

His L should be changed to 1/2 L.

    Long way to go mate….

  • That's what she said.

      Bikies

  • This just means you get a $2.00 subheading for free right (for users selling one off items)? Pretty good deal, those things work. Use them to point out attractived things like "Almost never used" or "best for yada" or "BRAND SPANKING NEW!"

    • Yes, but does it cancel out the $1.10 Sunday final value fee or does it stack?

  • +5

I wish my wife had no insertion fees

  • No more price-jack sales?

    • next amazon "launch" …

    • Yes instead of jacking you can insert for free.

  • What happened to the banner which showed pay no insertion fees or final value fees that then linked off to something to do with free returns?? Did that promo ever go live or was it a leak/stuff up?

    • it's still here, search ozb for it. 5 items max

    Insertion

    ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

  • I signed up for the free Sunday promotion yet I have been charged fees in my monthly invoice today :(

Does anybody know where I can see which promotions you have attached to your account?

I have just added this but I cannot verify that I have it (aside from going back to the link which says I have already signed up-which is what I did last time too).

    Thanks

    • Which fees, insertion or FVF? You can see the promotion at the bottom of the dashboard (Selling/Sold). If you think the fees are wrong, live chat with them and they can credit your account. Happened to me a few times this year.

    • Same thing happend to me on a similar promo. Apparently the no fees promo doesn't apply to "good til cancelled" and multi-quantity listings.

      • Yes, for no final value fees promotions. But at least it should be covered by the regular monthly 50 items with no insertion fee. Last time I saw the 'used' count wasn't decreased for a no FVF promotion. I quickly cancelled the listing so costed me nothing. Changed and relisted and finally triggering the correct promotion.

      • Really? I sold 2 of the same item. I would have split if I had known otherwise.

Will chat with them later and see what they say.

I also need to recover funds from months ago when I had no fees for 10 listings. The first 5 were scammers buying my item and not paying which meant that half my actual items later on were charged :(

  • Hmmm its not the insertion fees that will eat your listing sale profit/cost but more on the final sold fee and paypal charges.

Recently took advantage of one of the no insertion and no final value fee deal, but turned out to be a mess. The item was listed for buy it now only with immediate payment required.

Item was sold, buyer asked for the item to be delivered a.s.a.p. Then, an hour later, buyer claimed that it was an unauthorised payment (someone accessed her eBay and Paypal accounts without her permission). Had to retract the delivery immediately (nearly sent out the item). Asked me for a refund and questions on why that happened (as if I would know how someone hacked into her accounts) and how the refund will work. As I tried to reverse the eBay transaction, she raised a Paypal case against me (without letting me know). Took me a while to figure out why eBay wouldn't let me cancel the transaction (because not only she raised the dispute in eBay, she also raised it in Paypal). Had to contact both eBay and PayPal support teams. Buyer behaved like she had every right and doesn't give a damn about the trouble/mess she caused. Lost the final value fee deal (which eBay won't give me a replacement one) and wasted an hour talking to two support team multiple times. The Paypal fee reversal was done incorrectly (I was overcharged).

Just want to point out sellers need to be prepared for all sorts of situations nowadays.

    • "The Paypal fee reversal was done incorrectly (I was overcharged)."

      Was that resolved later?

      • +2

I had to call Paypal support. The staff agreed it was a mistake and manually rebated the difference. Paypal put in the description: good will gesture. The truth is, it was a Paypal system error.

Remember to check your Paypal statement after a refund you've done. The Paypal fee may not be fully refunded.

    • eBay is not good at all for sellers nowadays. As a seller, you can’t leave a negative feedback if the customer is being a dick.

Agree ive had this for years - eBay need to revise their FVF if they want more sellers!

  • +2

Never selling on feeBay again. They can get stuffed.

  • Sorry OP not a deal, but a worthy post to expose eBay and make sure people understand that free insertion fee is bollocks. The eBay deal we want is free FVF.

  • +3

Won't sell at eBay unless they bring out no Final Value Fee promotion.
    The insertion fee is nothing.

    • +1

Irony of the recent FVF promotions is they've been a wake up call on the fee gouge. After being resigned to it for so long, I'm now holding out on listing/relisting anything until there's a deal on FVFs.

  • +1

    I agree, ebay is crap

    • Well that is a bit on the extreme. Well atleast your username checks out. LOL :)

      • Is that you in the photo, you look like you just saw Tightarse?

    • better than scumtree

      • eBay own Gumtree.

        • ya and they also use to own paypal

  • +1

In the context of the universe many people question, how could something come from nothing?

Well here we have plain evidence, a front-page ozbargain ebay post has been created from apparently nothing.

    Move along people.

    • LOL. Great Comment. Loved it. It was my first post BTW.

  • +1

This is not a deal. They are constantly running this shit. I haven’t had to pay insertion fees in ages. They hit you with the final value fee. 10% of sale price is a fair bit. That’s where they make their money.

  • It's a bit late now but do not click this promo link if you have the "Pay no insertion and final value fees on up to 3 items!" promo activated (and not used).

I clicked through the link and it accepted this promo. Both end at 11:59pm 6th Dec. I just listed three items and noticed it did not used the no FVF promo and talked to chat about it. Apparently it does not use the FVF promo until this promo runs out. Since they both run out at the same time, there's no way for me to use the FVF promo…

    Listings cancelled.
