  • I think it's just not that exciting. I don't mind the flavour and CRUNCH though, so I reckon I'll pick some up!

    Made in China..

    • +3

I reckon the popularity tanked when that got out.

On a related note I found recently that the bags M&M Minis are Made in China too!

(I think it was that one, I just read the back of them all)

      • Interesting… Would've thought everything Mars made would've come from their factory in Wendouree.

        • All the other bag ones are "Made in Australia from blah blah blah" which is what we all kinda expect. But yes to my surprise when I looked through them all the Mini's were just plain "Made in China".

      "Made in China" Oh really?
Wow will never buy these , even for 5c a block- thanks for letting us know.
Have perma-ban on made in China food since they were outed for routinely putting melamine in baby milk. Any country that's capable of doing that for profit couldnt give a shit about human safety.

      • +2

And pet food, animals have died from renal failure eating their crap.

      • I have a serious chocolate addiction - currently my stocks are down to 7kg - but I too will not buy it. Two men were executed for that melamine scandal

        • By electric chair or firing squad?

        • +1

@Superninja418: Firing squad, and I read elsewhere (probably Daily Mail) their families were invoiced for the bullets.

I'm a sucker for Almond M&Ms, and the block chocolate is almost as nice. I think I'll stock up on the way home from work. Thanks OP!

  • +3

I'm reading this with my hands in an M&M bucket

    • +1

      Is it made in China?

      • +2

        Nope, Australia

        • Base ingredients probably from China :/

  • +2

They may be getting deleted, MADE IN CHINA might have something to do with that. They launched at $4.80 about 4 months ago

  • Is this available in all stores?

  • I don't think this is available at all Coles. Not at my local one anyway :(

  • +2

Everyone had a huge sad at M&Ms because they made their blocks in China but they'll happily eat McDonald's burgers 😂 (the ketchup, Oreo and M&Ms are all definitely made in China)

Also, these were definitely overpriced for what they are. No wonder they've always on sale everywhere.

    • -1

Some of the Oreo types a made in Indonesia and Mexico so they're probably worse

      • +1

Honestly I'll eat stuff made in China by large companies happily. I don't see the big deal.

      • +3

Bundles of Mexican oreos are getting flung over trumps wall

    • +2

Agreed, I don't mind that they're made in China, most of the food found on our shelves contains imported ingredients these days. They definitely weren't worth the $3-4 per block they were charging but are easily worth $1.

As for the tainted food examples others are bringing up, these usually affect the local market as exported products are subject to the regulations of the destination. Not making light of the awful tragedies that have occurred, especially the baby formula.

  • +1

Is it at one Coles or all??

  • +5

No thanks, they’re Made In CHINA!!!!!

    • +4

How anybody would buy a product from that country that you put inside your body just amazes me. There's a long history of dodgy stuff with food sourced from China. Just not worth the risk.

  • +1

Basically every thing we buy unrelated to food is made in China

  • "This is a list of companies who either own factories, or have contract factories producing their products
in China. Some of the companies produce 100% of their products there, and others only produce parts,
or certain ingredients for their products. The list below is approximately 1% of the actual Corporate list."

    • +1

      F…. me… I don’t think I see a large company off that list.
I’m not worried about manufacturing in China, so long as it’s not FOOD!

      • +1

I get TV remotes from there with buttons mixed up

  • +3

We probably all unknowingly consume large amounts of made in China food when the label says "made from local and imported ingredients"

    • +1

      Or from New Zealand.

      • Excessive sheep dup?

        • +3

          "Exsissive"

        • +4

China ship food to New Zealand that is packaged and labeled there and exported here as Product of New Zealand.

        • Why don't we just start to gardening again?

  • Full price at my local coles :(

  • +1

These were a dud. I can see why they'd be reduced to $1. I didn't realize these were made in China. I don't think I'll be picking up the other ones for $1 then.

  • +1

OP what store was this at?

    • I am pretty sure they have this at my Woolies

  • These were delicious. Loved the almond.

  • +4

This isn't national, so it needs the actual store listed.

  • Good deal but damn this chocolate was nasty.
I'm a chocoholic but I passed on this brand, it just wasn't all that good.

    • Perhaps 8 years ago Woolworths stocked for Christmas large boxes of chocolates with the brand name Saxon & Turner … made in China.

      • +1

Not really sure what you're getting at?

        • They too weren't all that good.

  • +1

How did this deal go from $1 M&ms to China shipping frozen vegetables to Australia via New Zealand?

    • I think the point being made was that those that are whipping up fear about eating food from China are more than likely already consuming food from China and just don't know it!

I have no issue with Chinese food, although I do support changes to labelling as it is grossly deceptive having a product that is merely packaged in NZ being sold as a product of NZ. Greedy multinationals!

Anyway couldn't find this deal in my local stores either. :(

  • These were 2 for $7 at Coles Kurri Kurri NSW today and the shelves only had a few bars.

  • I've seen these still at $2.40 or 2 for $7. Either way won't be going near them if they're made in China!
