I think the deal was marked expired because you can no longer sign up to the deal, but you can still use it if you've saved it to your card. Is that correct?

    • +5

      Correct

      • :( too late for me then!

    • when was this deal? Can't believe i missed it?!

  • +1

This would be the cheapest. But alas I missed out on the AMEX offer, otherwise I definitely would have spent $1200 at HN (I have 3 cards).

So I will probably just to feel better, not buy anything at HN that would have been $100 off if I had the offer, or buy anything from anywhere else if HN had it for the same price. Otherwise I'll feel that I lost $100.

I want that Mario Odyssey bundle which I think was $435 but sold out quickly.

  • All these cheap deals! Holding on til post-xmas sales, if they're still this price then it will be very hard to refuse…

  • -1

    TARGETED

  • Nevermind found it..

  • -3

$299 with AmEx + Cheap Item

is very misleading as you should be providing specifics of this to assist the OzBargain community.

    • I believe that it's because the deal is for a $300 spend, so you just need to buy something worth $1 or more :)

  • I don't have Amex card.. sigh

Sorry, I'm a noob, where and which Amex to get to entitle to all these good deals? Mind to share?

      • +3

You might as well not reply

        • -1

Lol so many negs. U could have easily done ur own research.

          @sauce2k:

Isn't Ozbargain is to share tips on savings n bargain?

I doubt you know much about Amex too,

So, stop complaining others who asked for recommendation politely here.

        • -1

          @sauce2k:

I can see that u have quite a few posts asking for someone's suggestion here too, why don't you "google.com.au" too?

          Get a life kid

        • -1

@DarthLord: yeh I’ve also learned and being told to google or do my own research.

I also wasn’t complaining I just said go look up on google. Lol tel me to get a life and then you go on to look up my previous posts..this isn’t primary school mate, r you even old enough to get an Amex? Mr tough guy

    • +2

You are already at the right site, just do a search for Amex.

    • +7

They are through the Amex website. When you get an Amex there is an 'Offers' tab both in the app and when you login to the Amex website. It lists all the offers available to you and you just click 'Save To Card' and then its activated on your account. Its best to do this immediately as most offers are limited to the first 10,000 people (for example) to save the offer.

If you don't want to pay a yearly fee, I would go for the Velocity Escape card. $0 yearly fee, 1 points earned per dollar on every purchase, 2 points per dollar on Virgin Australia purchases. I believe you will also receive 10-15,000 bonus points on sign up with a referral link. Its best to redeem for flights, though you can redeem for gift cards or anything. 7800 points will get you a flight from Melbourne to Sydney, 15600 will get you that flight in business class.

Mod: Referral solicitation not allowed in comments.

This is very helpful instead of some guys just say "google"

Thank you so much for someone with experience getting benefits out of Amex cards

This is probably the new normal price thanks to Amazon listing it for $399. :)

    • +1

Yep, a lot of people shit on Aus amazon for not having the lowest prices but they don't realise the more competition the better especially one everyone has to compare against.

      • That's the eBay shills for ya.

      • Consoles are usually small margin item (they make profit on the games). Cuts like this are usually due to price drops from the brand.

Same happened with Xbox One S a few weeks ago.

    • And JB is cheaper than that too. $379

  • +1

It's worth noting that unless your local HN has stock, you might be waiting a while for a Switch to be delivered. I ordered mine over a week ago and I'm still waiting. Live chat couldn't even give me an ETA on when it would be delivered to my local.

    • JB had choice of neon and grey available today; no idea what their stock levels are though.

  • Cheap item = $2 SIM card.

    • +1

would be a good idea to get a game

  • Just waiting on the Xbox one x to drop before end of year so I can hopefully use the Amex offer on something worthy lol

JBHIFI 5% off $399 with Wicked Wed code = $379.05

    • Will Harvey Norman price match the 5% off JB Hifi price?

  • +5

Why neg my comment for askin if a fellow member can help? Why all the negativity?
I believe this community was to help each other score bargains, not BS with neg votes for asking for help…

    • +1

Have noticed what appears to be some troll (possibly a few socks too) behaviour lately. Best to ignore them and pay no heed to the negs.

      • +1

It's not lately, It's rampant everywhere. If the negs weren't limited to 5 a day the whole site would be in the red.

        • Don't see why we should even have need for any negs; mostly serve to just give trolls their jollies. A report (for inappropriate) function and positives would be better I think. Then I guess the trolls would be on a reporting frenzy though …

Have not spent too much time on OzBargain recently, as was trying not to spend … and that is jolly difficult when so many great deals are being posted. Just seems to be far more than the usual number of negs, and for absolutely no discernable reason.

Got meself the switch forn $301 after amex cashback, thanks OP!

  • Does anyone know if ebgames will price match the console?

    • Asked Tuesday afternoon; EB Games wouldn't price match the BigW price $367 of last week. I also mentioned Amazon Au had advertised $399 today, with free delivery. We wanted 3 games and screen protector to buy also. May just be that shop manager though; Cranbourne. We went and bought immediately from JB then. I don't have an Amex card though.

    • AFAIK EB Games will not price match consoles or bundles.

  • +2

Errr buy a game to get over the threshold for Amex lol

  • +2

just singed up to say thnaks for the deal :) been waiting for this for a while. ohoo

    • Yay! :)

  • How many people have amex cards is it the majority.
I always see these deals come up and feel like I'm missing out.

I'm unable to sign up for an Amex card due to bad credit from mistakes I made years ago.

    Sucks.

    • +1

I have never applied for one because the yearly card fee is quite high. Is there a AMEX card free of card fees (not just the first year)?

      • Yes, several.

      • +1

Amex qantas discovery, amex velocity escape and amex essentials. Look for a referral in ozb.

  • So if I have amex I can do this?

    • +1

Only if you have previously saved the AMEX Harvey Norman offer

      • @Sasuk3

I only found this in my email.

"Now all you need to do is use your registered American Express® Card and spend $300 or more, in one or more transactions, in-store at Harvey Norman or online at harveynorman.com.au to get a $100 credit. Credits are generally issued within 5 business days of an eligible transaction but may take up to 90 days from offer end date. Be quick - this offer is only available until 30 December 2016. Terms and Conditions apply."

        Can I use this?

        Cheers.

      • Thanks for the info. Looks like I missed out then! Does this happen often? Seems like a ridiculously good deal.

  • +1

    The Amazon effect :)
Say what you want about their launch, this is a direct result.

Just a few days ago the consensus was 'Nintendo products don't go down in price'

  • Already have a switch anything else worth buying?

    • +1

      GTX 1070 for $499

      • Need 1080TI but getting over having to upgrade my PC gfx card every year due to developers not optimising games properly. Still on 980Ti but I'll be honest, enjoying my PS4 Pro more these days.

  • I did $399 + "Shipping" as my cheap item to get it over the line.
NOTE: I tried saying "Could you please make it $400 instead of $399".
The rep asked me to hold on while he checked, and then "Sorry, unfortunately we cannot do this" lol.

    • +1

You: I'll pay more than you're asking, shut up and take my money!

Rep: Sorry, unfortunately we cannot do this.

You: Fine, add this $1 paperclip and shut up and take my money.

      Rep: Certainly.

      • Lol

    • They can definitely do this instore - they've added an extra $1 for me before!

      • Well they didn't for me! lol

    • They can't sell a product for more than the advertised price, it's against the law.

  • How do you actually get these Amex offers?

    • +1

      By force

    • Seems like they're posted on AMEX's site. If you have a card, you watch for their offers on their site and then register for the offer you're interested in. Seems this one was limited, and I didn't even know there was such a thing as AMEX offers before this morning.

      • +1

Most have a limit of however many thousands. If you've got an Amex card issued by Amex, they appear on their site, and in the app, or there's manual enrolment links where you enter your card number.

If your card is issued elsewhere (eg, CBA), you have to keep an eye out for the manual enrolment links though occasionally the offers are emailed to you as well.

    • Best way is to download the Amex app and there is an offer option in the menu. Then click “save to your card”

  • Seems unavailable for pickup at most stores in Sydney . Does anyone know if the Amex deal include the delivery fee so that I don’t have to order extra item to meet the $400 requirement? Thanks in advance.

    • +2

Just let u guys know it’s working and I received the Amex email instantly

    • just called amex and they confirmed as long as the final amount billed to your card is above $400, you will be eligible for the $100 cashback.

    • dont pay delivery fee to HN, sign up with shipster to get 2 months free.

      • Plus delivery fee, it exceeds $400. I know I could buy a SIM card for $2 and the delivery fee is $7.95. I think myself labor cost to use shipster is more than the gap. Anyway thanks for the tip.

      • thanks for the tip, will do that next time!

  • Damn I really don't want a Switch but this is so cheap.. and I have nothing else to spend my amex offer on

  • -2

Damn…I bought it online at 456 incl delivery charge on Monday and now this has dropped to 300. Anyone has any idea that HN will refund me the difference?
And I used with the AMEX offer so i'd prefer they make it 400. Is that negotiable?

    • +2

i dont get it. when did the price drop to $300? It is now $399.

      • +1

There was an AMEX deal spend $400 receive $100 statement credit back on your account for use at Harvey Norman (long since expired). For those that saved the offer to their AMEX card(s) if they buy the $399 Switch and a $1 item from Hardly Normal they'll effectively get the Nintendo Switch for $300.

        • +2

          yes, i understand that bit.

but Gelato bought it online at $456. this price is still before a $100 statement credit.

        • @PissLUR: I suspect they bought it for $456, got credited for $100. Now they're trying to get $56 back from Hardly Normal via their 7 day post-purchase price match guarantee. But you're right - it doesn't say that.

        • +2

@Symbiotic: yep you got it. thanks for clarifying

        • @Gelato: Did you have any luck getting that $56 back?

        • +1

@Symbiotic: they said they've processed it, but takes up to 5 business days to reflect on my bank account. I only got $49 back (448 - 399 = 49). Originally paid extra for delivery charge

      • +2

my bad, typo made when i was shocked to read this new price

        • +1

since you purchased online, you can use the live chat to claim the difference.

        • +2

@PissLUR: yep you're correct, they confirmed that they will credit me the difference. yayy :)

  • They haven't post my Nintendo switch from 26/11.

    • +2

That kind of behaviour is Hardly Normal. Seriously though that's very poor form!

    • +1

I ordered one a little later than that, and got it last week.
      Call them.

      • +1

Just called them, and they are saying they are expecting item to be in stock today or tomorrow, and will upgrade to same day shipping for me. Hopefully they stick to their words.

  • +1

Just bought in HN with amex

    • +1

      I miss-read.
Thought you bough HN with an Amex lol.

      • +1

        Obviously a professional ozbargainer

  • Bought it when it launched at full price and don't regret a cent, got more playtime out of my Switch than any other console in recent years. At this price it's a no brainer.

  • Users offering/requesting to share the amex statement credit offer, please comment in the Amex Harvey Norman Statement Credit Sharing Thread and not in this deal.

  • Quick question, did anyone purchase directly from HN at Domayne and had the credit on the statement?

  • Lol, they just jacked the price up to $448 after I waited for them to bring it back into stock.
