I always turn the vibration off to be safe.

      • That's maybe 70% effective.

You should put it in a rubber glove.

    • 😀

    • If you're afraid of such a minute value of radiation, do you even ever leave the house? The sun is a literal nuclear fission reactor.

  • didnt know we can actually buy things from AU amazon

I got one this morning at HN price matched.

Once stock was confirmed, asked for price match, no problems, said Amazon and showed the price. A flat out refusal that Amazon isn't an acceptable store. Casually mentioned that Gerry said he'd match Amazon on any price…. Dude went to his manager and it was approved 5 minutes later. Bought a $2 item on clearance at the register for my $401 total for AMEX rebate.:-)

    • Didn't work here. Only match Big W one.

  • Jb is also price matching amazon au. Got them to price match a game yesterday.

  • The future is now particularly now Amazon is here

    • +1

      Now now.

        Like, now now, now?

I just realised the Switch and PS4 pro are the same price. The Switch is seriously expensive! I did the HN Amex deal on mine but it's a pricey bit of kit! Zelda and Mario have no equal though.

    • Yeah. It's just a pricey handheld (I own one and love it).

No diff to the vita when that came out.. except that the switch has killer games at release. That's the difference, and super important to it's success.

      • No diff to the vita

Actually supported by Nintendo and doesn't have those bullshit, expensive proprietary memory cards and accessories.

        • They were both pricey handhelds with similar total price at launch. Memory cards included in that.

I don't like the pricey proprietary memory cards either, but we are talking apples and apples.

Not sure what you mean about lack of Sony support. Do you mean exclusives?

Whatever you mean, I'd argue it was supported better than the "new 3ds"

OTOH, Nintendo must support the switch. It will take over from the new 3ds in a few years as the switch really is a portable not a home
          console.

I own all the major consoles/handhelds since the dreamcast, the only true disappointment for me was actually the new 3ds. I felt like I got nothing for my $. But it was my dumb fault for buying it

        • @justtoreply:

Just replying in regards to you saying that you didn’t know about the lack of support from Sony about the Vita - Personally, I like my vita, mainly for Ps1 games but still - however, it’s a very very widely known fact that Sony came out and stated that they found that people don’t want a handheld as much as they thought hence they are not supporting handhelds (Vita) as much/any more. A rediculous load of statements, but it happened. Basically they made many bad decisions with it that lead to low sales numbers and then lead to them alluding that people don’t want handhelds so they stopped support and didn’t provide much to start.

        • @Mortal Krumpet:

Ah, ok. Fair enough. Pretty dumb thing for Sony to say.

I found plenty of games to enjoy, and prefer portable gaming (sitting on the TV at home just really doesn't work unless you live alone). That said, I use public transport, which most people don't do.

    • Eh I'll take Drake and Eloi over Zelda and Mario. Personal preference though.

  • how do you avoid issues with your switch game library when it dies/moves on?

    • +1

What do you mean??? are you reffering to digital games??? The Switch games are on cartridge that (unlike Ps4) don’t require install. A couple of devs have unfortunately opted for small cartridge sizes requiring downloads but that is a small number of them. (2k and a rockstar game).

If you mean digital games, then that’s the same as any other system as well?

      • I thought digital games for Nintendo were locked to the hardware and not to an account like other consoles.
Meaning you buy a digital copy of xyz game on the Switch you have now and it can't be installed on a replacement/new switch you buy later. Other consoles like PS4, the xyz game is just in a library that you download onto any of your future consoles.

That's what I read about Nintendo items, unless it's changed when the switch came out.

  • Just debating whether to get this since my son doesn't want the games bundled in the BIG W and EB deals. I asked in EB the other day if the games could be swapped but he said that you could only trade them in - I didn't ask how much trade-in credit they offer though.

    • go for this one man, amazon has fast delivery and good customer service/warranty. plus the delivery is free!

    • Buy wish cards, buy from big w, it costs you less than this and the game comes FREE. Take game and sell for profit, give it away for Xmas , use it as frisbee, who cares, this is more expensive and no free game.

      • +2

big w delivers after xmas. by that time GT sport value will diminish

        • -1

What’s a lower value than FREE? If you have GT Sport and value it less than free I am happy for you to pay me to take it off your hands :)

  • I went in store to see if they would price match Amazon at $399 (and found some $6 batteries to bump over $400 for Amex promo).

The sales guy (who seemed new) didnt think they could do that, but said they could do the same console plus GT game for $419 so I took it (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/348366). Have already had the Amex promo notification, and I am now home with both the console and the game.

    • Yes, HN is price matching the Big W sale which is $419. It's even on their website now.

  • +1

Well at least Amazon IS having an effect. Give it a few years imo, glad our prices are at least going to come in line with a reasonable 'australian tax'. As someone that has both lived here and the US, and felt the effects of both poor and rich sides, we can afford to pay a little more here. Not MUCH more, but a little bit more.

That aside, I really wanna pull the trigger on this… but with boxing day coming I'm not sure if I should wait for a bundle near this price. D: Ugh choices.

  • So which colour you guys buying? :)

    White look clean though..

    • +1

the white looks more like a toy IMO. black looks classier

      • When is a game console not a toy ?

After 3 years with a black PS4 I bought a white Pro yesterday - just for a change.

The black shows the dust too much. Buying a new PlayStation was easier than dusting every few days :D

        • cleaning the ps4 every few days is a good idea anyway IMO

  • good price. thx

  • $448.96 now.

  • good price. thx

  • Edit: anyone know how I can change my order to white?
