  • Would it arrive before Christmas?

I ordered a TCL 65er from them took a week to ship.

They were booked out around Brisbane area until the new year. I paid an extra $30 to have it delivered by their courier this week.

      • +2

I'll probably wait for boxing day sales to avoid devastation of better price with no TV to show for it.

Last Christmas, I placed an order, but the very next day, they sold it away.
This year, to save me from tears, I'm gonna pick it up myself…

      • +1

Ha Ha, Probably comment of he year!

Anyone have experience ordering from these guys before?

    • I've bought headphones from them.
      Arrived within a week.
      Seemed reliable.

      • I've bought a TV and a soundbar from these guys. They're in Brisbane and I'm in Melbourne and no dramas at all.

        Great customer service as well.

OS is way better on the LG as well as the remote, having had both the Hisense and LG (kids keep breaking them) the rest is here nor there.

    • +1

      Expensive kids!

      • +1

3rd TV this year, would have been a lot more expensive without ozbargain!

    • And that's why I still have my 9 year old Samsung L46a850. It's littered with fingerprints

    • Buy a TV screen protector, it is worth it in your case.

    • I have 4 kids and remote remain good:) you must have very young kids!!!

  • Damn, where are the 70 - 75" deals

  • Is now a good time to buy TV's given that CES is just around the corner?

    • What’s CES?

      • "Consumer Electronics Show" Basically the show is where a bunch of new tech stuff (like TVs) is announced and shown for the first time. Its always in early January

  • Is this better than the $1500 jbhifi 65inch Samsung smart tv?

    • +1

I'm pretty sure(if it's the same deal) that the Samsung doesn't support HDR10, this Hisense does. From reviews this TV punches well above its weight for the price.

I ended up going with the TCL 65c2us though. Was 1476 delivered with a $150 eftpos card. So effectively $1326. Great TV so far. Has android TV so slotted into my Kodi setup nicely.

    • +1

Yeah I'd say so. I bought the 65n7 from TGG last week at this price - after spending quite a while researching. This has HDR10 + local dimming, the samsung does not.

At this price point it's really either the Hisense or the TCL c2 - both punch above their weight, and outclass the bigger + similarly prices bigger name brands. TCL runs android and has better software, slightly cheaper, the Hisense has a bit of a better picture.

If you can stretch the budget a bit, then the Sony x8500e or x9000 would be next in line for me. But you're looking at closer to the $2000 mark on sale.

      • do you watch sports etc on it? Soccer/Football? How does it perform? I was checking this out, then shifted away looking at 200htz sets like the MU7000. But im not sure if im getting sucked into marketing.

        • Nope - I haven't watched any sports on it yet and likely wont be as TV is upstairs and has no antenna (and indoor ones suck). Bought it mainly for blurays.

It does have that smooth motion 100Hz setting, but I absolutely hate that shit when watching movies. I turned it off pretty quick.

If you want a TV for sport, then having the blackest blacks, HDR and all that jaz probably isn't that big of a deal. The smooth motion crap definitely makes things 'smoother' - so maybe it's good for sports, but for movies it just makes them look weird and introduces some artifacts.

  • I seen this at JB yesterday was not impressed with the
    Picture.

They did have a Sony for around $2k which was nice.

    • +13

Sometimes it's what they're putting through it that's the problem, not the TV.

    • I was tossing up between this and the Sony X90E after having seen both of them at JB hifi. The X90E’s best price is around $2300, and I didn’t think the picture was ~$700 better on the Sony.

      • -2

        that's because it's not…
        the x93 however, that's a different story,
also sonys' colors may not be as good as others in general, but they always have better motion handling, which is more important than you might think

    • +1

It's cause of the junk they play on it - they're not showcasing it's full potential.

When I saw this TV at TGG they were just playing free to air TV.

    • I seen this at JB yesterday was not impressed with the Picture.

Probably due to lack of calibration, poor source content and/or bright viewing environment.

  • +4

    @Soluble

I can't for the life of me understand why so many places do this.

My local JB and Good Guys will do this where they will show just normal SD or if you are lucky HD free to air TV. Makes them all look the same apart from the out of the box brightness and colour calibration for each panel.

Even if they are playing blurays its seem like it goes through some shitty splitter that results in a bunch of artifacts in the picture.

Surprised the big brands don't have strict guidelines for this stuff.

    Does this have Dolby Vision?

After owning this TV for the last 7 months i could not recommend it more highly!!!!!!!! For the money it smashes everything and smart options work very very well. Never missed a beat and amazing quality picture. With a good sound bar it is the best TV i have owned and ive owned Grundig,lg,Sony and Aldi brands:)
I have 7 TV's in my house and the 65n7 smashes them all by miles:) The only fault i can find with the TV is i dont own 2:)

    • Tony, can you comment the snappiness of the remote compared to Lg and Sony that you've owned?

Also, can you sideload apps on this N7, like Plex or other android apps?

      • Remote works very and is quick. Sorry i dont know about sideloading:)

  • Anyone have an opinion on whether the TV's built in scaler would be better or worse than an XBox One S's (15-20GB BR rips via Plex and FTA TV through a TV Tuner) ?

Already use our XBox One for all media consumption through a 1080P plasma. Unsure whether to do the same but with a One S to get 4k output, or let the TV do the work.

  • +1

I have this and I don't understand why there is so much hype about this TV. The picture quality is good and smart TV functions are not bad but it's not that much different than the TCL tv I upgraded from. Also you will have hard time finding proper 4k 10 bit HDR contents. Netflix 4k HDR is just rubbish.

  • I've owned this TV for about a month now from the previous Harvey Normal deal and very happy with it generally so far. Just one thing I couldn't figure out, which is about its "AnyView Cast" feature. Anyone had any luck with that feature to cast video from your mobile (Android or iPhone) or from Macbook Pro?

    • Yeah I use it all the time. It is like Chromecast. As long as the tv is powered (it can be on or off) anyview cast is available. I find that it works just as well as chromecast and not had any issues with it. I use it to cast from my android phone can't comment on other platforms sorry.

  • Price has gone back up?

    • Just got to the store to price match fml…

  • Is it expired? Showing up $1895 for me

  • Anyone know about SDR and HDR gaming lag on these TVS (HIsense)? Rtings doesn't seem to consider them…

    • +1

I read somewhere it is about 30s ms on N7. Not sure SDR or HDR.

      • Thanks @windwai

It's an issue because SDR can be good and HDR bad and vice-versa.

Worried that it will be fine for the teenagers with current gen (SDR) machines but when they upgrade to next gen (HDR) machines it will be poor, or the other way around.

Rtings.com has a list of TVs that have great times for both SDR and HDR but, unfortunately, it doesn't include Hisense brand - I guess they are not big in the US or go by another brand.

  • For anyone who missed this, it's now $1560 Delivered on their eBay store

    • says $1895 for me?

      • Use the coupon “POWERUP” :)

        • Any idea if the shipping will before January?

  • If anyone sees a deal on the 55" or 65" N7 like the goodguys deal again can you pleaaaase notify me, i missed the last 20% off goodguys deal because of ebay errors and im kicking myself so bad.
