  • so the deal is inactive…

      Hope you're being sarcastic.

Should at least post it on Monday because by Tuesday this deal wouldn't be on the front page anymore.

    • -4

People will have forgotten about the deal by the time it comes around. Posting early. Don't know why people post so early.

    • +3

if no one sees it then we're more likely to get them =p

  • +10

just to let people know early?
if people want this they will remember it

  • What hard drive does this device use? Would it be inappropriate to use it as a OS harddrive (i'll use the enclosure for a different drive)?

I seem to be unable to find any specs on these. How fast are they, etc?

I think it's good people post early. We can diarise it if we're interested… and we can make arrangements to check back at midnight or compare prices or take time off to go to the shop. If 1 day or very good deals are posted late, we might miss it. You blink you lose, if the deals are good. Why do people here whinge so much??

    • +1

we whinge cause were cheapskates (:

  • Are these one day deals available online?

  • +1

i think its good people post early. look what happened when someone posted the wireless 1 deal on logitech, it gave time for fluidtek to compete against their prices. also i would rather know before hand than to find out last minute where i would have to rescedule myself.

  • is this USB or AC powered?

    • +1

AC powered as its 2tb. USB powered has a max of 1tb and 2.5" size.

  • +1 for people posting as early as possible. If you cant diarise it then miss not only the bargains, but the other stuff in life that requires us to sync our times and prioritize. Hope this site doesn't get to that point - 'oh no, you posted the bargain too early'.

  • I agree with deals getting posted early (maybe not like a month earlier, but a couple of days is fine with me). I usually put a reminder on my phone/diary just to remind myself to checkout the deals on that day, so +1 from me :)

I think the original comment was to do with our position on coupon sales and/or the rejection of the apple black friday sale.

Both of the above are vague. The Coupon deals because they are NOT active and depend on acceptance before becoming active. So they are not valid deals at the point of posting AND may never be.

The initial Black Friday deal post for Apple didn't have any details on what the deal would be. Again not a valid deal. And how do you vote on something you dont know whats being offered. It was ok to post that in the forums, and when the details were known it could be posted.

Otherwise if someone had posted the actual deal, it could be argued its been posted already. So the forums are appropriate.

As for deals like this, getting advance warning helps. MSY is not always easy for many to drop in on. Being aware early means the ability to plan. Likewise Coles and Woolies deals are often advised earlier, that helps and we know what the deal and cost is.

I guess the real test is, whether it makes sense and doesn't flood the site with too many of these…

CentreCom has the same deal and available now.

Can we bring to Office Works and ask for Price match ???

    • Thanks for the info, just looks like different models: MSY "Iomega Select", CentreCom "Iomega Prestige", wondering which is better?

    • Can we bring to Office Works and ask for Price match

      Don't think OW sell them…

  • I bought a 500mb iomega last year and aside from the ridiculously slow transfer rate, it died on its second use. Theres a reason its so cheap…

    • +4

wow, 500mb, i think you got ripped off

Negged for making fun of him. Actually i hit the wrong button. Sry ;((((

Btw to the guy who had the drive dead, i hope you get a replacement after that

  • anyways, these are bound to get cheaper (around the price of 1tb Hd) because 3TB Hd are coming out to replace the price of the 2TB HD

  • The picture on the banner is Prestige model, not the Select.

Box Hill - VIC Brand is out of stock.

  • How well does it perform in terms of transfer speed?

    • As well as USB 2.0 will allow it to - approximately 25 megabytes per second.

  • got 2 pieces from WA Blacatta
