Thanks got all 3! Delivery was $26 which is crazy so picking up

  • +1

Pro quality Hitachi. Delivery is only $11.60 for me on 2 items (no muff) but going to pick up instore. Thanks OP.

  • $10.69 shipping for the Drill Set and 8m tape (same without the tape) so $30.49 for both delivered sounds like a good deal, right?

    • Well a similar Ryobi deal for $20 got 92 votes recently and I would imagine these are better quality. A half decent 8m tape measure from Bunnings is $10 so I reckon its a gooddealmate.

      • Cheers, I had to make a decision pretty much on the spot so I ordered both of the above. Added another 40c or so for insurance. Bargain deal.

  • +5

Good deal. Free shipping for orders over $59, which when I called is OK for anything up to 1.2m or up to 20kg if that helps anyone.

Can some tell me more about the drill driver set as their page won’t load. It appears their servers might be getting……drilled. But seriously….what’s in it?

  • Can anyone vouch for the quality of the drill set?

    • +1

If anything be better than the ryobi

      • Haha, thanks. That was the only one I was a really going to compare it with.

      • That's not a fair comparison lol. What about the sets by Frost or Sutton or whatever it's called. Or compared to those mixed sets by DeWalt Makita etc at a Bunnings.

        • +1

Father in law handyman said Hitachi is very good brand, set has everything you need for odd jobs.

      • Cheap staff for Oz market with very limited selection.. so sad

      • -1

I'm not implying that these are top quality but you've conveniently filtered your link to only show 1 star reviews.

        • Yes, to show feedback on quality. The higher stars tended to focus on price.

        • @ihbh:

Doesn't exactly give a balanced overview. 1 star reviews are only 6% of reviews…62% have given 5 star reviews.

        • @OzBragain: You don't get much insight with that kind of calculation. A lot of the 5 star reviews didn't have usage comments. To each his own.

        • @ihbh:

You don't get much insight with that kind of calculation

The insight comes from reading a broad range of reviews both good and bad, using judgement to discount people who have no idea at both ends of the spectrum. Only reading the 1 star reviews will never give you a balance overview.

        • @OzBragain: Agree, that's what I did too. I should have elaborated that the 1 stars made good mention of quality issues and they didn't all sound like noobs. The 5 star ones focused more on the cheap price etc.

    • I've had for the last 2 years paid around $30-35. It's great. has what I need 95% of the time. I just grab and go with it.
Drill bits are more than serviceable haven't had one break on me yet. Not your top of the line Sutton or similar but around the house they do the job comfortably (and are actually straight unlike some of the cheap crap….)

I may have just ordered 2 more…. so I can keep one in my car permanently with a drill…

    LOL

  • Thanks OP.

Just brought the drill set and tape plus other stuff to make it free del

  • Anything else good to get? want free delivery

    • They still have the Dewalt hammer drill from the black Friday deal on sale

    • Interestingly they seem to be selling an exact replica of the JBL Xtreme for $129

Specs are identical and these normally go for around $270.

Surely just a rebadged model? Very tempted though…

      • Tempting, but from previous experience with the replica jbls there seems to be a real difference, but maybe it works out value wise with the lower cost, idk

    • I was looking for a new multi tool to replace my dead ozito.

      Bayer BMU300 Quick Release Oscillating Multi-Tool $59

Can't find reviews but looks good - has a quick release function.

  • I wish the Hitachi USB charger wasn't $40. It's a cool idea but at that price you might as well buy a proper power bank.

    • I have seen it for about $26 ish

  • Is Xtorque stuff any good generally? They have a drill bit set for $17 which covers a wide range of sizes and from what I can see quickly they haven't duplicated each bit a dozen times lol

  • rubbish quality. I have only drilled 4 holes on brick and 3 bit all gone. I paid us$28.25 on 2013 from Amazon USA.

    • +1

Did you use the masonry bits?

    • +1

It sounds like you did not use a masonry bit at all. Even a rubbish masonry bit would not go blunt after 4 holes.

  • Great deal if you can "pickup"…..

  • I have the Craftright masonry drill bit set from Bunnings.

    https://www.bunnings.com.au/craftright-15-piece-masonry-dril…

When first use, it is very easy to drill into brick walls. After some use I think the bits are worn (although I can't visually see a chip on the bit) but many of the drill bits are now harder to drill into the walls. I am looking to replace these.

Would the hitachi ones outlast 2 sets of the Craftright ones? The craftright is only $8 so is about 1/2 of the Hitachi set (although the hitachi has other bits which I may not use).

  • nice

  • Anyone know if the masonry bits from the mentioned $15 set will work effectively in a standard drill (not a hammer drill)? Only using them in case I hit a wall while drilling through plasterboard etc.

  • lol this is a pretty random 10 piece combo on the site (no it isn't chicken)

    https://sydneytools.com.au/hitachi-mps18-ha-18v-6-0ah-li-ion…

  • Also, holy crap, $26 delivery? For a tape measure and drill bit kit? No thanks.

  • +1

any good vs a bosch set? any real life users here?

  • Purchased 2 sets of the drill set (one as a gift), the tape measure, the claw hammer, a set of screw extractors and a 10 in one torx driver - came to $60.60 which just exceeds the threshold to get free shipping.

    Thanks OP!

  • I bought this along with the Hitachi measuring tape & beanie. Its metric (the drill bits not the beanie) and I cant see it being any worse than Ryobi.

I got a Hitachi table saw recently & I'm very happy with that. It looks like I am on "team green" for the moment.

  • ordered this morning, got a call within hours to say the orders are ready for pickup. went to their store/warehouse this afternoon on Boxing Day, Staff are friendly and professional. Located in Brookvale where lots of tradies live around to the beaches. Very quality stuff used by the tradies. Bargain. Good tools will be handy around home for DIY.

I nearly bought the drill/driver set until I saw how many multiples it includes

Magnetic insert bit holder: 60mm length, 1/4” hex, zinc chrome plated steel
    Drill bits: black oxide – 1mm (3), 1.5mm (3), 2mm (3), 2.5mm (3), 3mm (3), 3.25mm, 3.5mm, 4mm, 4.5mm, 5mm, 6mm, 7mm, 8mm
    Drill bits: brad point – 3mm, 4mm, 5mm, 6mm, 7mm
    Masonry bits: 3mm, 3.5mm, 4mm (2), 5mm (2), 6mm, 7mm
    Spade bits: 13, 19, 25
    Nut drivers: 5, 6, 7, 8 ,9, 10
    50mm driver bits: #1 phil, #2 phil, #3 phil, 6-8 slot, 8-10 slot, 10-12 slot, #1 sq, #2 sq, #3 sq, 3 hex, 4 hex
    25mm insert bits: #1 phil (5), #2 phil (10), #3 phil (5), 4-5 slot, 6-8 slot (2), 8-10 slot (4), 10-12 slot (2), #1 sq (5), #2 sq (10), #3 sq (5), T15, T20, T25, T27, 1.5 hex, 2 hex (2), 2.5 hex, 3 hex (2), 4 hex (2), 5 hex, 6 hex

Okay for heavy usage where bits are constantly breaking/wearing out but probably not everyone

    • Good observation. Glad I didn't bite either.

  • Ordered yesterday afternoon, still waiting for call to pickup at Castle Hill.
    Deal is still active today.

  • Even with multiples still good value though. Can't go wrong with $14.95

  • Been waiting on this impact bit set to go sub-$50. It's a cracking set, use it regularly at work so wanted to get a set for home too. Very happy.

Picked up these drill bits along with it for good measure.
