Get me a Pixel XL 128GB deal from em so I can go get more money from JBHIFI ;)

  • +1

    Oh…price going down fast.

    • I've noticed this with the pixel, what gives?
a family friend had the pixel yesterday and I personally loved it. Currently, have an iPhone 6s plus, and am thinking of getting a pixel, but a general search on ozbargain, seems like there are screen issues, although I can't tell if its been fixed or not.

      • +3

The Pixel XL has the screen issue, the Pixel is fine !

        • ahh, Am I right to assume that the Pixel XL the same size as an iPhone plus
and the pixel is same size as iPhone?

        • +3

          @eltito:

          yeah, give or take.

        • +8

Even the Pixel 2 XL doesnt have issues. It was shipped with the colours muted and thats what freaked everyone out, there is now an option and its almost as good as any other screen. Ive owned 50+ android phones in the past 8 years and i can tell you the XL screen is fine.
The pixel 2 XL is now the best phone on the market.

      • lol got both my daughters pixel for xmas and on wants to change for iphone6. go figure:)

        • +2

it's been a day lol, probably don't know how to use it.

They need to get used to the Android life, much better than iPhone - just my opinion of course (I had a S5 / iPhone 6 Plus Simultaneously for work). Would have gone with the Pixel XL but ended up with the Note 8 during the Harvey Norman Sale in late November and the S Pen comes in handy for me.

        • I love my Samsung's heaps beater than apple:)

        • +2

Wow. I wish I was your daughter then hahahaha.

If I had an iPhone 6 I'd gladly trade it for a Pixel.

Alas I'll be stuck with my Nexus 5 until 2019.

        • @StrayfireX: My wife and i laughed, thinking give it a day or two!! My 19 year old son with 7+ iphone was cranky they got the the Pixel and not him:) I think they will work it out.

      • There is nothing wrong with the pixel but the screen on the XL. I switched from the Nexus6p to the pixel 2 xl and I really like it. the price does seem a high for it though. Glad its going down.

      • will the price go lower than $800 for the pixel 2?

    • So is the number of months left of updates. After 2yrs of updates (from the date of release) there will be no more feature updates to the phone. After 3yrs, your phone is left to fend for itself from security vulnerabilities.

      • Will anyone want to use an any Android phone after three years of progressively getting slower and slower due to the continuous software updates taking advantage of and expecting newer hardware?

  • do not think jb will price match this ebay deal

    • No

  • +14

Pixel 2 XL under 1K pretty please? :)

    • -1

      400 more for iphone x :)

  • +8

Both new Pixels are great phones despite some of the criticisms. Camera is incredible and it's the smoothest Android experience you can get. I recommend them and I've had iPhones and several Android devices including Samsung, LG, Nexus.

    • +4

A lot of people enjoy boring ass functionality and a great camera

    • +6

I've got the S8+ and I want to ditch it. Stupid fingerprint scanner location, and it lags way more than it should. So, give me boring over functionally challenged any day.

        • +12

Wow, thanks for the insulting reply.
I just use the phone. It appears Samsung inherently lag unless you don't ever turn it on.

Anyway, who gives a fruit what an engineer uses? I just want to make phone calls, text and take photos.

I compared it to a mate who had a Oneplus 5, and his phone is miles ahead in its responsiveness.

        • +1

@Fybre: load nova launcher on it see if it helps.

        • Let's please discuss and debate but do so respectfully.

        • Someone's salty over the performance of their sub-par Galaxy.

        • -5

          @Lorindor:

Oh look another expert. Someone who has never used the phone before.

        • +1

          @smuggler:

I've actually used and owned many different smartphones (especially those running Android) and it's exactly why I ended up with the Pixel, nothing compares to it in the flagship department.

      • +4

I owned a S8+ before, switched to Pixel 2 Xl last week. No complaints so far, very happy with that decision. I should have bought Pixel 2 in the first place, it is lag free compared to Samsung's touch wiz. Camera is way better than S8+.

        • I was considering the Pixel 2, but was a bit cautious due to the screen issues people seem to go on about.
I like the Oneplus 5, but I believe it doesn't have wireless charging, which I really like.

I was even considering jumping ship to the iphone X

The S8+ is overall the worst samsung phone I've used (I've had everything from the 5 up)

        • +1

@Fybre: I've been considering the two and was leaning toward the S8/8+ as I've been a long time Samsung user but looks like it might be worth giving the Pixel 2 a try based on above anecdotes.

        • @thektrinh: Well, I can only go from experience here. I liked the S7+, but the S8+ really annoys me. The camera is good, but the design is flawed with the fingerprint scanner (and yes I do use the iris scanner as well, but it isn't anywhere near as responsive as the iphone x facial recognition). The thing does lag as well, you kind of get used to it, but then you see someone else's phone that doesn't lag and you realise how bad it is!

        • @Fybre:

Not to mention the hardwired Bixby button…

        • @Fybre:

screen issue only on pixel 2 xl

        • @Fybre: I am waiting for a good deal for S8+ or Note 8, am surprised to see your S8+ lagging, as the flagship of this year it shouldn't be lagging. Have you tried turning off the Button option in one-handed mode?

    • +1

For me the fact that I don't need to get all the Samsung apps that Samsung believe will enrich my life and overall phone experience is reason not to get a Samsung phone.

Each to their own of course but I love the native os experience.

      And I don't own a Pixel.

  • +1

    Cheers OP, ordered one :-)

    • Don't forget to upvote to say thanks.

  • +1

Great price, waiting for a XL deal for my old man (non-XL screen too small).

  • Any good price on LG G6 DUAL or V30?

  • Hmmmm. Tricky. Have a mostly working N5X- just shuts down every now and then. I'm going overseas in a month so I'd get trs making this in the low 700s. Just wondering how low they'd go… Ironically just replaced the wife's S5 with an S7 via HN amex, own price match and trs for under $400. That's what's actually making it hard. Almost double the price. First World problems.

    <Tldr>

    • +2

Get it, you won't be disappointed!

      • Thanks. I bit the bullet while there was stock. Cheers.

  • So tempting! Can’t find a reason to ditch the OP3T yet though!

    • I am trying to find every reason

  • My pixel 1 just died after a year and I'm not impressed. Wish I'd bought an iPhone.

    • +6

If it's Australian stock, that's way under the 2 years of coverage under the ACL, so should be able to get refunded or replaced or repaired by the retailer or manufacturer.

      • Theyre repairing it but jb said it will be 3-4 weeks… Just to get my phone back in working order. For a 12 month old phone that cost $1280 it seems a bit rough to be without it for a month due to the device being faulty (my issue is apparently a common issue). Next time I'll go iPhone or keep it cheap with a one plus or a Xiaomi.

        • +1

If it doesn't turn on, that's a major fault and I would ask for a new replacement or a refund. Know your rights! Refund, repair or replace - you get to choose, not the retailer.

        • +2

I don't know your situation, but from your comments it sounds like you're waiting for an excuse to buy an iPhone.

        • @BoredMartian: I used to be a big Android Fanboy especially the Nexus devices, but nowadays iPhone and Google's flagships are very similar, so I figure It couldn't be any worse.

        • @FatBlanket: But if they're very similar as you say, and your impression of the Pixel is a bad one, why go back to the iPhones? Wouldn't your logic say they're just as bad?

        • @BoredMartian: my bad impression comes from reliability/QC and after service. I like the phone.

    • What happened to it?

      • Phone freezes and crashes and reboots whenever you use the dialer. Once you open the dialer, youre doomed until you reboot, even if you manage to quit the dialer any other app you open will crash. Even after two factory resets and installing no apps and running the phone in safe mode it still happens, so got to he a hardware issue.

        • The same thing has just happened to my phone, nothing seems to be able to fix it properly. I was told by Telstra that even though it's a known issue, because I have a scratch on the outside they'll just blame that as the cause. Do you know if JB do normal repairs (not under warranty)?

I love the phone, but this malfunction is so annoying. I, like you, have a phone that can't answer or make phonecalls…

        • +1

          @b0omp3z:
Why not get in touch with chat support on your pixel device? Looks like many users have this problem and Google is aware of this issue.
From reading online, several users have received replacements.

  • I've heard that the battery life for the Pixel 2 XL is good. What's the battery for the normal Pixel 2?

    • +2

well above average, the google software is super optimised

  • -1

JB is more expensive, but does have a Google Home Mini speaker included for free (and you can get it instantly with face-to-face customer service) :)

  • All colours now out of stock. Wonder what the chances are of more stock? Maybe the 128Gb version?

  • I ordered one too, but in the process of ordering autocorrect changed a character in my address. I emailed and asked them to changed the address, but they just got back to me now and said they have cancelled the order and told me order again.

Pretty awful customer service as the phone is out of stock on their website, not listed on eBay and I can't use the punch code anyway as it has expired.

Not a happy camper as I never told them to cancel the order!

    • +2

      Hi shambolic

      Sorry for the inconvenience

Normally we don't allow change whole address due to eBay/Paypal buyer/seller protection. however I can assist you if was the spelling error or required to change a character in your address. Please send me the PM with your order number and correct details.

      • Hi store rep, any stock for the black? Also does this deal include the Google mini home and the aiai earphones?

        • Hi Elanzer

Sorry, no Black one at moment. Doesn't come with Google mini home and aiai earphones

      • Ended up ringing the store and they helped me sort it out. Was able to order it in the second wave of stock that's on eBay now. Thanks Jay. I take back the rant above 🤗

eBay is showing 6 white and 4 blue available for anyone that's interested.

  • back in stock

  • +1

Wow. Long time iPhone user seriously tempted. There is simply no way I'm paying the premium to upgrade my iPhone 6 with Apple just not worth it to me. I will never pay more than $1000 for a device that's so easy to loose or break.

    • Same, iPhone 6 going to 8 or this. Don't like the fingerprint sensor being on the back though. Or Apple slowing down old phones.

      • +1

I had the Nexus 6p with the fingerprint scanner on the back and once you get used to it it's quite handy
