  • I still have the mini that I bought from them a while ago for $54 unopened. :(

I am seeing a pattern in OzBargainland. Not sure if there's a blacklist somewhere, but all that it takes is a certain action in a particular direction, and there seems to be a blind group that will follow suit. Interesting!

      • cheapies.nz has sprung a leak.

      • Daddy! LOL still in shock after the Trent comment?

        • +2

I really don't pay close attention to what goes on around here most of the time, but I am sensing there's some kind of groupie thing going on. If you even remotely come across as having opposing views on a product posted by "certain" individuals (while not even attacking the poster at all) then you're a dead man walking. lol

        • +2

          @AussieDaddy:

LOL I know exactly what you're talking about, there really does seem to be some sort of 'code' in terms of products and posters around here. Almost like a cult type thing deep in the shadows slowly shaping the conversation and deals LOL.

The lore of Ozbargain is a mysterious place.

      • There's a blacklist and if you try and investigate it scotty sends men in black helicopters to your house to probe you. Yes, probe you!

        • In other words, Big Brother is watching, eh? haha

        • @AussieDaddy: and if you give in… google is listening. I’m still getting one though.

        • +2

@rekabkram: Agreed. Suggest any deal that has been posted before, or anything that's <80% off previously seen and you'll get hate. Downvote something you genuinely don't think is a good deal and you'll get hate (even if it's 1 vote in 300). The OzBargain Illuminati is real. Be safe l, be vigilant. 😂😉

    • same , mine is also still not unwrapped …. i tried assistant on my smartphone while i waited for delivery and didn’t find it life changing ….. might try again using the home mini .

      • Sell it. A buyer might be ready somewhere. Hint hint !

  • Thanks.. In stock this time at a local store.

Waiting for it to drop to Chromecast price XDD

The Sony HTCT800 is amazing I can confirm this…
    Crisp sound, brilliant bass..

    • I saw a lot of bad reviews on Amazon, but this tipped the scale for me & bought it. Really sick of needing subtitles to watch movie because the audio is so poor.

    • Im needing to buy a soundboard however I'm not sure whether to buy this or the other good guys soundbar deal that was posted. I think it was the ht-rt3. Any help in making a choice?

    • I was deciding between this and the Sonos playbar

      • I was in the same boat before I pulled the trigger on this unit at JB yesterday, at $395. Would have liked to save the extra $50 (and then the % from CR), but these things happen.

The unit is brilliant. Only thing I can see that the Sonos has over this one, is that the Sony doesn't extend your wireless network. Sound quality has been great, we've been pumping the damn thing for the last 24 hours.

        • How is the voice level in movies?

        • @asa79:
I can’t be sure, but I did notice a ‘voice booster’ playback option. Could eliminate the use of subtitles for you. Even on movie mode voices sound clear.

        • @Saban: I bought one for my parents as they're getting on a bit and struggle to hear dialogue in movies & tv. Even on the default mode it was a huge improvement on their Sony Bravia TV so I'm sure the voice mode will be even clearer (there are two modes, low and hi, which boost vocal frequencies).

  • Should I upgrade to HT-CT800 from HT-CT780/790? Any big improvement on sound quality?

    • I was skimming some reviews and I think one of the major differences is that the 790's subwoofer was 50W lower. Dunno if there's too much else different

  • https://www.w00fer.nl/blog/chromecast-2-with-cheap-utp-netwo… makes ChromeCast 2 similar to Ultra for Ethernet connection

  • Error when making payment

    • Same for me, I've tried using different credit cards and PayPal and not getting anywhere :(

  • +1

Buying it direct from good guys store with 10% store credit and discounted gift card is cheaper

  • Isn't that the cheapest price yet for the google home? Impressive nonetheless

  • How does this soundbar compare to Samsung's soundbar at TGG for $341.10? https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/samsung-31ch-soundbar-340w-hw…

    • +1

Samsung doesn't do HDR or 4K (won't pass it through to the TV from the device)… So it's a worse deal unless you really don't have a tv that can do those and you never want one.

      • Damn I bought that Samsung soundbar yesterday, thought I got a good deal! :/

        • Just return it? Keep in mind, this unit is generally worth more than the Samsung’s price tag

  • And is the HT-TC800 compatible with the LG OLEDB7T TV? Cheers

    • It’s hdmi so works on every tv

      • +1

Cheers. Pulled the trigger. Will pick up in 30 mons👌

        • I've read some incompatibility issues but seems pretty rare. How did you get on?

  • Damn bought mine ct800 @jb for 396 I thought that was cheap until I saw this.

    • How do u find it? Looking for some reviews..

      • +2

If you watch normal TV channel, it's not loud. If you watch movie then it's good, it's better if you listen to music.

        • Hi

Did you find any problems while connecting to tv? I can get audio from all sources barring tv. Followed all trouble shootings.. Tv is a samsung one

        • +1

@bargain crazy: I couldn't initially get mine to work too but my lg has a simplelink function that somehow detected the sound bar plugged into the hdmi arc port which then managed to get it working. Maybe your Samsung has something like that.

        • @Heybargain:
Thanks mate.. It worked.. Actually if soundbar is off and i switch on tv first then turn on soundbar later then tv doesnt pick it up. Changed settings of soundbar to go on standby rather then off.. Happy with the sound.. Crisp…

      • Can confirm these speakers are amazing, agree with Gtfantasy for music/movies/games with HD audio the sound is noticeably better than watching normal TV, Spotify feature is a huge plus, wireless sub is great for a clean setup, no regrets at all even though i paid $383 for it

  • How many times can you use the Punch voucher on Ebay?

For anyone who stumbles across this thread in the future looking for reviews on the HT-CT800 - I'm pretty happy with it. Definite noticeable improvement over the speakers on my Hisense 4K TV. Love how the sub woofer is wireless. Plenty loud enough for a 5m x 5m space.
Only a few small gripes after spending a few hours testing out the various features.
    1. Bluetooth range is pretty poor. A wall between the soundbar and my phone is enough to cause it to start cutting in and out. Compared to my UE Boom speakers which is still rock solid through 2 or 3 walls of interference.
    2. 'Enhanced' mode (4K @ 60hz) for the HDMI inputs are not on by default. You've gotta dig through the menus to enable it.
    3. This one is not the fault of the soundbar, but something I didn't know. To use Spotify connect, you need a Spotify Premium Account :(

    • +1

Cheers mate, was doing just that, looking for reviews.

Thanks mate.. Was not aware of enhanced format.. Done that and could feel the diff…
