I am still using the tab s2 from 2 years ago, works great

    • Any issues with slowdown? I'm thinking of getting one, just not sure if 3gb ram is enough for multitasking and whatnot.

Mines 2gb version, no issues with browsing or YouTube. Haven't tried latest games though

3GB RAM works great. On average, I have about 1-1.2GB RAM free on mine when I close up all the apps. It is more than enough to open Firefox / Chrome with tons of tabs and having some other apps going on in the background as well.
Only time when the 3GB is not enough is for those devices that use S-Pen since the S-Pen Libraries take up more than half a gig of memory (My Note 4 Edge was also low in RAM even though it had 3GB and was constantly closing my apps in the background without informing me).

    • This is a slightly updated one though - using the Mid-Range Snapdragon 652 instead of the Exynos in the first iteration.
Supposedly 25% faster in benchmarks but think the real life usage is only about 10-15% if that.

    It's a TARGETED deal.

I collected my galaxy tab S2 yesterday. Couldn't decide between this one and the Lenovo tab 4 10 plus for $100 less.

Bigger screen, bigger battery, newer device and USB-C but only 16 gb and running slower snapdragon 625.
Ended up getting the Samsung just for the 2 year warranty and bigger internal memory.
Unless you absolutely hate Apple (I do), the Ipad 9.7 (2017) from officework is probably a better option at lower price.

Yes I agree the iPad 2017 is better value, but I much prefer the android ecosystem. Where did u buy the S2 if u don't mind me asking?

      • I got it from The Good Guys for $488 with 10% store credit from boxing day promo and $12 cashreward.

        • Nice deal!

        • @touchmylemon: indeed! Yet i wasn't so excited to spend that much on a middle range 2 year old tablet.
Shame the market of android tablet is so little, there are litterally no competitors out there.

  • I'm still using my S2 from 2 years ago. It's still very good.

  • Got mine not long ago…seem's a little slow but runs fine.

Waiting for this KB (Cabled) and Cover (Bear-Dont touch my pad):

    This looks ok also (Bluetooth):

  • So Im not mad thinking S2 is old now? But this is a revised S2? I bought an S2 at least 3 years ago, Im sure of it… IIRC, got it through Crazy Johns, its that long ago. Its slow as now. Wife refuses to use it she says it locks up a lot.

Pretty sure one of these popped up cheap with 4g too recently…

A factory reset will fix the slow issues. But yes, this is the 2nd edition model that is 64bit and uses an updated CPU that is around 15% faster in every day use. I'm still using my 1st edition model and working quite well.
Prefer it over the Tab S3 however since the Tab S3 is stupidly expensive for not much gain.

      • cheers, I shall give the reset a go…

  • Bought Tab S2 just over 1 year ago with 4G but 8.0" (thanks to Ozb) for $389 shipped. Its still awesome. Screen resolution, battery, responsiveness all awesome. Would never go back to cheapie. Want another one but can't bring myself to pay more for old even if the screen is bigger.
