Xiaomi Smart Door and Windows Sensor $4.99 USD ($6.35 AUD) @ Gearbest

640
AUCodifySD15

I was hanging out for a good deal on these doohickeys because I have a couple and they are fantastic. I'm mobility limited and have support workers in my house and it offers a lot of peace of mind knowing if doors have been left open etc. Also my kids can't fool me (yet) like they used to about going to their room! Enjoy

  • Thank you!

  • This will be my 3rd one.

    • Same,

    • What do you do with these ?
Genuine question - I got my smart home recently and the one I got with it is just lying around. If I am not home and someone opens my door, all it can do is play an alarm - the thief can bloody well unplug the gateway and prolly steal it too.

I have one on my garage door. If it's open for a specific period of time I get sent an email.

        • Thanks for repying. Do you use the mi home app out of the box for this ?

        • +1

          @AussieB:

I have it setup through Domoticz. Not sure if the native app can do it.
I also have a motion sensor setup in the garage connected to the Xiaomi gateway and Domoticz so that if it's between sunset and sunrise and motion is detected the light in the garage turns on then turns off when motion is no longer detected.

if you are using the door sensor as a door alarm then you can also send a push notification to your phone so you can take action - call police etc. The alarm sound would act more as a deterrent. For me I think the motion sensors are better suited for alarm purposes, a IP security camera might also help.

For me I'm currently installed the one from the kit as a door sensor on the bathroom door to turn on the lights when the door is closed at certain hours. you could put it on any doors cupboards, drawers or boxes (internally) with push notification as a type of tamper seal. put it on your mailbox to be notified when you have mail.

  • Thanks. Purchased one of these.

  • Thanks. It's 5 plus postage right?

    • +1

you can choose free postage if you like

      • Free postage never works for nz :( the cheap option charges 1.50usd. Gearbest needs to fix this!

Just thinking I need one more of this, then I saw this post! Thanks, grab one. It is my fifth one! For anyone may concern, the manual says they can't be install on metal. Actually, I have one pair installed on my metal garage door, works well!

  • Thanks Op.

  • The Code you entered has expired.

  • Do you need gateway for it to work?

    • Yes.

      • Is it possible to setup the gateway so it operates locally within you home network? Not really keen of the idea of sending data back to Xiaomi.

        • Yes. You can disconnect internet and local automations still work.

Eg. Open door -> turn on light.

Why would China care your bathroom window is open?

        • +2

@Ryanek: When China invades they need to know how to get into your house…

        • @kiwijunglist: Cool, another question, do you need to login with you Xiaomi account?

        • +1
        • @Aussie88: i had to setup gateway which required me to have an account in the mi home app.

  • Expired :(

  • Dang, just bought one yesterday for $8

    • Images all the useless crap you could have purchased with that dollar fifty!

      • US$8 so really US$3 or AU$4

  • I just bought one in ozbargain style without knowing how it will work!!

Now the question is do I need to buy xioami gateway to use this?

  • Says expired :(

  • expired

  • Dunno what's the point when these deals sell out so fast.

    • +8

The bright side is you spend less, I've saved heaps missing out on deals.

  • Got one but I don't even have a gateway thing

    • I was the same when buying the body sensor then bought a gateway.

  • These sell out so quickly. Im glad i stocked up in the early days, but its always nice to have a few spare

  • Can somebody get a code for the temp and motion sensors please, and preferably not limited to one? Thanks :-)

  • They do sell out very quickly. I asked the rep myself because I only once caught the code in time and was having to check so often. I think that is part of the appeal from their point of view. It has you thinking more about the place that offers the reward.

  • Could we please have a massive discount on these?
It is time for Australia to move on to the next level.

    • I doubt the rep is still reading this thread. I got the notification. Possibly contact the rep yourself?
