Apple iPhone X 256GB Silver / Space Grey $1703.99 Aus Stock + 12 Mth Apple WTY @ Techrific (Price Match Officeworks for 5% off)

1183

Cheapest deal found on staticice.

Apple iPhone X 256GB Silver - $1649 $1674 + $29.99 postage
Apple iPhone X 256GB Space Grey - $1664 $1674 + $29.99 postage

I price matched at Office Works and got further 5% off for the Space Grey. They take into account the postage cost of $29.99 from Techrific which ends up being $1609.25 after the 5% off. Good for those travelling overseas (which I am!) to get a further 10% off on Tax Refund. Total for me will come to $1462.95 after TRS. Pretty good deal for the X IMO.

      • plus Techrific doesn't have a 'brick & mortar' store which is a condition in David Jones price match policy I was told

        • Yes good point. I was actually afraid Office Works requires a physical store but the person I spoke to must have missed it when I told him 'Aus Stock'. Local Myer and DJ will not match stores outside the city or state. They are located in VIC so maybe I am real lucky?

        • @myghetto: It seems it does fall under OW policy thats why you didn't have any issues. Enjoy your new toy.

    • I thought DJ already stopped selling iphones long time

      • +1

they have started selling them again.

        • Thanks.

  • Apple has been ripped off customers by slowing the iphones, not a fan anymore

    • I was going to go to android but I cannot transfer my chats from iOS to android for WhatsApp.

      • Should be able to with Google drive backup. iPhone doesn't have a Google drive backup option? Have you Googled this?

        • No google drive back up option in WhatsApp for iOS only iCloud.

Googled for awhile and no way of doing it.

    • +1

Should be feasible. did it a while ago.

    • +1

Only if you had a very old battery.

Change it for a new one, and your phone will speed up again. If it was ever affected. And the replacement is cheap too.

At least they make an effort to keep our old phones reliable. When they notice a problem in the field a year or three after the phone was made, they fix it even though they risk a PR disaster.

Many other firms can barely manage timely updates, let alone half-decent support after 12 months- and just allow their phones to fail.

    • +1

Firstly I hate that they had been slowing down phones… and I knew they were just from experience.

But if you read what they did it actually makes sense… they slow down the device to improve battery life. That makes a lot of scene from an IT Standard. They should have just been honest with it or included a switch in the Systems to enable that 'feature' or not.

  • 12 months warranty with such a hefty price tag?! Wow people are real sheep.

    • Not a fan of a price tag either. But realistically you can't expect a longer warranty period just because you pay more.

A $500 TV and a $5000 TV from the same brand would have had the same warranty period.

      • +3

Wrong . When i purchased expensive tv from jbfihi i was told I will be getting 3 years as let ACL. they have me a template which had price chart and warranty against it. Will try to find the link. As i didn't purchase the extra warranty

  • Poor Officeworks, if they accept the price match, my guess is they be selling it at loss…

    • +3

LOL, yes, they return very poor profits to all their poor shareholders with their poor choice of poverty-laden policies

    • i dont t think they keep enough of these to go broke price matching ……

  • -3

surprised people still buy apples, especially at this price..

    • +1

i’m surprised people pay $8 for a carona at a bar when they can buy a slab for $45 and drink at home for $2 per bottle……

same with coffee, $1 at 7/11 vs $4.50 at a cafe …. it’s just coffee.

      • 7/11 is my go-to. Coffee is just coffee right?

        • Not at all, but you can still get a good coffee quite cheap.

  • +1

Has anyone actually tried to price match at Office Works? Just curious. Lots of haters but would be nice to hear if others were successful :)

    • +3

Yep mine came to $1,566 including delivery for the silver

      • So did you call up and price match then purchase online?

        • +1

Called up, beat the price and ordered over the phone.
Had a confirmation email half an hour later.

        • @Ratzos: How'd you Pay? Credit Card?

        • @superezra:
          Correct, Visa over the phone

        • @Ratzos: Okay I'll try tomorrow :)

        • @Ratzos: Nice!

    • me and my colleague both did in-store in Sydney CBD - all done..

  • yeah…. nah… wouldn't but from this mob (TCF Global Ltd)….. they also operate under catchdeal and other names

If you are willing to pay $1700 for a mobile phone, are you even a real OzBargainer?

    • +8

Correct me if I am wrong, Ozbargainers’ spirit is to find a good bargain, so that translates to finding the same product for less money elsewhere. It doesn’t necessarily mean that all bargains have to be for cheap items. Value perception is different for all of us, so taking into account the RRP for an item, if one can buy for cheaper elsewhere then it’s a bargain. Whether it’s a good bargain or not is fairly accurately told by the amount of upvotes for that particular deal.

      • +2

        It was a joke…

  • This is grey import. Officework will reject price match straight away. If anyone managed to price match, then they were lucky.

  • +1

It takes a special kind of fool to fork out $1679 or $1694 for this phone. Apparently there are tens of millions of special fools. Bless.

    • +1

It simply works - Apple. People pay for that price tag not because it is Apple only but everything from Apple: services, warranty, etc. Same as why people drive Merc and BMW etc instead of other ordinary cars, when you can afford and can enjoy, that’s what matters :)

      • +1

Believing the sales pitch is all that matters. Some do, some don't. Some fall so far down the rabbit hole that they start offering new inane slogans in support of their chosen multinational corporate delusion. "It simply works - Apple."

        • +2

dont know about others but to me I can just use the phone straightaway with iPhone with only a few steps in setups, with Android it takes me time and time with their unnecessary settings. I love experiencing flagship phones, like a habit, so far with Android I love Pixel XL and Samsung Note 8, with Apple I like FaceID, so effortlessly efficient

    • +7

Everyone always whines about Apple X prices but rrp $1549 for Pixel 2 XL 128gb is somehow well priced??

      • Pixel 2 XL is the worst flagship.in2017 with sh1t screen and price tag

      • +2

That's because Apple gets graded on a different curve. Case in point, when Apple dropped the 3.5mm headphone jack it was a big hoo-haa. Google made the point to emphasise that they retained the headphone jack in the original Pixel but when they then dropped it in the Pixel 2, there was no fuss.

  • +1

lol good luck with your X

  • If you go overseas, it will be a great price, if not, no deal

  • +4

Note to all sellers online, especially on eBay. We know what you mean when you say AUS Stock. The phone is in stock in Australia, but not including Australian based warranty. Usually this 12 month warranty is a scheme to confuse buyers when purchasing. Take note when it says "12 month warranty" as usually it isn't an Australian product.

  • Anyone else able to price match?

A few family members wanted this so I ordered 3 and OW is saying their payment system needs to verify the payment and it could take up to 48 hours.

Still haven’t received a order confirmation or anything.

    • UPDATE: went into a store yesterday morning and got 4 for the family members and cancelled my 3 i did over the phone.

  • This is the same shonky company behind the eBay account oz_deal. They sold me a 'new' iPhone 6 which I had bought for my mum and it turned out to be anything but new. It was a refurbished phone and cause no end of stress and hassle for me and my mum. It is quite likely they are playing on words and this in fact isn't official Australian Stock, just like my iPhone 6 wasn't a new one. Just an refurbished phone in a new box. So dodgy…. Similar experience noted here

    https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/2607544

  • lol… this deal got posted to OzB facebook page when the items don't even exist anymore and the store owner was outed for a long history of bad behaviour

  • Just purchased over the phone with Officeworks, price was $1610 after price match and delivery mumbo jumbo taken into account.

Will line up for TRS at the overseas passenger terminal at the start of march when I go on my cruise.

    Everything's coming up Millhouse!!!

    • I just called officework but they said few people call up to price match from this website and they refuse it straight away

      • that's disappointing… should have done earlier ! I will call them now and post back if any success.

      • Just managed to order now. Price matched successfully. Comes to $1561.80 collect from Officeworks nearby Tomorrow.

Edit: looks like they made a mistake and calculated it from $1644 rather than $1664 (current price on techrific.com.au)

        • +1

and device is now in my possession, TY VM Officeworks, and TY so much more to OP myghetto!!!

        • how did you do it? what is the tip and phone number to call? i called them twice but not successful

        • +1

@andyt91: I just called the number listed on the Price Beast Guarantee page (where I quoted what I expected from them): https://www.officeworks.com.au/information/policies/price-be…

There was one point where i thought they might not go through, where she was trying to find the Apple Part number on their website to confirm it was the exact same device (which she couldn't find), but it ended up going through anyway.

Price matched at Officeworks this morning. No probs

  • +2

Those considering one, get in quickly because staff are being told to refuse price match. I was refused at Southport QLD OW yesterday, but managed to get it matched this morning at Brisbane CBD, it depends who you get and how chill they are with regards to price beating.

  • Ridiculous price for a phone…

  • +3

I had a win at OW today, but only just. Here is the chronology:

    1. Read OZBargainer post about 10am today.
    2. Printed Techrific advert for 256GB silver iPhone X for $1649 where it said it had 12months Apple warranty (more later!!)
    3. Went to OW at 4pm with printout to show for a price match plus 5%!
    4. Showed advert with price to first sales staff-he tried to look up advert price to verify.
    5. He fiddled with his iPhone for a while but didn’t seem able to do it so he referred me to sales assistant #2!
    6. Assistant #2 looked up and found Techlife advert but for some reason the Techlife advert now gave a price of $1664 with a 24 months warranty! He started to argue that it was then a different “product” and hence could not price match. I said only difference was that Techlike was offering 24 months warranty compared to just 12 months from OW. I said that I was happy with OW 12 months warranty. Note that my printout said 12 months. Tech life must have changed this in the previous few hours!!
    7. Assistant#2 tried to argue that it was not a valid price match and he referred me back to assistant #1.
    8. Back to first assistant who also wanted to deny comparison because warranty periods were different. I again said that I was happy with just 12 months warranty from OW. He said only manager could approve. I said ok let’s do it.
    9. I then went to manager and she did it with virtually no delay at all. She also forgot to add postage, so in the end I got it for $1566.!! Yay!!

I am also doing a short trip OS in 57 days, so should get extra GST back.

I consider myself lucky today that it came off like this in the end.

    • Congratulations on your new phone.

    • They are trying to find all excuses not to price match. Using the warranty as the reason is poor form.

The deal is still on and I just got space grey model.. Called up and paid over the phone. Expecting to pick-up the phone tomorrow.

    https://www.techrific.com.au/brand-new-apple-iphone-x-256gb-…

    • +3

nice sockpuppeting - they don't do pickup

      • Nice detective work there :)

  • Sorry about my post, meant to say Officeworks beat the price from Techrific and I got the phone for $1609.25 . The phone is ready to be picked-up from Office Works, so will be picking it up tomorrow.

    • You phoned them to beat the price?

      • Yes, no need to do this instore, just call OW number.. They will check the price and beat it. Then you have the option to pay in store or over the phone. Then they send an invoice and notification once the phone is ready for pick-up from any OW store that's close for you.

  • Does anyone think OW would price beat iphone 8 from Techrif as well?

    • should be fine

  • Approved and paid for over the phone with OW customer service. Picking up in store today. 256gb space grey for $1609.

  • Not sure why this deal is marked as expired when it's still available.

    • It pulls an error:

The page you requested cannot be found!

      Do you not get that?

Nevermind, just realised they were relisted under new links, have updated it.

  • Thanks OP.

Ordered 2 iPhone X 256GB for a total of $3190.10 from OW after price beating.

    $1595.05 per phone.

    • Just make sure you don't try selling them to Nirav Patel, it'll end badly for you.

Indians like him taint the rest of us with a really bad brush.

That Nirav fellow is one paagal.

      • Thanks for the warning mere bhai. Bought them for the wife and I.

        • Theek hai bhai. Enjoy the new phones!

  • Merged from iPhone X 256GB $1674 (Silver, Space Gray) Unlocked AUS STOCK /W 24 Month Warranty @ Techrific.com.au

Looks like this store dropped their prices on the iPhone X probably in response to the eBay sales.

I linked the Space Grey but the Silver is also in stock.

First post, hope this deal is decent.

Cue 'I can't believe a phone costs that much' related comments in 3, 2, 1…

      • +2

Nah its too cheap. They obviously under pay their workers & exploited oh and something about exploiting Africans and the world really.is flat amd Apple are involved in the fake moon landing (I think Neil Amrstrong was wearing an Apple watxh in the video) :-P

    • -2

Cue I'm happy to pay this much for a phone cause dumb.

    • +1

looks cheap compared to my $3000 watch, and all it does is tell the time.

but then the watch has a life span of greater than 4 years.

      • But after the latest update, to enhance the user experience the watch runs slower to extend battery life.

        • to extend battery life

Haha I must hand it to Apple, they really know how to BS. They can even fool people into buying these expensive devices when they even know all these problems!

    • Shipping $29.95.
