Sharwoods Sides $1 (Save $1.79) @ Woolworths

480

Lowest price ever I think for this pretty decent ready made curry from Sharwood’s

There are three types, I like the Chickpea Sabji the best.

Down from $2.79 to $1.

I just heat the package in a microwave for just over a minute and pour it over a big bowl of rice for a nice easy curry meal.

I got them last time on sale and they taste horrible. Edible but horrible. Tasty bites range is pretty good but they don't sell chickpeas in Australia even though list it on their website 😡

Thanks I will check out the Tasty Bite range for sure I like a nice curry with rice.

I have to disagree though about the Sharwoods, I like them and they are frequently on special.

    • Tasty Bite definitely used to sell chickpea curry but I'm not sure if they do anymore - I stopped buying when I found a good sized hair in a pack a couple of years ago.

  • I'll look out for this.

  • So are these bad or good …. ??

high fiber and taste ok , but not pleasant looking (like diarrhea)

As my Dad would say, "have you eaten that yet?"

      • Bought 6.

when you pour it out in a bowl, it's like diarrhea oozing down ..

Do you have a mirror in your bowl?

      • no the toilet bowl is made of mirror glass… :D

The package is also interesting, when you pour it out when hot almost all of it comes out. It must have some sort of non stick coating.

Regarding ready to eat curries, there are not many available, all I know about is this one and now the Tasty Bities.

    • One of the only things stopping me indulging more in these delish legumes is the fear that the slick coating is chockful of BPA. (I wish they came in glassjar varieties).

cheap. useful for an indian guy who doesn't cook. bought some 'indian curries from aldi. cheap. in bottles. but the taste is sourrrrrrr. unIndian.

    • In bottles, you say?… sold!

      • reasonably sour taste for non indian palates. too sour for my taste. very cheap at aldi though and a variety of flaours. these are pastes and mixes which you can use on most recipes for an instant 'curry' but I will not certify their indianness as far as real taste goes. I think they suit ozzie palates. in sydney I went to an indian restaurant which did a cheap buffet but everything tasted like everything else! sour. They told me they got their sauces in bulk from someone like sharwoods! edible. tasty. but strangely unIndian.

        • These are a bit on the “sour” side I suppose but I like them, low fat high fibre.

I looked at the Tasty Bite ones today, they all have cream added, probably nice but I am after a nice non dairy curry.

        • @SamR:
hard for lactose intolerants to eat dairy, I know. you may need to cook!

  • the ready made packet meal curries from coles & costco are pretty good. i was surprised how good the butter chicken from costco was.

    • What is the Coles one?

its usually near the freezer section along with the packaged hams and fish. they usually do a few curries, and a few times a week do half price which is even better. the one near me always gets cleared out by people buying them for lunch.

  • the indian shops actually carry better Indian versions which real Indians from India actually recognise as Indian taste.

doesnt matter what any "real" people think, all that matters is that the consumer enjoys what they are purchasing, whether it be authentic or not.

  • Found 3. Best before March 2018.
Chances are they are deleting these lines.

    • Yes I think so but hope not.

They have sold them for about 6-8 months and that expiry date has been the same for all their stock.
A shame as there are not many ready made long life curries available, I may have to cook !
