  • When will 2018 version comes out?

    • +73

      2018

      • +1

Haha I think lklk901 means the exact date, not just the year.

        • +5

          thanks captain

        • +2

@jayzorz: You're welcome. Hope you have learnt something today ;p

      • Lol, thanks for it

    • It’s not like I have 2018 vision 👈😎👉

    • 2017 version has come out for 295 days, and average release interval is 367 days.

So 2018 version will be released around 70 days later, which is March 2018.

You can check out this link https://buyersguide.macrumors.com/#iPad

      • Thanks mate, yeah, March sounds line a very possible month for 2018 release

  • Lol…apple…ahahahaha

  • +1

It is remarkable how cheap these are getting.

    • +1

      Relatively speaking of course.

People are more tech savvy and aren't buying this version, knowing its a purposely worse version so people will buy Pro

      • +9

Er, I'm "tech savvy" and wanted a replacement for my aging iPad2, so this "purposely worse version" is more than fine for what I use an iPad for - content and reading. I think Apple knew there were many people needing to upgrade their ancient iPads who did not need a "Pro" iPad.

        • Do you think they slow the ipads down after battery degradation, just like th eolder iphones?

        • +1

I'm also happy to use this "purposely worse version" for the intended purpose of content and reading. I use my laptop for "Pro" work.:)

      • Well there's nothing pro about the 'pro'. No added connectivity or ports, no major leap in performance, no full desktop operating system. The surface pro line is much more pro than that will ever hope to be, as no true professional would use an iPad pro if they can't connect it to anything or have flexibility.

        • Would adding serial ports or PS/2 ports make the Ipad Pro justify the 'pro' designation?

        • @gummibear: no, not at all. I do however that adding core OS integration of some peripherals like external drives or back n the files app, access to local servers rather than cloud servers only might be helpful.

But yes, iPad pros are pretty good, more capable than these. This is a pretty good price for a basic iPad.

    • I've owned four iPads. About $1000 each, except the first one which was the base model. Price of being an early adopter and for wanting lots of storage space.

    need moar 128gb deals

    • 128GB is $550.05 Delivered which seems okayish? $8 less than last deal but nowhere near the $479 Myer deal

      • +1

yeah i mean needs more of that myer type deals :D especially if you going overseas in 2 months

        • I got two 128Gb for $419 each delivered using eBay Myer 20% code, cash rewards and trs a few months ago

        • @Prince K: I'm v jealous.

  • Urgh. Just price matched at HN last week for this. :( $397.

  • yeah I want to pick one up but am waiting for a better deal/hopefully a back to school special or something…

  • -1

Great price. Any bargain with ipod touch…? Thanks.

  • so these will become slow after 2 years due to battery ageing ?

    • +1

Think it will be as long as 2 years?

  • Is this a good price? Will there be cheaper in the near future?

  • -4

    Anyone use iPad in 2018?

    • what do you suggest as an alternative?

    • Uh, yes. It's great as a content and reading device.
      Silly question…

    • +1

Personally I prefer to use my Computer.

      • +5

My wife prefers I don't take my computer, monitor, keyboard, and mouse into bed with me…

      • +2

To get "work" done sure, I like using both though.

I am starting to use my iPad more and more. I now do all my web browsing on my iPad. I watch many movies and TV shows on my iPad too. I watch YouTube exclusively on my iPad.

        The iPad rocks.

I go the 128gb last month and so did a colleague. Happy with it but the google maps app doesn't work properly. Updated to latest IOS/app version etc etc. It can find the address but when you set it to give you directs and you drive your car it doesn't move. Tried all the tips online to fix it and no good. My IPhone 5S is fine though and works.

Anyone else have this issue on their new Ipad 2017's? Same issue on the map app from apple.

    • +6

The wifi version of iPad doesn’t have GPS so you’ll only get location from known wifi network triangulation. Thus when you take it in a car it won’t ever update its location.

The Wifi+Cellular version has GPS which allows you to get location on the go.

    • +1

Is this a serious question? You're asking why a wifi only iPad doesn't update Google Maps as you move in a car, presumably while not connected to wifi?

  • Anyone know if tne invoice would include GST for TRS claim?

    • +2

Yes, Australian stock from Australian retailer.

      • Thanks for the confirmation, mate.

  • +2

Is it just me or does it feel like there’s this gradual creep in Apple prices? I.E; $1187 for a 12.9 iPad Pro; suffice to say I’d like to get one but it’s never going to feasibly be less than, what, maybe at absolute best 20% less to buy new so around at least $900? Seems hard to justify that for anyone.

At least with this, although yeah it’s smaller it’s not that much smaller and it’s what nearly a third of the price? Am I missing something?

Honestly I’m really not trying to be a dick, I like Apple gear always have, I’m just wondering who these much more expensive gear is actually meant to be appealing to? Do you know what I mean? Like if an iPad Pro isn’t quite a laptop and if it’s really just more of a glorified iPad why would you buy it for 3 times the price (as an example) versus this which is so much cheaper and probably does 95% of what that more expensive slightly bigger model does?

Sorry, OT I guess, just seems like Apple had a clear idea of iPad pricing whereas now it’s just gone bonkers.

    • +1

I think some people like to have the more expensive option as a showpiece - whether they need it or not. However, I'm sure many iPad Pro users DO use it to its potential.

To me, it would have been 'nice' to have the extra features, but I just could not justify such a huge jump in price. As I said above - for what I use it for - I'm very pleased with my 2017 iPad.

  • Officeworks excludes quite a few areas from delivery. Has anyone worked out how to use the click and collect option when your ebay address is outside their delivery area? I choose click and collect but still can't place the order.

    • +2

Just ordered one with click and collect option by keying in the postal code. However, my ebay address is within the delivery area. I thought that you would be allowed to select the pick up location by keying in the postal code regardless of your ebay address. If ebay address is really giving the issue, I would try changing the address as it does not matter since you are going for click and collect. Have a go and hope it works for you.

      • Thanks for the suggestion - changing the primary delivery address on my ebay account to one within Officeworks' delivery zone allowed me to proceed with the click and collect order for my local store. I've sent ebay some feedback…

        • Great that it works out for you.

  • Thanks bought one. Travelling overseas on Monday, so comes to $342.86 with GST removed.

    • +2

      397*0.95-(397-397/1.1)=$341.06

*invoice will state full price ($397).

      • +1

        Yes that's what happened!

  • Anyone found a good cover/case to recommend please?

  • Better off purchasing to iPad Optus deal for 100GB data, 128GB 4G iPad for $52 a month. Pay off the iPad early and now you have 100GB a month for $20 haha

  • Where's the cheapest iPad Pro 10.5 around??

  • Any deals on 4g model? Can’t seem to find a decent price anywhere.

  • No price match at JB as expected.

  • Hi is this code still valid on iPad purchase ? Thanks

    • +1

      Yep code is still going.

      • I still received a message that code is not working

        • Added to cart to test now:

          Item (1) AU $397.00
          Postage Free
          Vouchers -AU $19.85
          Order total AU $377.15

The PICK5 code can only be used 3 times, also it requires Australian registered Paypal and eBay account to be used. Could any of those things be the issue?

If not I think there is an eBay live chat, let them know the issue and see if they can find the issue.

        • @hamza23: thank you I may check my setting again.

  • This is a great deal, however the Officeworks Ebay store looks like it is out of stock for all three colours. The web page tells me to choose a quantity of 0 or less!

Does anyone else get this? Are Officeworks likely to add more stock tomorrow?

    • Yep looks like out of stock now, it's possible they'll re-add stock but can't say for sure.

    • Works for me when I use the eBay app!

      • This item is out of stock.

On desktop + mobile app :(

  • Note: Good guys has this model for $395 https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/computers-tablets-and-gaming/…

Might be worth an Office works pricematch ie less 5%

  • Back again.

  • The gold one is out of stock. Is officework gng to add more stock ? Thanks

  • I'm trying to decide between this and a Huawei MediaPad M3. Would the Huawei be better for gaming?

  • +1

any deal for 9.7 inch ipad with 128gb?

    • There never seems to be many deals on the 128GB. At this price the 32GB is tempting and probably enough capacity for my needs.

    • I bought one last week from JB Hifi which price match with Officeworks for $578 through it is not in good price.

      • last year myer ebay $480 on ipad 128GB

        • I bought an Ipad 5. To be honest, I got confused what is the different. I only know the one I got was Ipad 9.7" (5th generation 2017).

        • @angelbaby:

          no much different
          only little change on screen
