you can prevent the dust buildup problem by getting some plugs for the earphone jack at the top and maybe even one for the bottom. If you keep your phone in dusty linty pockets a lot of the time, unless its water proof you will get the dust problem. Even iPhones cameras have this issue at times.

          http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Silicone-Anti-Dust-Plug-Port-Prot…

The dots thingy sounds more like a factory defect of camera sensor and would get warranty cover easily.

Even with G5s Plus if you read the forums there are many issues such as with camera function/Wifi random disconnect/lag/random reboot, some units even have overheating issue(potentially dangerous especially if phone in your pants)

There's gonna be lemons no matter what phone you get. I would say the dust issue is preventable if you get the plugs or waterproof casing so not that much of an issue.

        • @KangaBanga: Do you have a link to non-exorbitantly priced plugs that fit the Axon 7 though? As you linked to iphone ones…

        • @KangaBanga:

Probably correct in what you say, I was going off rumours anyway and nothing concrete.

Of course there are faulty lemons in every model, you just don't want the problem being widespread.

@FowlParliament: Axon 7 earphone hole is just a standard non-specific one fits any headphone/earphone jack/plug. You can just google or search on ebay for one you like. Or if you are a true ozbargainer, cut one off an old broken headphone or earphone and use hat as a recycled plug :D

Here you go, 10 fruity ones for a dollar plus. keep a couple and give away the rest.

Axon 7 supports daydream, G5S does not.

  • Still available Fairy Meadow NSW.

    • Any idea how many they had ? I'm over an hour drive away, would love to get one though.

        Give them a call

      • +1

Give them a call & ask them to put one on hold for you

    • Fairy Meadow now out of stock, but Mittagong may have some left.

  • Have checked at every store near me in NSW within 30km and no luck and the gold one isn't even available off their website anymore :(

  • Can anyone recommend a decent case, the best I've seen so far seem to just be Dbrand skins, hardly any just plain rubber cases anywhere on the internet.

    • Characteristics of 'a decent case'? Bought a Poetic Revolution case for wife as she is a phone destroyer! I literally just caught her phone just now as she placed it haphazardly on some folded clothes that caused the phone to slide… It was heading for floorboards!

      For more information, see here.

      • This looks cool.. it says it has inbuilt screen guard.. does that mean no need to apply screen protector?

    • The one I'm gonna buy from eBay is this matte hard case for around $2.70 in a rose gold colour. Took a while to find a decent case since this phone is nowhere near as popular as iPhone lol

      • Link?

What's wrong with the supplied one?

Just be wary, great price ( Bought mine back when it was still round the $499 price point ) I'm already on my 2nd one under warranty in 6 months… And just about to send the replacement back 3 weeks after I got it. Great features, quality not so good!

What has happened with both of yours?

      • +4

Camera failed, started making a grinding sound and the photos were coming out all wavy and now like the comment below half the screen disappears…

        • geez…

        • Yes it constantly happens, it happens when you auto focus too close. You can learn to avoid the situation that causes it. You can instead use the front camera if needed.

  • Bought my Saturday morning and return Sunday morning. Screen issues, only half of it comes on.

    • +1

claim VIP ACP repair lol. but then you'd have to send it to ZTE yourself. or maybe OW would do it?

  • I've tried half of Vic this morning and nothing

    • +1

PM me, I can get you one

      • -1

lol did you buy more than one with the price match

        • -1

          I reckon $99 profit 😜

        • +4

@CVonC: nope, I bought two from different stores, One store did the price Match, but the manager @ other store refused to do it.

I have been considering a return of the one, I paid $299 for & get my money back, but saw these comments & thought Id save for someone who might use it.

Did anyone else get Rose Gold earphones with the Grey Phone? Noice!

    • yep same here but not a fan of the color….not that i will ever use it anyway so that's alright…

  • I was having trouble connecting to WiFi, would not see the 5G SSID.

Turned out to be a Router Channel compatibility issue. 5G channels in the higher range seem to work OK.

  • Does anyone have one of these to sell?
    I can't find in VIC

  • +1

Just bought one from Officeworks North lakes. Ring for stock

  • DOES anybody want one? I’m picking one up shortly, I’ve called ahead, 2 in stock. WA. Could grab both if anybody interested.

    • Thanks poitrek! I'll PM you.

eh, you're account doesn't accept messages. In any case, I'll take the phone. Maybe PM me. Thanks a lot.

    • Whereabouts are you picking up from? Joondalup?

    • Probably too late now, but if anyone knows of stock in Perth, can they PM the details. Thanks.

  • So this phone has no app draw? Or do I need to enable it?

    • After the 7.1 update, you can enable the app drawer

      • I have updated to 7.1 , how do I enable it?

      • Thanks had to change launcher put app draw is back

  • Had to return mine due to a fault, I have a Spigen Rugged Armour case which I'll happily mail to anyone for the cost of shipping. Alternatively I live in Brisbane so if anyone is willing to grab it off me in the city or something I'd prefer that.

  • Digging an old thread up but I just checked Officeworks Joondalup - only Gold left. And the manager got narky with me for showing her the receipt oneiricer posted up saying that it was a repaired item.

  • there is one available at Northmead NSW

  • How bright is the screen on the Axon 7? Compared to the HTC Ultra or Huawei Nova 2i, for example?

    • +2

Just tried my luck and got the last one at a store near me.
I don't have the U Ultra, but I have the U11. Compared them side by side, seems like the Axon 7 is a little brighter. Maybe because the type of the panels were used.

  • I'm looking forward to grabbing this one from ebay-officeworks. After used voucher "AWESOME" on eBay, the price comes down to $319.50. Lemme know your thoughts on this deal and feedback on your phone.

    • +1

Around $300 I think it's a good phone. Great speaker. Decent camera. Good build, feel really nice when holding it as I prefer the metal back to those that have back glass.

      • Cool. I just ordered one from eBay for $320.. Lemme see how it goes..

  • I ordered one from Officeworks for collection, also going to claim TRS. For $270 all in, a steal of a phone, no reason to buy Xiaomi as Axon7 will get Oreo this generation. USBC, fast Charge, 2k screen for Daydream. All these things Redmi doesnt have it at all.

  • weird.. i can buy online for door-to-door delivery.

    • Yes you can, I don't like delivery to door as I'm not home. This phone is a beast for $300. You should see what they can do with the AKM4490 dac built in…some roms even have AptX enabled.

      • Ah.. I always get them delivered to my office.

Anyway I bought this phone when it was $355, but returned it as my partner didn't like the brand.

So this time, I will be keeping it myself.

        • With an Oreo update, the phone should be good for at least another year. Myself, it is going to be a secondary phone for audio transport, gym use, daydream and general mucking around with roms. Redmi 5s are going for $200 imported, yes it has the 18:9 screen, but no fast charging, 2k, usbc, dac, nfc…..and its SD625.

        • @NotAnAudiophile:

yea.. i am looking to buy daydream vr myself..

          $25 brand new on gumtree..

almost got a galaxy s8, but it was sold out.

        • I believe there is no better bang for buck than this phone today. Beats SD625 phones by a mile, and even slightly faster than the 636 in phones that are only going to release this year. Even used Axon 7s are going for $300 on ebay.

  • my $299 grey is ready for collection!

  • I can't get the firmware update to work, anyone had any luck with this?

    • What's the issue you encounter?

      • It says you're already up to date but I'm on Marshmallow. I followed the instructions on the download page, selected my existing firmware downloaded and extracted the download file to the SD cards root directory. I don't need to extract the update.zip as well do I?

        • +1

Optional step - Rename the update.zip file to "AndroidNupdate.zip" or something of your choosing as you can then have multiple firmware versions on your microSD Card and update other family or friends AXON 7's to the latest Android firmware easily. Just remember that you can't have two files with the same name together and the update files must all be located in the root folder of the microSD Card.

Copy the "update" file to the root of a MicroSD card – You can do this with the MicroSD card in the handset and Media device MTP USB mode and your AXON 7 USB cable.

          Did you do the following?

        • @PissLUR: I didn't do the rename be but yes to everything else.

        • @AEKaBeer:

sorry cant help further.. best to contact them. http://www.ztemobiles.com.au/ZTE_support.htm

        • @PissLUR:
          All good thanks for trying.

  • Hmm now another issue, we're not able to add new contacts from google messages. Checked on my samsung and sony phones, the option is definitely there.
