Woolworths - Optus ZTE Blade D 4G $20 Was $79 (Low Stock, None in Qld, Some in NSW)

650

Howdy, this is a deleted line, so in run out. No stock in Qld, according to a rep on 17/01. Some stock in Nsw, but quite depleted as well. Product code is 442566, if you are looking to do a product check. Locked to Optus.

Same phone is available at Coles as a ZTE Chat in 3g and 4g versions for $29 and $39. Seems they have more stock than Woolies, locked to Coles prepaid/Optus.

Prepaid ZTE 4G Chat $39

Prepaid ZTE 3G Chat $29

Specs

5" LCD Screen
Snapdragon 210
Android 5.1
Storage 8GB
RAM 1GB
Battery 2200mAh (Removable)

If you can suggest a phone under $50, better than a Xperia E1, would appreciate that as well.

  • Absolutely awesome price.
Can seem to order it online though?

Kind of wierd… guess it's fussy about locations as it's a deleted line. Was told to go to my local and they might have a restock. Was told it's deleted, so no restock. Might have to ring in? Or try Coles, $30 for 3g, $40 for 4g.

    • Idiots!!! They put two aside for me and when I got there they said “sorry we don’t have any stock”. Liars.

  • +4

    cheaper than a toy phone

  • +2

Love the image on the website was $99 now $20 (With a 1/2 Price label shown)

    • 1/5 price doesn't sound right.

      • +2

It's normally 'better than half price'

        • Not in a small web-sticker :P

        • +1

@StoneSin: maybe "clearance" would work better :P

  • specs and review.

    Will this work for Amaysim?

    • Yes it would. Works with Optus and it's all resellers

    • You looked up a review for a $20 phone? You don't buy it thinking it'll exactly be a speed demon..

  • good price

  • Woohoo! I just picked up two lol.

    • +2

      what for?

      • +3

Could be used as a security camera or as a GPS/dash cam. Imagination is endless.

        • +1

It would be so laggie recording video for dash cam right?

        • +2

Likely used to play porn though rofl

        • @Slippery Fish: "Australia turned out to be one of the randiest nations per capita, coming in as the eighth-biggest porn consumer, despite having a relatively small population. We followed the US, UK, India, Japan, Canada, France and Germany." (News.com.au)

        • Security camera how? Is there a motion/ sound detecting etc app?

        • @chibot:

news.com.au didn't realise that "per capita" takes the population size out of the equation ?

        • +2

@effgee: "Ozbargain commenters turned out to be one of the the most pedantic forums per capita…" :D

        • Good ideas and works for a while before overheating from contineous running and/or left in a hot car causes damage swelling the battery. If you could find a way to avoid that issue by e.g. running only from USB power then that might be sustainable.

      • One for my Mum and another to play around with (haven’t used android in years).

        • +3

I can almost guarantee you that you won't like android given the phone's specs. That's like getting an iPhone 5 and having a play around with because I haven't used iOS in years.

  • Be careful when buying this phone. It might fit into Optus and Virgin, but doesn't work well with Telstra. The specs mentioned below:

    3G : UMTS 900, 2100 MHz with 42Mbps data (HSPA+)
    GSM: 900, 1800 MHz

All lacks of 850 MHz which Telstra requires.

If this flaw doesn't bother you, then go for it.

    • Optus uses 700mhz, so if this phone has it, then will work on telstra when unlocked.

didn't think optus or telstra use 850, thought that was Voda ?

      • +1

Telstra voice function sitting on 3G 850MHz. So if you use this phone (unlocked )with Telstra. It will work data only. You can't use it to make phone call at all.

        • Are these the phones with a hidden menu where you can select your bands (ie either 900 or 850?)

      Optus and Virgin

Wow * Facepalm * Optus and Virgin use the same network lol.

      How about Vodafone?

  • +2

How much does it cost to get the phone network unlocked? As I may need to take it overseas?

    • Official unlock is you need to recharge $80 before a free unlock

    • +2

I usually get unlock codes off ebay.

    • +3

I used bagmans website (search here on OZB) last week to unlock a ZTE phone.
$5, only took a couple of hours to receive an email reply with the unlock code.

I wonder how painful it is waiting for the phone to switch from one app to another and how lagging the response from the moment we touch the screen before it does what we want to such as click on camera or closing an app.

    • +2

very laggy. snapdragon 210 phones are the bane of existsnce, but for the price its rippe.r

      • +2

lol. SD200's are made for Smartwatches.. hahaha

        • This is more painful than having gastro

  • +4

None in punchbowl lakemba or bankstown

    • +1

Thanks for confirming. You have saved my time.

    • +2

My dealers gonna be rocking ZTE burner phones now.

  • Any chance of root? A quick google didn't show much.

    • +8

That question would get you a slapped face just a few years back…

      • I'll take the slapping and still ask. I'm looking through modaco and xda with no avail for this model.

        • +1

          Damn I'm slow. I get it now…!

        • +1

Oh yes! The nice way to ask was "may I" have a root
          Politeness always pays…

        • +2

@King Tightarse: I'll get it right next time. I'm so literal!

      • Was it the asking for sex bit or the googling but didn't show much bit?

        • I think I mentioned I was slowly getting it…

  • Title says Woolworths but link are for coles?

    • you need to re-read the post. pic (main link) is to WW. OP provides alternatives (more expensive) at Coles.

  • I have no idea what to do with one of these.

    I want 5.

    • As its a removable battery, buy 5 and keep swapping and charging batteries. Infinite battery power solution!
Now you just have to get the phone to respond..

  • +2

None in Morley, mirrabooka ,Midland & Dianella WA

    • Just picked up the last one from Bennett Springs WA

    • +1

Checked about six stores between Kwinana and Mandurah WA, and none, then found Baldivis lists it. Will post here tomorrow avo if they don't actually supply it with my order.
$20 is pretty cheap however bad the phone turns out.
      +1 thanks OP.

      • +1

No go. Woolies didn't supply the phone in the end. Probably a stock count error.
I wonder I'll lose money getting a refund to my Paypal account?

  • +1

None in West ryde and eastwood

    • +1

Cheer.s you literally saved me 10-15 min drive! :)

  • +1

This is the worst ZTE Model. Lots of these phones would no longer catch network only after a short period of use.

  • Any idea if this phone would be good as a WiFi hotspot device? I tried searching but there's not many reviews on it

    • Given 2200 mah battery, it wont last long though…better of getting dongle, comesout half price evey now and then…

  • Had to settle for Coles $39, couldn't find woolies stock anywhere. Would've been freakn nice to get this for $20 tho.

  • Why would you so eagerly get this cheap phone even though it is very lagging ? Even the kids will not enjoy it ?

    • +1

…i dunno, I saw $60 off according to ozbargain, I buy.

  • No 4g chats in Coles Ashmore, One 3g chat left, None in Coles Pacific Fair and they have removed the sticker.
