  • Just ordered one for myself as well. Am hoping to try to use this as an outdoor security camera for just outside my laundry area.

    • Damn … no more knicking your knickers ofd the clothes line outside laundry :(
I'll just have to go commando

  • Does this have a mic?

    • +1

Yes, it does. You can download the instructions/manual via this link

  • Looks like this is USB-powered? If this cam is connected to a computer via USB port, then when the comp is turned off, the camera will have no power hence useless (?) lol..
Also, can anyone confirm if it's geo-restricted like Xiaofang cams?

Interested to buy esp. because the Gateway function (the round gateway is not much of a use for me), but concern on the above issues..
    Any help is appreciated

    • Invalid point. Looking at the specs it says input power is 5V 1A, and watching unboxing videos shows in package it comes with a Micro USB to USB type A cable and a DC output USB power supply.

Power is cut off when the computer is turned off is the same as switching off at the power point when you're using an appliance.

Dont know why people negged you for asking a polite question.
Anyway, it seems you can just use any usb wall plug; for your 'usb power' . No need to use computer usb power. ie. I think most of us have plenty of usb wall plugs for our phones etc. And it comes with 1 also I believe

In a true ozbargain spirit, I took the plunge and bought this.. Hope it's not geoblocked and does have gateway function!!

      Welcome to the dark side!

  • if anyone's also having trouble setting this up
I needed to be on the mainland china server for it to discover it.

    • Hey mate, the instructions say “download mijia app”. I can’t search for any apps called mijia. All those come up are Chinese apps. Can you please advise me what app is it??
      P.s - I am using iPhone

      • hey mate,
        https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/mi-home-xiaomi-smarthome/id9…

called the xiaomi mi home app, or similar.
i'm on androind, i think this is the one you want.

i'd already used it for the vacuum.

think you'll need to make an account (free)
there's a bunch of server options. i think you'll need to choose mainland china, otherwise you won't be able to see the camera.

once it's installed, make sure you're on 2.4 wifi (not AC)
plug in the camera and wait a bit
it'll say something in chinese. once the led is flashing red, try adding a new device in the app
        it'll show up hopefully
        from there it's pretty painless.

let me know if you have any other problems

        pretty good for the price.
you can even say things to the app, and it'll play through the camera.

        • I have done all of the above. I just can’t get past the step where you required to scan a qr code with the camera

        • Disregard the previous comment. I uninstalled the app and tried again and I could see the camera. Thanks mate

        • @Harryxx:
          all good :D

    • Set up was flawless up until the mandatory update. Keep getting 'Couldn't update, please try again'

Refuses to work without updating >:(

      • hmm…
        mine updated without issues.
        tried resetting the camera again?

      • I had issues updating over my adsl. It worked when I connected to a 4g hotspot

        • I'll give this a whirl tonight. Reset a few times to no avail

  • I am also having the same problem connecting. It keeps on timing out on my 2.4GHZ nbn modem. sigh.

Anybody else having issues too and able to connect other ways than 4g hotspot???
