    Thanks TA! Another great offer.

  • Sooo tempting..

  • Nice
    $50 International
I am stuck with Kogan atm

    • +3

As am I as I just joined up for the 365 day sim with 6GB data unlimited calls etc for around $13 per month. So pretty happy for the price.

      • How?

        • The classified section here and Kogan vouchers are your friend ;) Actually my final price factoring in the price paid for the vouchers to stack for the discount my plan ended up as $12.93 per month.

        • @Spizz: yes a friend was saying Kogan have amazing deals this month. Although on vodaphone network the prices beat this

        • @Spizz:
Are you able to use more than $50 worth of vouchers?

  • Oh son of a.. I just signed up to their 24 bux for 5gb plan.

    • +6

Jump on chat and tell them. They may be able to add the 1GB :)

    • +6

call them and ask for 6gb, did this last time and they did it

    • I was in the same boat. But I just jumped on he online chat as the others suggested and they gave me the extra 1gb… so worth a try :)

    • Same here. Just got on chat and they gave it to me.

      • See the updated OP. Now 6.5GB with coupon.

        • +2

…… speechless. I give up. I'll let the 500mb slide… Not a true ozbargainer it seems

        • +1

          @LennyT:

I give up. I'll let the 500mb slide

          Reported to the mods.

In the fine print "Minimum cost over 24 months is $288" Is it 12 or 24 months contract?

    • Definitely a typo. It's a 12 month contract. Confirmed via chat before posting the deal. 12 x $24 = $288.

EDIT: they've now corrected it :)

  • +1

Where does it mention free Spotify / Google music?

    • +2

its free streaming (ie. the data doesn't count towards your cap) - you don't get the subscription for free.

    • +2

Stream your music with no data charges on Spotify, Google Play™ Music and iHeartRadio on new $30 or higher Postpaid plans. Stream until 31/03/18 & up to 512kbps

      From https://www.virginmobile.com.au/fairdata/

So only 2 a bit months of free streaming on a 12 month plan.

      • +1

Damn, only until the end of March? That's a shame :(

      • on new $30 or higher Postpaid plans

        It's only $24 a month?

        • +1

          It’s actually a $30 plan, discounted by 20% :)

        • +1

@tightarse: Oh right ok thanks for that :)

  • do these guys use the entire optus network? or just a part of it? cheers

    • All of it

    • +4

Not aware of Optus selling a restricted MVNO service like Telstra do.

      • And even if they did it'd be irrelevant since Virgin Mobile Australia is owned by Optus.

        • Belong is owned by Telstra, and they still resell a gimped service.

  • -3

    any optus deals ta?

  • +1

TA, could you please negotiate a cashback deal with other major telco such as Voda since Optus network is really shit in my area? Cheers!

    • +1

Y can go on vodafone.com.au/refer it give you and your mate who is with vodafone 25$off there second bill

  • Oh my how to get out of my Vodafone contract without paying fees… suggestions anyone? Only 10 months left of a sim only plan!

    • +2

U can move to a phone plan get one of there prepaid phones and then pay the phone out as now exit fee on plan just pay out the plan

    • Yes.

  • Does signing up to this plan require a credit check?

    • +1

      Yes I believe it does

      • Thanks

  • Can you cap data on the carrier end?

    • I don't think any carrier does this - it wouldn't be in their interests.

      • I think Woolies mobile does.

  • Am I reading the title correctly?

Too bad, already on amaysim plans ^_^

    • unlimited call/sms are international(10 countries) with amaysim

    • +1

Ya wanted to sign up for 6gb but still got 4 months remaining from that 6 months offer.

  • Thank you. Was able to switch using Live Chat.

    • Thanks for letting us know.

  • +7

    How's this better than the Kogan 6GB, 12 mth, $17 / 30day deal? https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/kogan-mobile-prepaid-voucher-co…

    • Spotify chews data! great for streamers!

      • +1

For two(!) of the twelve(!) months it's great for streamers.

    • +1

Vastly larger, superior Optus network. Not dealing with Kogan.

      • +2

I had the free kogan sim from their anniversary promotion with 16GB and it was perfectly fine wherever I was during that month.

Reluctant to go back to Virgin since 10 years ago their calls were full of static and I had to frequently tell the other person to just SMS me.

        • +5

Just going to put it out there, I think Optus have made a few changes to their network over 10 years.

        • @tp0:
Other than our different experiences, is there anything better (on paper) with this deal? Apparently there's a free 500MB code now to use.

        • @tp0:lol. Was 3G out 10 years ago??

        • @sharkfan12:

lol. Was 3G out 10 years ago??

15 Years ago now actually …. if you lived in the right suburbs
          Though was quickly expanded……

Telstra 1xRTT (pseudo 3G) on CDMA & Loop content services March 2003

Promo code Whistleout for additional 500mb (total 6.5gb)

    • OP updated. Thank you :)

    • Will this work with Cashrewards?

  • +1

That's an awesome deal. Shame I just signed up with OVO (not a contract, but my month doesn't expire until mid Feb)

    • +5

      Username checks out.

  • Any chance Optus matches this deal price or data wise?

    P.S - Need Optus Sports that's why

    • Maybe you can ask.

  • This or wait for another lebara deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/354359?

    • Optus vs Vodafone. If you are fine with Vodafone's service why not go with Kogan? They'll probably be cheaper.
If you want Optus - this is a great deal.

  • was there a spot for the whistleout coupon?? i didn't see it and my order went through.

      • +2

Thanks TA, and bugger. I totally didn't see it. I just messaged them. Hopefully they'll let me have the 500mb.

  • When does the sim get activated. If once ordered, and sim delievered how long can you hold onto it before activation or expiry?

  • Regarding the WHISTLEOUT code, for those who have already signed up, you can use the chat function to request the promo be added to your account, they will ask you for your 6-digit code and full name

  • Thanks guys, just ported over from Telstra was on a $40 plan with Unlim calls/7gb data

Best they could do to match for me was was Unlim calls/15gb data for $34/mth.

  • Thanks TA.

Can anyone confirm if we applied the WHISTLEOUT code during the checkout, does the email that comes in when the order is approved shows that the 500mb will be applied?

I don't see anything on the approved order email. I contacted Virgin Mobile Sales Chat and was told to contact Whistleout so that Whistleout can contact Virgin Mobile to apply the 500mb extra data allowance.

    Cheers.

    • I don't see it in mine or my Wife's, but it does say
"Congratulations | You'll get this web special for buying online"

which as I recall was the text that was added after applying the coupon code.

I'll be activating on the weekend, so I guess I'll find out then.

    • Activated earlier today and my account says 500mb bonus added 27 Jan, and Removed same day… Interesting!
Even though it must be more than 5 years sine I was with Virgin, using the same number, they appear to remember me, my Velocity Number was already in their system.
I wonder if the Whistleout Code is for new users only and because something has triggered the system to remember me, it's been removed?

    • Don't know if you've solved it already but I had the same issue. Jumped on to Virgin Mobile online support chat and they added the 500MB back on to my account straight away.

  • Does anyone know if Cashrewards still works with the WHISTLEOUT coupon? The Cashrewards site says it may not be approved if you use a coupon not advertised… @tightarse?

    • btw this is for the current deal of 5GB (or 5.5 with WHISTLEOUT) for $24 a month

    • Given TA works for Cashrewards and added the code to his post, it should be OK.
