    No USB-C? :(

    • +4

      I was about to say that too. I'm on a mission to eliminate microusb from my life!

    • +2

      Whats wrong with using a quality USB-A to USB-C cable?

      • If you only want usb c to usb c then getting a usb a to usb c cable just for this adds another cable to your life. It does seem strange that they wouldn't do one usb c and only have one usb a given how most new phones and laptops have usb c.

        • +1

          They do have to cater for existing devices still in circulation and use that are on microUSB and USB-A. Right now, the easiest way to be inclusive of all devices is USB-A and up to the user to convert it across using a short charging cable. Not sure why you want to cry about carrying an extra 5cm cable? There are USB-C only power banks out there if you feel carrying a 5cm cable is too much for you.

        • yep, with USB-A for charging, they can cater for micro-usb, mini-usb, usb-c, lightning, etc

  • +2

    "10000mAh Mi Power Bank 2i now has an actual output capacity of 6500mAh and offers a conversion rate of more than 90%. The compatibility extends to 5V/2A, 9V/2A and 12V/1.5A charging which allows you to connect & charge most smartphones & tablets available in the market today."

    Why does it say 10000mAh then?

    • +7

      The amps stored in the power is actually 10000mah stored at 3.6V but it gets converted up to 5V for your phone. For average consumers, they really should say something like: Will charge an iphone 8 3x or a Galaxy S8 2.5x for example.

      • Actually with QC the output voltage is variable now… You can't give an mah rating based on variable output voltage

    • Why does it say 10000mAh then?

      that's because its rated at 10000mah from the factory. that's all consumers needs to to know. adding more information like amh @ v only confuses consumers.

      • I call BS. We're all consumers - I understand ah @ v and so do many others. It's a poor excuse to say it only confuses people. If 3.6v is a standard for all USB powerbanks that would be a different story.

        • +1

          They choose to use the higher number, so that if their competitors start using the higher nunber, they won't be disadvantaged.

          At a shop, a standard consumer sees 6500 vs 10000. Same price, same weight. Who's going to win?

          Doubt it'll change any time soon.

          Many don't. The specs are for those that don't understand basic electronics terminology.

        • +2

          The vast majority of people I know, who also use powerbanks (xiaomi and others) wouldn't have the slightest clue about amh @ v.

        • +1

          If 3.6v is a standard for all USB powerbanks that would be a different story.

          It is, isn't it?

          Are there any out there with honest (5V) ratings?

        • +1

          Lol.. It's almost exactly the same as the debate about where you should be measuring the power and torque output of a car - at the crank (where all manufacturers quote from) or the Wheels (where it is actually important).

        • @b2dz: professional batteries (video cameras, lights etc) are rated in watt hours which is amp hours x voltage. When you fly, airlines check the Wh rating or calculate it from the ah x v (eg max you can carry on a flight is 160wh).

      • -1

        you can't pull power from a lithium until it's down to 0mah ..very bad for battery life.. so this has 10,000 mah of batteries, but shutsdown when there is only 3500 mah left, needs some reserve to run the electronics for the shutdown, and also to leave enough in the battery so as to prolong it's life.

        • Nothing to do with the mah rating.

  • Just tried to buy one. All sold out

  • What's the difference in this new "2018" model?

    Compared to the xiaomi pro, which has usb c and qc3? (albeit the pro is double the price)

    Couldn't find any information on the xiaomi site. This one isn't listed?

      The i is for India. Basically Xiaomi India are now manufacturing some power banks for their local market.

      • I see. Thanks!

      • +2

        One huge difference is dual output. The original "2" was just single output unfortunately.

      • +2

        Also original power bank 2 didn't have QC3.0, it only had QC2.0

        • I should have mentioned those too. I was just explaining the I.

      • See comment i left for skysky below - got one this week and they're different size

    • Newer model is also longer and heavier than the previous (work that out) and the silver logo is now plain… I received one this week that i bought off an Australian eBay seller and was adament that it was a fake however the new details have been updated on the Mi.com website

      Heres a picture of my 2 for comparison Xiaomi powerbank 2

      • There are 3 versions of the 20000mAh, Normal 20000mAh, 2 and 2C.

        • ahhh so there are - i've got a 2 and the newer one is a 2c (so the 2c is the better one I assume?)

        • @urbancartel: 2C is better as it has bidirectional Quick Charge output. The previous ones only had QC input.

        • @Clear:

          Oh great! that's awesome to know - thanks mate

  • Back again.

  • Yup bought one just then!

    Valid til 28th* Jan now

  • Bought the 20.000mAhi Mi 2C Polymer Power Bank 2 for AU $41.56. supposed to be QC3.0. Charging is great but not as fast as it should;
    14mn -> 20%
 / 47mn -> 50% /
60mn -> 56%.
    Got 60mn -> 74% plugged on my MacBook Pro charger

  • Just bought two: thanks OP!
