I know the broadlink rm mini3 can now be directly controlled by Google Home without any additional home automation software / bridges etc, but can this be controlled directly too?

    • How do you link Google Home with rm mini 3? Does IFTTT support Broadlink directly?

So far all the guides I've seen require RM bridge.

    • Would like to know this also.

    • -1

No, RM Pro won't work with Google Home/Google Home mini (via RM Bridge or RM Plugin). Previous comments.

      • Looks like the guy in this video has it working with an RM Pro, so was thinking it should work for this one too?

        https://youtu.be/RoJHFzh971U

Edit: I'm still confused between the RM Pro and RM Pro+ - AFAIK they both do IR and RF, however the Pro+ does 315MHz RF in addition to the 433 that they both do?

        • Interesting. Just installed the app and can control things via the app like eControl. Followed steps in video but can't seem to get them to appear in Home. It says it's linked but Manage Room closes before I get a chance to do anything. I'll continue to play around with it, seems like it should work.

OK, got it. You have to set each comand as a scene for Home to see it. Works! Thanks for the heads up kirt.

        • @neil:

Sweet - thanks for testing it out - bought!

      • I'm in the market for something that integrates with GH so I can control my AC and this is really good news. Can anyone confirm if there's a difference with the cheaper <$20 RM Mini 3 and the more expensive ones >$25 on ebay? Surely they all do the same thing? I can't seem to see any difference in them.

      • Seems like It is now possible to control RM Pro version directly with GM without the need of a bridge, there are heaps of videos on YouTube and this is one of them https://youtu.be/RoJHFzh971U

  • Just wondering, which devices use RF

    • Garage door using RF ?

    • +1

Ducted heating/cooling and ceiling fans is pretty common

    • Mercator grange ceiling fans / led lights do.

  • Is the main difference between this and the mini 3 the ability to control RF devices?

    • Yes :)

  • Am I going blind? Can't see anywhere to enter the coupon code…

    • it'd be below the payment method after you click proceed to checkout button

        As I suspected - blind.
        Thanks.

Thanks OP, just bought a couple 🙂

  • Bugger….was looking and looking for the code bit and missed it. Only spotted it after hitting the last payment button :(

  • Woops i think i bought the ‘old’ version in another deal. Anyone know the difference? :(

  • Sweet. Been wanting to try one of these. Thanks

  • So to confirm, this links with google home without any third party stuff. And you can control infra red devices such as tvs, amps etc as well as possibly air con units that work on infra red? Can you then say “Hey google, switch on the tv on channel 9”?

    • It links but at the moment you'll have to create a "scene", which is essentially a command or run a string of commands. I've been able to switch items either on or off but can't figure out how to ask Google Home to change the channel. Works fine in the app but the scene is called TV with command TV9 which sends out 9 via IR.

It's also problematic with say a fan. Created 2 scenes, both named fan. Can only add one command so say ON to one and create another with OFF to another. If you say turn on or off fan. It will run both scenes and send a turn on and a turn off after each other. Only way I can see it working is if I call the ON command fan (Google, Turn on Fan) and the OFF command maybe fan2/living room fan or something (Google, Turn off Fan2/living room fan). But then you'll have a different device name for the same device and thus have to remember what you have called the device.

I'm keen to hear others results with Home.

      • hi neil, do you mind me quote some your comments about this item on our product page?

        • +2

          @MiniInTheBox

I don't mind but let me keep playing around with it and I'll write up some instructions if I can ever figure out some logic to all of this.

        • @neil: ok :) waiting your instructions.

      • Are you using the IHC app or the eControl?

When I set up my RM Mini3, I followed the guy in the video, and used the IHC app to add it as a device, learnt a few IR commands, then added Broadlink under Home Control -> Devices in the Google Home app.

Going by that video, the RM Pro should be the same, and shouldn't need any scenes etc?

        https://youtu.be/RoJHFzh971U

        • Yep, using IHC. Only shows up using scenes. Guess it's different for the Pro or something is off in my setup.

        • @neil:

Yeah I dunno, cause I thought he was using a Pro in the video?

Either way, will have a play when mine arrives in a few weeks, and hopefully get it working one way or another with my RF shutters ;)

        • @kirt:

Following his video using adding via Lamp only gives an option to set buttons via IR and not RF. I've been using the User defined button where you can learn RF commands. So basically the app works fine, can control things by device or scene, no problems. Just seems to be Home (mini) not seeing devices, only scenes.

Screenshot of Home Control in Google Home

          EDIT:

OK I added my TV as a lamp and that shows up in Home as a device. So it seems you have to add things in as a lamp for Home to see it as a device. However, still only works for IR devices.

        • @neil:

Interesting…thanks for checking, and for reporting back ;)

        • @neil:

Actually, just re-watched that YouTube clip, and the guy is adding RF commands to the Pro, so hopefully it can be done (one way or another).

  • Would also to know if this can work with house alarms that use remote lock?

  • Code Expired :(

  • Mine arrived. Should have checked the frequency of the garage door I planned on using it for, it's 303MHz, so this is useless for that. Oh well…

    • Damn, I Don't have any idea on that but that's only why I bought this. How do I find you what frequency does my garage door uses? And what frequency does this one uses ?

      • How do I find you what frequency does my garage door uses?

Should be able to look up on the remote or on your garage door unit.

And what frequency does this one uses ?

        It's in the title of your deal. :) Broadlink RM Pro+ Wi-Fi + IR + RF (315/433MHz)

  • Lol, didnt read my own post. My remote just says TM-390+ in it. What does that means?
