' The JFF Mini is travelling to sunny Cairns with three free films. Don't miss a story about Japan's generation rift in black comedy MOHICAN COMES HOME, seafood-lovers' documentary film TSUKIJI WONDERLAND and 2016's favourite anime YOUR NAME.

  1. MOHICAN COMES HOME [モヒカン故郷に帰る]

Sporting a mohawk, Eikichi returns home to announce his engagement to his Tokyoite girlfriend. His conservative dad Osamu is outraged but secretly delighted at the news. The village celebrates Eikichi’s homecoming, but not long after, Osamu is diagnosed with terminal lung cancer. The events that follow are a blend of hilarity and tragedy as father and son patch up old wounds through a shared love for music.

    1 highly rated IMDB, looks interesting
    2 Tsukiji Fish Market is huge in area and a Japanese institution…at face value you could say would be boring but this place is amazing in scale and story, 7.6 IMDB which is an excellent figure
    3 Seen this one, it's a corker (agree with OP)8.5 IMDB which is in rarified air, don't be put off by it being "anime" if that term fazes you, this is simply a class production.

  • Give away movies to make money on overpriced popcorn and refreshments. I don't know why they didn't adopt this business model earlier.
