    • sound like adobe isnt set up optimaly but i get why you think that

      • Optimising and testing for mac: 30 units
Optimising and testing for windows: 2,000,000 configurations

    • Bryce, your experience is why I’ve moved away from Premiere for most projects. I love using it since it’s what I’ve used from uni in 2007 till early 2017, but its stability and ability to handle 4K is just appalling at times. I don’t have that with FCP X.

  • DONT FORGET THE INTEL BUGS, INC FREE ALONG WITH PATCHES THAT SLOW IT 10-30%

Years ago intel had a bug in the Pentium they had to REPLACE THEM ALL FOR FREE! Alas these days are over and they think they will get away with serious hardware silicon bugs and drops in perforance to patch and were all sweet. Your a fool to buy current gen intel cpus until new silicone comes out with fixes!

    • It'll be a long time before hardware is released that isn't vulnerable.

  • Personally won't buy a desktop with a screen undetachable. Otherwise, I have already bought a laptop.

  • would anyone be interested if I could order one for 12.5% off?

    • Possibly. How do you get that pricing?

    • Yes I am interest. How ?

      • Pm’ed

  • The biggest issue with this for me is the display. Currently, no PC or Mac 4K/5K display is a true HDR10 display yet. The brightness level is not even past the minimum required (yet LG is most likely quoting those displays as HDR10 ready). It's also 8-bit+FRC to achieve 10-bit, rather than true 10-bit (again, LG).

The iMac Pro display is not height adjustable and cannot be used to connect to an XBox One X or PS4 Pro.

Multi-monitor support via USB-C is annoying (dongles/cables everywhere - and good ones are expensive, lousy ones are quite lousy). While 5K is great, on a 27 inch screen, other than video editing, you will most certainly run it with at least a 1.5X scaling (otherwise everything will look tiny).

  • the threads generated by an Apple post never fails to be very entertaining and informative.

  • Sorry to put dumb question may be .. I am not very good on computers but how is this one compare to below.. will this have half or less performance due to processor ? also it has got 2TB storage

    $ 3104 APPLE iMac 27 inch Retina 5K display 3.8GHz Processor

    Key features

    • 27-inch 5120-by-2880 P3 Retina 5K display
    • 3.8GHz quad-core 7th-generation Intel Core i5 processor
    • 8GB of 2400MHz memory
    • 2TB Fusion Drive
    • Radeon Pro 580 with 8GB of video memory
    • Stunning 5-millimetre-thin design
    • Two Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) ports
    • 802.11ac Wi-Fi
    • Magic Mouse 2
    • Magic Keyboard

    • Different league. It is standard vs pro essentially.

Display is probably the same, but way better CPU, heaps more RAM, SSD instead of fusion drive (which is basically a small flash cache and traditional HD). Better graphics chip. More ports.

      • great…thanks for clarifying my dumb doubts :)

  • im on centerlink doll payments and want one of these for basic school documents, is it a good buy?

    • Do you have truck load of 4K videos which need editing/encoding/decoding and you love final cut pro so much and cannot stand the other PC/Windows video editing software? Or, you will soon have lots of work requiring 4K video editing? Or, you want to get as many OZB bargains as possible no matter the cost?

Unless it is for business and you can claim it back as expenses or you have a lot of money, if you don't need a computer to do a lot CPU/GPU intensive work, it is a waste of money getting this.

    • Absolutely, this machine is perfect for you - might be a little underpowered for your needs but should be able to make do.

      • maybe not everyone saw, but there was a thread a while back, some student was on centerlink payments, wanted a $1200 macbook and something else ridiculous expensive and overpowered for his needs.

kinda like a high yield investment $80k audi

  • Why 5K? Professionals expect 8K these days…=(
