        How about delhi to mel

  • Wow! lowest price ever I've seen to Indian Cities, thanks.

  • Anyone had tried to get a Visa?

    • +2

I did last year. Costed $50 US for each member of the family. Applied online, got approval next day.

      • Thanks for the reply. That sounds good.

  • I've always wondered about these cheap flights to Asian destinations via KL with AirAsia or Malaysia Airlines. It is usually more expensive to buy a return ticket to KL itself. Could we exit the airport on arrival at KL and forego the Chennai flight? And check in at KL airport on the return date for the trip back to Aus?

I guess baggage would be a problem if it's checked through to Chennai. Has anyone tried doing something like this?

    • +2

I think this has been discussed few times. As far as I understand, if you do not show up for your next flight (in this case KL to Chehnai), all your remaining legs would be cancelled. Do your own research though as this may not be true

      • This would be true 99 out of 100 times.

      • +1

It is often put forward that because air Asia is a point to point airline… return legs are not cancelled.

A friend of mine missed his flight out…. panicked, booked with qantas to fly out, but came back on the original return leg of the air Asia booking.

        I saw it happen.

    • Any flight is cancelled the second you no show,

Flights can be cheaper due to cheaper airport taxes in your destination and/or dropping if the fuel surcharge.

For what it's worth flights to Amritsar using scoot airlines are < 400 on many dates

Seriously though, you would have to be nuts to fly on Malaysian Airlines.

    • I was going to ask why ……… but nah!, on second thoughts, don't bother.

Only took a week for everyone to forget.

I came here for the Malaysian Airlines drama comments. I must say I'm disappointed.

  • Anything for delhi?

  • Wow, that is so cheap, amazing really

Malaysian airlines? ahh .. they will force you to chant their religious prayer first and drop somewhere.

How much Singapore is between mid May- first week of Sept.

  • I won't generalise but I for one would never fly Malaysian Airlines. They made a mistake in booking my infant ticket by booking him a bassinet but not issuing a ticket. They refused to let us board until the infant had ticket, their MEL airport counter couldn't issue a ticket because "they are not a ticketing counter". The call center wouldn't issue ticket until they investigated how this happened. So we weren't allowed that flight and obviously, all the remaining flights got cancelled because they marked us as 'No show'. This was Christmas 2016! They couldn't rebook us because it was Christmas and the rebooking option was with us paying the fare differences and cancellation penalty of $2500+ per person on top of the fare. In the end they suggested that we should fly in a few months time. Long story short, this never got resolved even after escalating to their ANZ regional manager. Took it to Fairtrade and VCAT. VCAT said that they don't have the jurisdiction to mediate in this issue. Finally wrote to their management team, including the so called 'Customer experience manager' but no response. And all this was despite them admitting their fault in the booking error.

  • Im looking at flight to go overseas to save on major dental work I need done (probably a couple of implants, and a few crowns) .
Is India the best option ? Im looking to save money on the significant dental work I need done, however I still want a good and safe procedure .
Im a student, so can't afford to keep spending all this money on Australian dentist (about $12,000 in last 3 years).
Note: Im not caring about the actual vacation enjoyment of location. Just the good dental work at best price. The dental work I wanr done would probably cost upwards of $10,000 in Australia. From what I've heard, I can pay for flights, dental treatment, then still save alot of money.

The quality of denitists in India vary a lot. Best to use references from people you know who've done dental work there.

Yes, it can be heaps cheaper there, and if you find a good dentist, same/better quality too. (The wife is a dentist from India, who now works in Sydney as a dentist. She charged about Rs 2000 ie $30 for a basic root canal in India, and now charges about $1500 for the exact same procedure here).

      • Wow . Thats a huge difference.
Thank you very much for the advice.
Do you have any recommendations for which hospital or which dental place to go in India please ?
Maybe where your wife worked is best ?
I heard from someone that big city hospitals in india are best/safest and regulated more .

ozzpete - thats true. I paid 20AUD for a filling in Khar, Mumbai. Dental work is quite cheap. Best option is to book a flight to chennai, and get it done there. Good deals for chennai.

  • I want to fly to Delhi in Feb, anyone know of a good deal. One way only! I got 475 on Thai Air ATM.
