BMW American Express Gold Card $0 Annual Fee 1FF Point Per $1 + 10K Bonus Points

430

Thanks to Coolsteps for posting this in the Qantas AMEX deal. Thought it deserves its own post because this is actually a better deal. It's a Gold Card, however you need to spend $500 within first 2 months to receive the 10K bonus points. I will be applying for both cards :). Thanks all for sharing.

  • I was looking at applying today and ditching my Qantas Amex but confirmed first a few things with Amex.

Deal is still on! - finishes 31/03/11

No annual fee ever - good but so is Qantas Amex.

No Complimentary travel insurance - they said if nothing is mentioned in the brochure it would not be there.

… and the "fees apply" mentioned for qantas rewards is the $35 transfer fee to convert your rewards point
to Qantas rewards point - unlike Qantas Amex which automatically converts your rewards points to Qantas Rewards. So if like me you only use points to fly every 3-4 years thats ok as there is no expiry on points.
But if you shop for goods every few months thats $35 for every conversion. Not so ok.

Without travel insurance i will hang on to my Qantas Amex until a better deal comes along.

    • Good research.
I am thinking to replace my ascent with this one, after I receive the $50 giftcard. Main reason is it has 55 days interest free period, whilst the qantas only got 44. And I reckon many point boosting promotions from Amex are boosting the ascent points? Correct me if I am wrong.

  • So when do the points get credited to the account? At the end of March?
