I was going to remove this post as people have given good feedback, why you shouldn't get a quote, but i'll leave it up incase anyone wants a Youi policy. Thanks for everyone's advice and feedback.

What is the ratio of youi dollars to schrute bucks?

    • +1

      $100 Youi = 1 Cheeseburger

    • +4

Approximately equal to the ratio of unicorns to leprechauns

  • Thought this campaign was heaps old already.

  • expensive!

Negging because this company is impossible to deal with. I was after a couple of quotes for contents and car insurance. This involved multiple phone calls, attempted high pressure tactics, wouldn't take no for an answer, wouldn't give a straight answer and so on. Re: the car insurance, I hadn't even bought a car, they wanted me to sign up on the spot just in case.

    Never, ever again.

    • Can't you just do it online?

      • +4

As part of the quote process you have to enter your mobile number.

      • +7

You do it online and then they call you. Their quote was double what all the others were and they tried selling me home insurance which was not what I wanted. The 100 Youi dollars goes through automatically after a few days so no having to deal with anyone for that.

    • +1

Why did you not press the red button on your phone at that point?

    • Also notorious for not paying out. Right up there with Coles.

  • +12

NOTE - You cant just submit a form online to get a quote, instead they insist on calling you after you fill in the form and annoy you!

    • Exactly!

    • +4

instead they insist on calling you after you fill in the form and annoy you!

they had me on the phone for about an hour last year asking for details for the quote. When they gave me the quote, it was absolute crap. It cost more, and had a higher excess… waste of time

    • Similar experience here.

Their slo-mo, smug-fork advertising suggests their policies are artfully crafted based on individual circumstances.
I hoped that my very low mileage would reflect in a 'drive less, pay less' quote…

      Yeah, nah.

All they cared about was that my car 'formed part of my commute' on the short trip to the train station.
Didn't matter that it only does a few '000 km/year overall.

Premium and conditions not even vaguely competitive and the spamming was a nuisance.

It's a good deal for Dominos Coupons as they stack with 40% off (or whatever deal).

So for example, there is $15 off 3 pizzas I used yesterday.
    40% off pizzas. So Melbourne range is $9.95 each = $29.85 - 40% = $17.91
    then -$15 = $2.91 for 3 pizzas.

The voucher costs 15 Youi dollars.

As for the gift cards, you are just using the Youi dollar to get a discount on the gift cards. So you can get for example $75 off a $500 Flight Centre egift using 75 Youi dollars. You still have to pay $425 for gift card so it's just giving you the opporunity to buy the gift cards. Haven't seen anywhere selling Flight Centre gift cards at 15%. Discounted Gift Card Wiki

    • Omg! All the savings I could have had 😣

Also, they are offering $5 off Secure Parking for 5 Youi dollars. This makes it cheap or free for some parking lots that offer the cheap weekend and night parking.

    • +1

do you have to answer the phone to get the 100 YouiDollars?

      • +2

Not sure but was a short conversation. It was annoying though as I had to give all my details to them again only to be told a ridiculous quote. I only spoke to them once, never bothered me again.

        • +1

Sweet, might give it a go.

    • So just tested and the 3 Pizzas for $xx code doesnt stack with Youi, but only the xx% off ones do. Best % off coupon found today is only for 28% off :( , but better than nothing I suppose :)

      • +1

Yeah, only the % off and not the 50%. So I usually wait for the 40% off deals and stack with that. Also they claim the codes expire after 2 weeks but did an order where code was a couple days over and that worked as well.

EDIT: Also, being in Victoria we get access to the Melbourne range which is only $9.95 each which are the cheapest pizzas to get on the deal.

        • I randomly tried the $7.95 for traditional pizzas and it stacked!! 3 Pizzas for $8.xx , pretty happy with that! Thanks for the headsup :)

To hell with Bitcoin, Youidollars are the future!

  • are these soft enough for the toilet?

  • Gain 100 YouiDollars

What can I buy with 100 YouiDollars?

    • Enough to put your number in the do not call list

    • +1

Aww.. $100 Youi dollars?! I wanted a peanut!

      • $100 can buy you many…oh wait, 100 Youi dollars. Never mind.

  • +8

Youi forces a salesperson to call you to obtain a quote and they're very forceful with their calling. I legitimately wanted a quote 2 years ago and the next morning I had 3 missed calls and an email before lunch time. When I did get around taking their call I had to repeat all the information I submitted online only to find out 40 minutes later that the quote that I'd be "very happy with" was about $700 more than my quotes from RAC and Allianz. Waste of time don't bother.

    • Found the same shit.

This was despite the fact that "Youi rewards its members for parking in a safe space" and me selecting a card-entry only facility as my place of work and a very low crime area suburb as my home.

    • Avoid this vile and despicable bunch at all costs. You buy insurance for a piece of mind, not for nasty surprises.

  • +1

Is this like Itchy & Scratchy Money?

    • No, there are no cartoons on this money, so it's worse

  • +1

I'll save you all some trouble. It's not worth it, they pester you and waste your time

  • +1

They also hire known drug addicts (I used to live near their headquarters). They are literally hungry for a sale so they can afford their next fix!

  • Funny ass company. Ofcourse you have to give your number to get the quote and then they call you. My quote returned super high apparently because I had some demerit points. Dude was like "Sir, are you SURE you have that many demerit points? Perhaps you really have a lower number". lol. They will do anything for a sale.

Ended up with Bingle - seems decent. Done one claim to date.

    • +3

Sir, are you SURE you have that many demerit points? Perhaps you really have a lower number

So they're trying to push you into lying so they can then deny claims later on based on the fact you gave wrong info. Holy shit that sounds illegal as (profanity).

They offered me a bargain quote of $2400 for my car insurance premiums after wasting 30min of my time on the phone. Went with a competitor in the end for $680 and got 5000 velocity points as a bonus lol.

  • Recently went with these guys, had way better reviews from people dealing with them than the other budget insurers (Budget direct, virgin, coles)..
    Dont forget $40 cashrewards
    https://www.cashrewards.com.au/youi
No experience with them yet but I didnt get pestered

    • Do you have to buy a product from them to get the $40?

      • +1

"Earning cashback with Youi is easy. Simply click the Cashrewards 'Shop Now' button and start a quote. Follow Youi’s online steps and provide your phone number. A Youi customer service consultant will call you to finalise details of the policy. After you purchase the policy, and the cooling off period ends, you will earn cashback from Cashrewards."

My experience with them means I will never touch them again.

Someone drove into the back of my car. They organised a repairer, then held the car to ransom and forced me to pay the excess because they couldn't decide whose fault it was (despite my independent witness and the fact that he drove into the back of me and then did a runner). Then the case manager insisted that the road rules were "more of a guideline" than actual rules.

Eventually they returned my $750 and I asked to be put through to cancellations.

Youi is THE most expensive insurer out there. Even with very low KMs their premium are more expensive than a "normal" insurer. Avoid like the plague. Every time I see their adds it makes me angry. AbsX is a negger.

  • Highly recommend to stay away.

When first looking for insurance I got about $1300~ from one company, and $2400 from Youi. They pestered me for two weeks and seemed baffled as to why I didn't want to pay almost twice as much with them. You won't get a quote online, you'll just be inundated with phone calls..

  • +2

Can you still get the youi dollars if you give fake info then?

  • +1

driving for 25 years, never had an accident or claimed in my life, yet $1100 more expensive than current insurer.
get your hand off it YOUI.

  • +1

Youi is the biggest waste of time ever. I once wasted an hour on the call with them only to be given a quote that was 2x as much as nearest competitor. There is a reason they don't give quotes online, they are expensive and try to talk you into it.

  • Yeah stupid online quote system leads back to phone a call from their sales rep then ask you all over again from scratch "ok, what type of insurance are you looking for?" even the info I have already filled up online. What a waste of time might as well put a big banner on their main webpage 'phone call quote only'.

  • exactly same experience as the others.

call me when I submit the quote and go through the exact same information.

then the price was significantly more than what I am paying with AAMI.

waste of mine and their time.

though didn't try to talk me into it.

I would have thought with all the granularity in questions there price would be more competitive.
i.e. everyone who will ever drive the car needs to be on the insurance to get the lower excess.
    location at day and night?
do I use a mobile phone?

I was looking to buy a weekend car and called around to get quotes for insurance to see if I could afford (justify) to buy the car.

I explicititly told them that I didn’t own the car, but the salesman said I should take out a policy just in case I bought it. They called me seventeen times after the initial phone call.

I don’t even remember if their price was competitive, but it could have been free and I wouldn’t have used them.

Now, when I’m bored I’ll enter a workmates phone number into website to ask for a quote for a saanyong stavic. F**k youi

    • +2

You must really hate your workmates

      • :)
It’s become a standard prank. They do it back to me too.

  • Tried to get a quote from them few years ago - they want all contact details upfront.
Not car details or my details but just contact details.
    It didn’t look right.
    Not recommended.

  • got the 100 youi dollars, is there anything good?

    • How do you get the youi dollars? I got a quote but didn't have to enter my contact details except for my email.

      • got it 5 days after completing the quote to the quote email.

        • Ok cool thanks for that
