  • Merged from [Prime] Canon EOS RP $1499 + Eligible for Free RF 35mm F1.8 STM Canon Lens via Promotion (~$656+ at retailers) - Only 5 left
    Go to Deal

I just bought this myself, and thought someone else might find it useful.

Prices for the RP have gone up since a year ago, and I've been holding off buying until I get the body for below $1100. This sealed the cake for me as I didn't have a macro lens in my kit.

There's only 5 left, so not an accessible Ozbargain deal.

As per title - you can buy the Canon EOS RP for $1500, and you 'should' be eligible for the free lens promotion from Canon Australia, which has roughly a value of $600 or more.

  • Merged from [SA, VIC] AMD Ryzen 5 1600 AF $149 Pickup Only @ MSY (Adelaide, Clayton)
    Go to Deal

Bought one today from Pascoe Vale and they are now sold out. I couldn't add to cart but I went to see and was able to pick it up but now there are none there.

Could be limited stock, saying Adelaide and Clayton has stock. May be best to turn up.

I tried to call them and email but they don't really answer, classic MSY.

Is this the Af version? If so i think this may be the best price for this cpu since the start of this pandemic

      Edit:
Looked at the link and it says that it is indeed the AF version, if you can get this i would recommend as this is has the same performance as a r5 2600 its just rebranded to the older r5 1600

      • +4

Well spotted! That makes this a pretty great deal IMO. The Ryzen 3100 goes for about the same price and performs similarly in games, but the 1600AF does much better in productivity and should age better with its extra 2 cores.

        • Had the 1600AF for a while. Great budget CPU.

    • +2

      any deals on floppy disks?

      • +2

yeah i need some for my 486DX

        • +1

          woah… man with a co-processor so privileged!
this pauper with a SX feels inadequate

        • Pfft Richy Rich. I had an SX33

      • don't copy that floppy

        • too late…. "Your PC is now Stoned!"

    • I have the original 1600 and can vouch for this being a great budget cpu, as others have said if it is the AF version i've heard its much better so kind of a no brainer for those on a tight budget.

    • The AF version was a good processor but with what's coming in only weeks, I feel like you really only want to pay $99 for this thing now.

We're likely to see some kind of budet processor in the next 3 months that's got over 40% better single core performance.

      • +1

they will mostly re-badge to some of the E series… cant wait to see the 3600E or 3700E like what they did to the 2000 series.

        • I mean the 1600AF is nice but it annoys me that it launched at $99 US, 9 months ago and it's sitll $99 US

    • +6

Just be aware that if you buy this CPU you will may not be able to pair it with the latest 500-Series motherboards (B550, A520, X570). Only 300 and 400 series will work.

I did some googling and some users report the AF chip working on X570 but do note that it's not guaranteed to work on every board.

Especially newer boards and newer BIOs versions because they often drop support for old CPU's to make space on the BIOS memory chip for new CPU's (ROM size limitation)

      • Can confirm. I'm running a 1700 (older than a 1600af)on a gigabyte x570 ud. Mileage may vary. Open up your bios file to see if the CPU Id is in it

        https://i.redd.it/9lrdncwyw9551.png

        https://github.com/platomav/MCExtractor

      • We also run Athlon 220GE (zen+) on B550M board. We bought a cheap Athlon to keep the PC running until 5000 series are released. I found out about compatibility issues after I bought the processor but it just worked with no problems.

      • Im using the 1600 Af on a x570 Tuf plus mobo, no problems but this should work on x570 motherboards as it supports 2000 and 3000 series chips (unless specified) the 1600 af is basically just the r5 2600. Also the 1600 af didnt appear in the supported cpus for the x570 tuf plus mobo and mine still worked

    • +2

The 1600AF (slightly lower clocked 2600) seems to be effectively equivalent in speed to the 3500X

      1600AF $149
      3500X $298

      https://www.techspot.com/review/1977-amd-ryzen-1600-af/

      Bargain for a budget cpu

      • With the bonus of more cores (actually threads, my bad) if you do productivity work as well.

  • Merged from Dell S2721DGF (Refurb) $479 @ Dell Outlet (6 available)
    Go to Deal

Ozbargain's favourite monitor on Dell Outlet. 6 available as of posting time.

Nano-IPS panel, QHD (2560x1440), GSync compatible etc etc

    • +1

Sounds weird. How come they have 6 refurbished ones already after this monitor was rolled out only a few months ago?

      • Maybe cancelled orders sent to outlet?

      • +2

Because refurbs probably include the ones people returned for no reason, or thought were broken because they couldn't be bothered adjusting the colours.

      • +1

Check the comments on previous. Quite a few get set back due to stuck pixels etc

        • Considering it uses an LG panel, not surprised. I've recently had to return my LG 27GN950 as well due to an issue where it won't register any input when waking up from power save mode when connected in dual-head config. This monitor uses the same panel as 27GL850.

    • Cheers for the post however, I did attempt to get it but apparently CUA dislikes my online purchasing and restricted it multiple times..

  • Merged from Dell S2721Q 27 Inch 4K (UHD) Monitor $369 at Dell Outlet
    Go to Deal

Not the lowest it has been, but a decent price.

Decent IPS panel with UHD resolution.

5 available at time of posting, but be aware the ETA for the Dell website (non-outlet) is showing 40 days. If you need one quicker, this might be the way to go. If the 40-day ETA stays that way, it might be unlikely for any good friday orders to be delivered within 2020.

    Cheers

Has anyone been abe to price match in Vic ?

    • Following. Let me know if this deal is happening in QLD Brissy

    • +7

Called Vermont South store and quoted the 5TB black version, and the lady said no stock Victoria wide except for (possibly) only 1 stock in Chirnside Park.

    • Wow, that's a very good price.

    • +2

Called up Dandenong and Fountain Gate store no luck .

    • +2

Seagate's drives under 8tb under $280 are mostly SMR if anyone wonders

      • whats SMR and is it bad in comparison to something?

        • +1

SMR is fine for storage not used 24/7. If you plug in transfer data and unplug it's fine. With SMR there is a significant drop in speed with extended read and writes, so they are bad for a NAS.

          • +3

@drinkin-beer: I acctually don't do much writing and 3 years later my Smr drive's speed drops down to 25mb/s which is like a nightmare. CMR would be safer all the time. No matter how you use them they won't have any significant speeddrop in the first 5-10 years

          • @drinkin-beer: thats a shame,
would it say on the case itself if its SMR, if someone goes check.

            on the box

            • +1

@MagicTsukai: Nope it's a bit of sneaky process they employed without without really disclosing it initially. Basically anything under 10tb these days is SMR except a select few. This also includes WD red NAS drives which WD did hoping no one would notice. Needless to say it rubbed people up the wrong way. Seagate ironwolf are still CMR though. If you want a comprehensive list just google "known SMR drives" and you will see a list of all drives that use this manufacturing method.

        • +2

SMR are OK if your mainly archiving data, in a write once, read many scenario. They are considered inferior to PMR/CMR in all other scenarios.

Can you price match via phone and get free delievery with it?

      • Not sure , I mean if you're lucky enough to find some in store go for it

    • +4

Called the Blacktown store(2:30pm), they have about 5 of the 5TB models, no hold, no payment over the phone. If I start driving now pretty sure there wont be any left by the time I reach there. :(
