  • Does my first name need to start with Sam to access this deal or is it all first timers ;)

  • The voucher expires at 2/3/18?

    • Is that what it says in the Uber app?

      • +1

I added the voucher using a new account, shows Mar 2 2018

        • Thanks.

  • I have a an account which I opened a couple of months ago but never used it but the code doesn't work, says a new user promotion has already been applied, which I did back than but I never actually used my account yet.

    • +1

But has that promo voucher expired?

  • How do I check that? I'm sure it has but can't see where it's says

    • +1

Under promo, or maybe do a dummy order of a ride. If it's expired then you probably can't add another code. Use Taxify instead!

I was looking into opening new account (although already have 1) . I was reading somewhere online that they read IMEI from your phone to stop you making multiple accounts .
Has any1 made and used multiple 'new accounts' with UBER to make use of these deals.
If IMEI change is required, what is easiest app/program etc to use for IMEI spoofing . I have plenty of spare samsung s3, s4, that I could root phone, and install IMEI changer onto.

    • I tried doing that, after while I was able to create an account but when I tried to book a ride they blocked. I'm not sure how they linked my multiple accounts, I wasn't careful enough. I've also heard they identify you with MAC address.

      • So according to that article, apple does not allow apps access to phones identidy features ie. A full wipe/reset means all previous use info is denied to apps.
So i guess time to pull out the old iphone next time I require an uber. Iphone 5 with cracked (still working) screen… $50 value . Could get many $25 discounts using the $50 phone :) .
Probably could get an iphone 4s with damage (but working) for about $30 , if 4s supports uber app.

Apart from the fact that changing Imei might land you in legal tangles provided your are willing to take the risk, you also need a rooted android phone , xposed installer and there are quite a few apps which allows you to change the imei but hey its Uber they will try and stay ahead in the game so to fool them you need to change the android ID of your phone along with imei number.

To the best of my knowledge, Uber also remembers the location from which the booking was done, so will be a good idea to move few feet out of your house to make a booking as uber will also remember the network name (happy to be corrected) to which your phone was connected to wifi.

Rinse repeat with new sim cards and set up a new Google account for the new ID / imei.

      • I highly doubt law enforcement is interested in pursuing any of us for tricking the uber app into thinking we have a different IMEI , while we are using a phone which we own.
If you were to steal a phone and change IMEI for that reason, to avoid Australian IMEI block by police or service providers, that would be another thing .

You get stopped if you use the same credit card. I've had no problem with an Android phone.

      • So youve made multiple accounts with android phone ? (different credits/debit cards)
Can you please explain to us what technique and/or apps you used .
ie. Did you have to change imei, change user of android, or some other type of hack to ensure uber allowed another account to be made.
        Thanks

I used different email, phone number (sims) and credit card numbers. Using a Samsung note5 without any mods or additional apps.

@rabbit71: How many accounts? This is what I was doing but they caught on after about five new accounts.

        • @sween64: Not that many. One in the US and three in Oz.

        • @rabbit71:
Thank very much for the info. I will have to try when im in need of an uber.
I only have use for uber when travelling interstate, otherwise I just use my own car.

So is if I change user of my Android phone (7.0 able to change user and I often use this function to use 7-Eleven app to get offers again and and again by create and remove user again and again), using new android Id (new gmail), new sim and new credit card number, it should be ok?

    • Thanks for the info and idea on 7/11 app.
You could try and see if that method works on uber. I read that IMEI number is tracked by uber, which seems very unfair, given that an individual might purchase a second hand phone, then not be able to access new user offers, just because the previous owner of phone had used uber app.

  • Hrmm, getting a "Another Promotion Was Already Applied" dont know how thats possible i just created the account.

    • Any chance it's a second hand phone?

      • nope literally a month old.

  • Uber now Ola who is gonna win the Monopoly ?

    • Taxify

The customers will win with competition and hopefully it never becomes a monopoly.
What the Taxis once had was more a monopoly
