Something else to be aware of is that Telstra is offering a 'Galaxy Tab A 8.0 tablet' as well as the wireless charger

    • +3

was excited by this but found out their plans are a bit pricier than competition and the phone is actually on lease

Need someone smart here to calculate which is the better deal

    • +2

their plans are generally a tad higher and it's one of the cheaper tablets on the market, so i guess in some way you are still paying for it…In saying that, it wouldn't be too bad of a gift for the casual user or kid.

  • +10

FYI, it took Samsung over 3 months from when I pre-ordered my phone to actually delivering my charger for the Note8, despite me chasing them repeatedly..

    • +1

    • Same, very poorly organised

  • anyone know what type of screen they use for those phone.
just thinking if they as fragile as the s8's

  • +11

Wow, $1500 RRP for the S9+. Samsung and Apple don't compete any longer who's gonna make the better phone but who's gonna rip the customer better off

    • +1

When Apple charge that much they cop so much sh't from Android fanboys, when Samsung/Google follows 'we need competition'

      • +2

Do you know why? Because Samsung at least adds a proper quick charger to the phone. Apple doesn't even do that

        • So thats worth the price?

      • +3

to be fair without even going into the nitty gritty, the S9+ with 256gb & 6.2" screen is $1499RRP…if you compare that with the iPhoneX 256gb & 5.8" screen $1800-1829…and Apple have older technology with a newer startup tech 2.0 naming system

And Apple gets updates straight away, where Samsung can be years behind in android updates

        • +3

          @asa79: and that's not true

        • +2

@asa79: so you downvoted be because that justifies an extra $300? lol get over yourself mate. iPhoneX was a flop and you know it…they will turn around and say they are stopping production, and then come back and say they are offering the X specs for standard phones for their next release, but raise the standard pricing once again.

@Where's_That_Cake: https://www.androidcentral.com/unbearable-slowness-samsungs-… The unbearable slowness of Samsung's updates
Samsung controls the fate of updates for millions of Android users around the world. So why is it still so slow?

Year after year, the world's biggest phone manufacturer fails to deliver on its promise for timely software updates, and in doing so significantly depresses the overall tally in the process. Google can push updates to its Nexus and Pixel lineup as quickly as it wants (and it does), and companies like Sony, HTC, OnePlus and others can help make a dent, but it's not until Samsung begins its lumbering annual rollout that the tectonic shift begins anew. With Oreo still on under 1% of devices, that massive endeavor can't come quickly enough.

        • @andrgram: Was it a Flop?

        • @asa79: so which updates on my S8+ are years behind?

        • @Where's_That_Cake: Do you have Oreo on it?

        • @asa79: so there are no updates that are years behind. Good to know, cheers.

Also I'm surprised that Apple users would gloat about updates considering Apple themselves admitted that they eventually screw up your iPhone.

        • @Where's_That_Cake: Personally doesnt affect me, you not to not take it serious

        • @asa79: And not having Oreo doesn't affect me either, you see how this works? Blindly hating on a product because it isn't the one you bought is just plain stupid.

        • @Where's_That_Cake: I have android devices, My Nexus 7 hasn't had an update in years. Not even a Spectre/Meltdown patch

        • -1

          @asa79: ok

  • +1

Looks like you have to wait until September with Optus

  • +3

Pass nothing special about this phone.

    • +3

Yeah, I have to agree. My wife and I just went through the specs and literally just decided to keep our S7 Edges for another year. We'll wait for the 10 methinks :) Bonus charger is a nice sweetener for those who get a 9 though!

      • Where as Apple wireless chargers are 100$..
I too have a Samsung s7 and think it will be good to wait because you should see some nice huawei xiaomi or LG phones coming out for example the LG q6 looks amazing and is dirt cheap but special wise it is behind on ram, resale also on an s7 is next to nothing right now too so I'll end up keeping mine till a decent bargain comes along maybe late 2018 still waiting for Oreo on the Samsung also.

      • +1

And here I am, just upgraded to an s7 from a note 3…

  • +1

Is it first time Samsung didn't improve the display on galaxy s? It doesn't feel like a big update in other areas as well, same battery size, a bit thicker, and CPU is still slower than iphone x. No new features comoarable to iris scanner or face detection that they offered in the previous years.

  • Didn't the s8 preorder come with the gear vr? A wireless charger seems like a downgrade by comparison.

Perhaps Woolworths will come out with another killer deal (no, not the 36 month one).

    • personally i would have much rathered the Wireless charger anyday…i hated the idea of the VR as to me it's still somewhat unrefined…I've used it twice. And never would have used it until my mate convinced me.

      • Each to their own but I'd say it's more about value. The vr unit had a rrp of 199 whereas this wireless charger is 149.

      • +1

Agreed… I got the S7 edge on preorder with the Gear VR… It's still in the box, I've never even opened it.. (but just HAD to have it), lol…

  • With that money, they should give you a house, not just a charger :D .

    • Not in Sydney, you'd just get smashed avocado here.

  • I got it from my Note 8 and took them 2 MONTHS to get delivered. Once i got it I never used it only tested it that my blitzwolf cable charger is alot faster to charge my note 8

  • Does anyone know if you can trade in old phones for a credit towards a new one anywhere else apart from a Samsung store ?

  • Honestly just waiting on a price drop on the s8 now that this is being released

  • If anyone received a code to buy the 256gb sd card with their phone, I would love to use it and TRS them. Can buy for you too, code is apparently valid for multiple cards ! (Apologies if u see this msg a few times as time is running out)
