Bugger seems it's been taken down. Would've been all over this.

  • This would've been fantastic in my build. Bugger!

    (profanity) off…

Not at you or the deal, but at what I spent on something similar recently.

    Oh wait, DDR3, phew.

    • +1

yeah, caught my attention until I saw ddr3 ….. i had though about upgrading some of my older boards from 8gb to 16 gb a while ago but when i saw the resale of those old PCs it didn’t seem like a great idea, and not much i have goes beyond 8gb anyway.

      • Yeah, when I look at upgrading my old system I think for a few bucks more I can get an entire 3rd generation i5 system. I just gave my wife my old PC, even a 1st gen i5 is more than enough for web browsing and Office applications. It already has a SSD, if I made it 16GB instead of 8GB she could use it until the motherboard dies.

  • Lmao I've sold used DDR3 for more than this recently… crazy good deal on the off chance it goes through, but 1-5% chance this gets honoured repeatedly.

It's not a good time to buy PC parts. Literally every part for a PC is over priced now. I wish we could reduce it but the PC market is dying and being replaced.

    • +5

it’s not dying, look at the demand for SSD , the thing is for many people the older PCs still have life in them, one of our PCs is 2nd gen i5 … we put in a 1tb ssd and it runs win 10 and games and office great.
our newest is 6 th gen i5 , and upgrade usually means new mb, cpu and ram …. don’t gain much spending another $600 on an upgrade to gen 8 and selling the old gen 2 mb cpu and ram for $100, and the associated low ballers and tyre kickers you deal with that are part of the process of selling old PC gear.

it’s expenisve to upgarde with current prices and flat wages and high everyday expenses.

unlike phones you don’t just get a new PC every 2 years, and unlike android which sees only about 2 years of upgrades on a hardware platform , windows seems to have a much longer lifespan on older hardware, heck win10 runs fine on 8 year old hardware once you have an ssd.

        • PC is no longer the first target for production.

          1) Incorrect

          2) It may have escaped your attention but did you know that PS4 and Xbox use PC compatible parts?

Do you build your Xbox and PS4s?

Dying? Not sure what you're smoking champ, must be good sh!te.

    • Gaming PC market is booooooming. Profits have never been higher, more people play PC games than ever before. To say it's dying is crazy lel.

It is true that non-gaming PC market is tumbling though.

      • ???

Profits mean nothing when prices are doubled.

It is true that non-gaming PC market is tumbling though.

Gaming PC market is not as big as the average user market.

        • Do you always use you imagination as a source?

Profits mean nothing when prices are doubled.

How high are you right now cuz I'm high as (profanity) and i'm not that inanely nonsenical lel.

        • @StoneSin:
While Diji1's comment about consoles using pc parts isnt accurate, I think what he was trying to say is they use the same architecture as PC's given they essentially run AMD APU's. You cant swap in and out parts besides the hard drive obviously.

His point is valid about the market though. Yes some parts are over priced right now but a large part of that is shortage due to demand. Not every part is over priced, really it's only DDR4 due to limited availability because of manufacturing, and GPU's due to mining.

The PC gaming market is pretty damn big right now and as a whole the market is booming. To say it's dying is laughable.

        • @combatant: Demand is still high, I never said it wasn't. But it's so high that we're dead last. That's my point. Eventually we'll come back to first, but right now "PC Gaming for you and your kids" isn't a big part of the market at all.

  • Hard to believe this is legit. No viable reason for them to sell this RAM for this price, when the second hand market is more.

Stranger things do happen, but man, if the OP gets these RAM kits at this price, that's a price we probably won't see again for a very very long time.

    • I assume was intended to be the 2x4GB kits.

The model up (C9 - better timings) in 2x4GB is $119. Assume the C10 variant would then go for ~$109 most days with their pricing. Basically a $25 saving then. Still a damn good bargain, but not unrealistic then…

      • Very likely.

    • some sellers just don’t want to hold legacy stock hoping somebody comes in for an upgrade, and they probably won’t restock unless it’s a special order, new motherboards would be ddr4, so they clear the shelf to make space.

if you need ddr3 for an old board if feels like the centre of the universe , but compared to new ddr4 sales it insignificant, and manufacturers are making less of it.

  • +1

Curious if they honoured this… I assume was meant to be 2x 4GB (currently $119), still even that would've been a great deal…

  • link error ? or am I too late ?

    • +1

      too late.

  • So did anyone get it for this price?

    • I got an order in for 1, will update if I get it :) I hope I do since I'm in dire need of an upgrade xD

    • interesting would be how many they had for sales, and if they would be restocking or had a couple and were just clearing the shelf space.

  • Got an email saying they out of stock and will refund lol
