I like it and moved from Spotify.
On windows 10 it supported the now playing notifications a long time before Spotify did.
Try it if you have Spotify. You can use 3rd party websites to transfer playlists. I liked the app personally.
From what I remember soundiiz takes an extremely long time to convert and some options (don't know if it's the deezer one) requires payment.

It's been saying "coming soon" for like 6 months now. Still not available to select. I'm waiting until it's available, hopefully there will be another offer by then.
Install the Deezer app on the android phone, then cast onto the Google Home speaker, allowing the basic operations like skip, pause, rewind, resume etc.
That's one way, but a work around. There's nothing like just asking Google Home to play something without touching your phone. I'll stick with Google Play Music for now and hope that free access expiry coincides with Deezer Home integration and another Deezer offer

How could a service compete with Spotify and the other existing services? Surely they'll never have the cast catalogue.

They’ve been around since 2007. Don’t think they would have survived this long without doing something right.
Deezer actually provides even higher quality audio than Sportify at FLAC quality rather than MP3. This is probably unnoticeable without higher end audio equipment but its a nice option to have. That, and there's been maybe one song I couldnt find on Deezer among of hundreds of searches, so it's probably not that far off Spotify in library size regardless.

No it's just unnoticeable. MP3 has been transparent quality for a long time.

They differentiate themselves.
Deezer offers higher quality music, has a random shuffle and I think they have better apps.
Dessert also has about 10 million more songs than Spotify.
Spotify only works in 58 countries where Deezer works in 180 countries.

I used Deezer for a while and it's a worthy competitor for Spotify.

Any particular features offered that make it any better than spotify, just not much point swapping for no reason why I have my student discount
Somewhat better sound quality, supported in more countries and devices like Windows Phones, but if you don't fall in any of those camps and own some serious hifi equipment, the difference is imperceptible to Spotify's 320kbps. Otherwise, Spotify will always be better for socials, sharing, and discovery.

If you want to 'pay artists appropriately,' buy their music. All these services, including Spotify and Deezer, run at a loss because they charge less than half an album for unlimited monthly streams, less if you're someone who just makes new accounts for free trials.

EDIT: Found the answer. Once you cancel your PayPal payment, it will cancel the renewal but you will still have 3 months of use.

My favourite feature about spotify.
You can actually port Spotify playlists to Deezer and vice versa.
Unless you need the constant updates from that playlist.
So if there is a 500 song playlist on RnB, you can port it to Deezer, it will probably have 488 songs or something like that
Deezer has a larger library than Spotify, but there are songs that are found in one and not the other.
Even if you want the updates, you can just keep porting it (if it is not tiresome).

I jumped on the free 3 month Tidal subscription a few weeks ago but the app and content is nowhere near as good as Spotify or Apple Music (or even Google Play). Since I'm trying to ration out my free trails as much as I can, I'm torn whether to jump to Deezer now instead or wait it out…
