[Pre Order] Nokia 7 Plus 4GB/64GB Black/White (£291.66) ~$515.15 AUD + Delivery ($26.65 - $44.42 AUD) from Clove Technology (UK)

Clove Technology (UK store) are taking preorders for the Nokia 7 Plus (unlocked) in black/white with stock expected on 16 April. They are selling it for £291.66 (ex. VAT) + delivery via:

Courier (All insured against loss or damage) Cost (£/AUD) Delivery Time (Estimated)
Royal Mail £15 / $26.65 7 - 21 working days
FedEx £24 / $42.64 1 - 6 working days
DHL £25 / $44.42 1 - 5 working days

This works out to be ~ $518.15 AUD for the phone itself + delivery ($26.65 - $44.42 AUD) depending on who you go with. That's a decent saving over the $749 RRP expected at JB Hifi and Harvey Norman when it finally launches in May.

As always, pay in £ on a credit card which offers no foreign exchange fees and decent rates if possible to get the best price - currency conversion done using Xe.com)

The reviews for Clove Technology seem to be quite good but as this will be a grey import, warranty claims will likely be a PIA. This phone has 24 month warranty attached to it but you'll have to send it back to the UK for servicing.

Yes this has a band 28 but how about a LED notification light? Asking for a peeps here.

    • Sorry no idea, haven't found any information about that so far

Adding another ~$50 and buying OnePlus 5t is better decision…

Considering the Nokia 7+ retails at 400 euro and the OnePlus 5t at 500 euro, I'm thinking this isn't a good price for the 7+. Likely because this is a preorder and the 5t has had a little while on the market.

Once it's actually out if this drops below $500, I'll be jumping on one. While the better hardware in the 5t is nice, I'd rather the build/camera/software support/battery life of the Nokia. The 835 isn't that much faster than the 660 either, because the 660 came midcycle (between the 835 and 845).

Edit: 350 pounds inc VAT is retail price. So there's no real bargain here at all.

Is the camera good? I remember the last nokia phone's camera being disappointing.

      • I'll be jumping on one

warranty will be a PITA though

Kind of expensive for those specs.. SD660.. 4Gb. Rather a similarly priced Xiaomi with better specs.

Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 is a far better deal and at the similar price. Snapdragon 660 vs Snapdragon 835

~$550 for SD660, IPS screen, no water resistance, no stereo speakers, no local warranty.

Doesn't seem like a smart choice with SD820 phones: Xiaomi Mi5 goes down to ~$260 with the right ebay sales, ZTE Axon 7 for ~$300 if you want stereo speakers, or a S7 for ~$500 for water resistance.

    Isn't nokia 8 cheaper

  • No experience with fedex but dhl is really good. Best so far is six days (weekend included) from the Nordics to Tassie, delivered to your door. Should be way less from the UK to the mainland.

  • Clover is a reputable retailer but just be aware they declare the exact amount in custom declaration form so depending on where you are you might get hit with import tax (I'm in NZ and I once purchased a galaxy Nexus from them and was hit with a hefty tax bill)
