  • Do prepaid sims work to get the AFL pass?

    • +4

      Yes

      • +3

With unlimited Telstra Air this is a bargain!

    • +2

      The T&C's say you need a $30 recharge but I don't think it's enforced. I have a $20 something recharge and it's working.

      • Will the afl pass work on it without me having to buy a recharge at all?

        • +1

          Probably yes

  • How many data included?

    • 1GB of data to use in 7 days plus 9GB in the data bank which can be accessed after the first recharge

      • +1

        Only for 7 days?

        • -1

Yep, but just for the 1GB if you recharge and get the bonus 9GB it doesn't expire.

        • +1

@nocure: BS it will expire at the end of recharge unless you keep on recharging in time. Call it a souped up bait package. At least the 180 Coles goes for a full year!

      • +1

That was the case up until the 26th of February. I don't believe that the bonus 9GB is available any more though.

There also doesn't seem to be any mention of included data on the $10 starter kit on the Telstra web site any more - just unlimited calls and texts for 7 days:
        https://www.telstra.com.au/mobile-phones/prepaid-mobiles/10-…

There is a promotion which gives you 10GB in your data bank on your first $30+ recharge on Extra though - you need to recharge by the 30th of April to get it. I think that you'd be better off buying a $30 starter kit for $15 at either Coles or Woolworths than to buy a $10 kit for 50c and then pay another $30 on top…

        • Do $30 Kits come with 10GB data bank without an additional recharge at the moment?

        • +1

          @sween64:

I haven't tried it yet, but the wording in several places suggests that that's the case.

        • +1

          @sween64:
u get 10gig data bank u can use with the$30 starter pack. i did mine 1 and half weeks ago.

        • is the $15 offer still available at coles / Whoolies ?

    • +1

On Telstra Day2Day, you get unlimited calls, text and 100 MB data for $1 credit.

      • thx n validity?

        • +2

          Up to 10 days.

It deducts $1 regardless you call/text/use data.

  • Might buy a heap…. Expiry?

    • +3

The one I got expire on 4/01/19

      • +2

The ones I got are 4th September 2019

  • Are these able to be put on Telstra's long-life pre-paid plans?

    • +3

It can be activated on the new Long Life Plus

I wonder why so many pp want this, i got 1 for free from the last pixel 2 package (together with the earphone) and i never got to use it. Port over just for 7 days? Not worth my effort

    • +2

Dunno about others, but it's useful to activate for visiting family or friends.

    • Totally agree . Seems like a lot of effort for nothing .
I bought my son a $9 phone for his school bag and it came with $10 of telstra credit .
I reckon he must of made about 4 phone calls and it was dead .

  • None in Office Works Spring Hill, Brisbane CBD

I picked up 8 from my local Officeworks.. Still not sure what I'll do with them.

  • Does Telstra require photo ID like Optus do to port? Or is it an easy online port like Kogan?

    • They all had thorough ID checks except Kogan. Kogan now has the same check

      • When did that happen? Last time I ported in with them was only a couple of months ago. Thanks

        • Some time in the last 3 weeks

edit: To be more precise, some time between 20 Feb and 12 March

        • @illumination: How do they manage this when you usually just port in online?

        • @funkybamboo: How did who manage what?

        • @illumination: Sorry if I wasn't clear. How do Kogan request ID when one usually just fills in a form?

        • @funkybamboo: I'm not understanding you lol

All telcos ask for ID and AFAIK, all telcos have "proper" ID checks (now). Kogan previously didn't.

You fill in the online ID check form and (I assume) it's checked against a central database of identification cards (commonly Medicare, Driving Licences, maybe passports in some cases)

        • @illumination: Kogan previously did not do this, that is why I was unclear as to how it was done. Thanks.

  • Do you have to recharge before you can receive calls? i.e. Will the number be active without a recharge?

    • +1

It comes with $10 included credit so can be used right after activation.

  • +2

No stock in Glebe NSW or Alexandria NSW.

  • +1

any stores in VOC still have stock?

    • +3

Maybe you'll be lucky and your username will check out. But I think seeing as this has been up a week, they've been snapped up. Maybe in some obscure country town.

      • +1

yep got mine whilst passing thru Mittagong

        :)

        • You ought to get some kind of award. ;)

  • Not marked as expired, can someone confirm whether this is still available? OP?

  • I'm guessing not. I tried a few weeks ago but none. Perhaps cal officeworks head office and see if they can provide a list of those who might have say 10 or more.
