These are really badly designed apparently. Look at the reviews online. Lid gets reallly hot and the only way to boil more water again is to touch it…..

    • +1

Sacrificing functionality for looks I guess. They really should have the button press flip-style lid like most kettles these days.

That said, I always just fill directly into the spout anyway :p

    • +7

I own one already. Works fine. Boils water. Served its purpose.

      • +3

        how much was it? hehehehe

      • So do kettles costing half or less.

    • +4

I’ve had this kettle for three or four years in white. The lid gets a bit warm but no where near to the point that you can’t use it or you’d burn yourself. I also find it to be less noisy than some past kettles I’ve owned.

Personally I’d recommend it even at the $80 or so I paid for it back in the day. At $40 it seems a great buy.

    • They should try using the handle on the lid.
Source: have this kettle, never had that issue as i use the handle.

    • I've been using one for a few years and works well for me. I wouldn't say it's a bad design (but could be better).

    • +1

Agree with the bad design, my kettle got stuck several times randomly and boiled all the water away.

Now we don't walk away until it boils and it/we turn it off.

    • I bought a knock-off from Aldi. I actually like the design. Most of the kettles have plastic parts inside the kettle. This design doesn't, which is what I like.

    I bought this

    https://www.amazon.com.au/DeLonghi-Icona-Elements-Digital-Ke…

recently from this same sale, and I concur it is very quiet. I think my linked item is also a good buy if you're looking for the adjustable temperature option. It doesn't show you the current temperature though, like my old one used to, but it is a lot prettier.

    • Does it just boil to the temperature you set or it keeps the water at the temperature you set too?

    • Me too, thanks for your post. You convinced me!

Amazon has been offering great deals recently.

  • But I need a silver kettle to go with my cheap 4 slice toaster!

  • Thanks OP. For an extra $13 you can get the Red one which is a nice change from black/silver.

    • link please?

    • Will this have me seeing red if I buy it?!

    $149 for a kettle…..yikes!
    $98 for a kettle…..yikes!
    $39.20 for a kettle…..yikes!

  • Great price. Thanks OP.

How does it compare to Kenwood Kmixer Kettle? almost the same price.

    • +1

      This is cheaper. Sold?

    • I just bought the Kenwood, it's in the same brand group and it looks a lot nicer than the DeLonghi. The problem is I have absolutely no need for it at the moment. I think I have an addiction.

Please share your good reason for me to justify the purchase to the missus.

While I like the colour and style of these stuff
I end up just buying the toaster
Need to manually take up the kettle lid is a bad design for me
My current $20 kettle has a trigger to pop the lid up

  • the review not very good as I know, and there is no hinge to the lid which steam may burn when open the lid. Bad design to me. Same to the digital version

  • This kettle is black

  • Is the kettle navy blue? Looks black

    • It's very dark navy blue

        Thanks. I brought one

          Where to?

        • @ranma: Brought it to the shopping cart, then bought it. ;)

  • I bought this one instead for total of $51:

    https://www.amazon.com.au/DeLonghi-Distinta-Kettle-2001W-Whi…

    Better colour.

  • Is it all metal and rust proof?

    • No way to prevent rusting permanently. I’ve been using it for a year, so far so good.

    • I’ve been using same/similar model since 2013 - no rust yet.

    • +1

I use the same (older) model. Still works perfectly.

7 years old - no rust, no paint flaking.

The only thing - the paint has worn away slightly where I rest my thumb when I hold the handle. Same spot 3 or 4 times a day for 7 years - not surprising really!

The problem with the hot lid that some people have mentioned isn't an issue for me. 95% of the time I fill it when it's cold. If I need to add water when it's hot I just use a tea towel when removing the lid.

  • These are the first good deals I have seen from Amazon AU. Bought a kettle and a matching toaster which retails for $290 down to $78 with free delivery!

  • I bought an iron and toaster from this sale, but Amazon still not shipped. been almost 5 days they have had my money. Anyone one else in same boat?

  • thanks buddy, for $39.20 you won't go wrong…

  • +1
