lol i meant the debt spiral/cycle it would send me into i would be stuck in forever. The only reason I use this site is for cheap as (profanity) quality bargains so i can pretend to live like a middle-class person ha ha

  • LAST ONE!

There are only 1 bottle(s) of Port Ellen 15th Release 32 Year Old (Special Release 2015) Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml) available.

    • But I wanted to buy a dozen, it's better value at $35,988.00.

      • +1

Ah, add one to cart at a time, max: 6 bottles.

Half dozen is better than none. Try 2 accounts? You might get lucky :)

  • +3

As someone who has had (very similar to) this before, I wouldn't advocate spending this kind of coin on it.

Use your money to actually go and visit Port Ellen. I've done it, Islay is an incredible place.

    Sincere apologies for the seriouspost.

    • That's not a bad suggestion. Buy one bottle of booze, or use that $3k for flights, accomodation, and visit a few distilleries. Go and stick an Aussie flag in your one square foot of Laphroaig territory.

  • Hmm.

One bottle of this whisky or 333kg of Panda Honey.

    Hmmmmmm.

    • Do you have storage capacity for 333kg of Panda Honey? If not, the Scotch is the go.

      • +1

You make a strong argument, friend. My Panda Honey capacity is only 250kg.

  • +1

    21.5 cent per drop

    • sure beats 28.5 cents per drop

    • Either way, if you had a 1 drop every night it would last you 38 years. If you think about it, it's quite good value

      • +1

        One teaspoon costs you $20.11.

  • What happens if you drop it in the store before paying?

    • i'd say picking it up and taking it to the counter is a statistically bad decision considering the price of the product. Dan Murphy's is huge, it's quite a journey through that place

    • It won't be on the shelves, surely?

    • Announce "clean up in aisle 4" to no one in particular and take out a straw.

  • +1

    They're reopening the distillery! https://www.diageo.com/en/news-and-media/press-releases/icon…

I wonder if this will reduce the price or increase it by increasing interest?

    edit:
    Here's a more detailed article: https://scotchwhisky.com/magazine/in-depth/16389/the-resurre…

    • Lol, "head of whisky outreach".

  • Does Roboguy supply this??

  • Probably a good investment

  • Pity they only have 6 available, I wanted 7; I'll have to shop elsewhere.

  • Mix it with no frills cola and you are on a high class winner.

  • 68 likes…. 0 sales LOL

  • Only $3K. Worth a try.

This is the best tasting scotch I've ever had. Period. And I'm (well used to be) a scotch drinker, love the stuff. I was fortunate to happen by a whisky festival in Europe that the local whisky association had organised, they had reps from all major and mainstream distributors as well as a good mix of smaller/rare reps. This was one of the latter. It was 32yo at the time, I forget the price, but it was 6 EUR or 12 EUR for a 1cl taste (I had a two) but it was worth it. It was magnificent, one of the last bottles they had. If I had the disposable dollars I'd buy this in a heartbeat. Just hope it's been well looked after.

    Sláinte

  • So you're telling me it can cure cancer?

  • This might only be expensive because it's very rare, not because it's any good.

I have it on good authority that most whiskys this old taste like woodchips and most people don't enjoy them.

  • Buy 4 get one free!

  • If you buy this, I'll pay $100 for a sip.

  • 1 bottle of Whiskey or 300 casks of Goon?

    Hmmm

    • Whiskey has nothing to do with this deal. Whisky for scotch, whiskey for Irish or that American rubbish.

  • Tried the 30 year old when I was in Islay, cost me £50 for a dram.

It was quite nice, but as someone on the island said "there's a reason they stopped making it".

  • +1

shit must be pretty good for this many ozbargainers to be dropping $3k for 700ml. 700ml of water costs $0.0016226. Either 1,848,884.51 litres of water or 700ml of scotch lol

  • +1

Price hasn't increased over the last 3 years, I'd say it's not an investment at all

  • +1

Nice, gonna get one then PayPal dispute it when it arrives empty.

  • Maybe the DM price drop is more an indicator of how much they buy it for, meaning it isn't a good investment.
Every booze, coin or stamp 'investment' I've ever made, in investment terms, has been crap, regardless of the hype. I buy booze, at whatever price I can afford and drink it!
But I know nothing of whisky, except I don't think you can resell it through anyone without a liquor licence which means someone is going to charge you about 15% 'fee', and the buyer 12-15% so factor this in.
Sorry the sequel for being serious.

    • but if you look at the 34 yr old and 36 yr old , theyre both selling for $4k - $5k at dans

so unless this ia a bad vintage (who knows),

I assume they dropped the price just to price match,
dans do try and be he cheapesst
wouldnt be surprised if the price goes back up onec it sells out

if you had invested in japanese whiskies youd be very happy

  • Damn just bought yesterday for $3999. Any chance of difference refund?

  • Does this go well with Coca-cola?

  • PORTia de Rossi ELLEN Degeneres

  • Stop buying the Cheap Stuff and get a real bottle of Whisky

    :)

  • I wouldn't waste money trying to invest in this whisky, it is obvious the big gain in value has already occurred, you will simply become the last bag holder. If you want to invest in an alcohol you have to think outside the box and buy before the value has increased markedly. I recommend Ocho Tequila, it is the only Tequila in the world that goes by vintage and region. https://www.danmurphys.com.au/product/DM_ER_1000002986_OCORE…

  • Can someone explain this to me.. 1978 was 40 years ago, so why is it a 35 year old whiskey? Is 1978 when the grapes started growing?

    • +2

It was distilled in 1978, it was bottled in 2014… whisky only ages in the barrel, not after it is bottled. Hence the age on the bottle is how long it has been in the barrel until bottling. And whisky isn't made (distiled and aged) from fermented grapes (that would be brandy), it is made (distilled and aged) from fermented barley
