    Nice - review here

How do they compare with the Bose QC ?

    • They're primarily about NC and this is primarily about SQ, according to gadgeguy

      • what is SQ?

        • SoundQuality

        • @iampivot: so how is the sq compared to the qc?

        • @Jackson: The SQ is QG compared to the QC but obviously lacks the NC.

    • These aren't noise cancelling, don't have Google Assistant feature. But it does have a 24 hr battery life. More focused on audio quality.

gadgetguy's review mentioned that this model supports google assistant and siri.

"tap and hold to invoke Siri or Google Assistant."-gadgetguy,2018.

        • +1

You are right. I used it for 4 hours and press and hold one side of the ear touch panel invoked Siri for me. Works well.

        • +1

          @goraygo:

This took me way to long to figure out, but you’re supposed to tap the centre twice quickly to activate Siri/google assistant, the holding doesn’t help ;)

          Source: online manual

        • @darkscorpio: actually double tap I think. I only used it a few times. Hehe

      • Jesus, that's a lot of battery!

    • +7

I have QC35 as well as this.

QC35 has better bass than the Yamaha.

However, I can hear a lot more details from my usual playlist compared to QC35.

So it depends, if you love music with lots of details and not big bassy can, then you will be happy. But if you are heavy bassy person who prefer to have bigger bass and lose some details of the music, then go with Bose QC35.

      • what about voice calls?

        • +1

sorry i want to know how comfortable they are.

        • Haha. Haven’t had the need to call anyone yet. Don’t expect it to be great. Bose QC35 isn’t great either.

        • @love2buy: read my post 2 below. :)

      • How comfy is it compared with QC35?

        • +3

QC35 is a lot more more comfy for a guy with glasses.

If I take my glasses off, it’s not a big difference but Bose still slightly more comfy.

I think it’s the angle of the band that muck around with my glasses frame and I have a thick-ish frame.

      • Which ones do you use more?

        • Only got it today. Hehe. Can’t tell yet.

    There's also SHANTELLE18 that applies to Yamaha EPH-W53 Bluetooth IEMS for $150 - $50.

  • +1

How is the sound quality compared to Blue mo-fi or Sony MDR1000…

    • +1

also keen to know how they compare overall to Sony WH-1000XM2

  • Ordered one…hope I won't regret it :)

  • +2

Hi res audio for 150. Worth the gamble.

    • +1

Depends what you want to hear as music is subjective to each individual.

I found it to be ok bass but not great.

However, playing my usual playlist let me hear details I have never heard from my QC35.

So if you are not bass heavy person, this headphone rocks.

      • +1

QC35's in general just don't have very good sound quality, certainly for the price. I have them for the noise cancelling and comfort, like most. Be curious how good these are as I'm looking for another set of closed cans. Big question, this or the Beyerdynamic dt 770? Hmmm.

      • +1

Speaking of bass, try https://open.spotify.com/album/0CQLuftct8Ujw7uLogVdNq at around 7:08. I find the QC35s distort bass when on bluetooth when played loud. How about you?

        • +1

Will try and get back to you later. Wifey not happy I am on the headphone all night already.

        • +2

Ok. Tried on both QC35 and this one, Yamaha is a lot better in sound quality and not muffed like Bose. I can also still hear the details around the bass.

      • +1

Thanks mate. Bought already. Hope it would be a good step up from the Sony zx770.

        • I had the 750bn and this is way better. I never tried 770 though.

If my Yamaha hph-mt220's are anything to go off (not saying they are, but they make me trust Yamaha), these should be pretty good & I might buy a pair. I've been looking for some decent wireless headphones that aren't too expensive.

    • I'm still using the MT220 (the highs are clear and it's like it has built in sub-woofers when watching the Star Wars ep7 trailer). Last year I bought and tried the updated model HPH-MT8 and was disappointed that it sounded muffled compared directly to the MT220 so I gave the MT8 to my dad.

But at this discounted price, I'd like to take a gamble on this W300 and hope it's better than the MT8 but alas I just missed out on this deal :(

      • +1

Ah, that's a shame about the MT8's, never got to try them. Don't worry, I missed out too! Thought I'd have more time to think about it. Oh well.

      • +1

(just making sure you see it) LADYDREWNIAK18 worked for me so give it a go if you're still interested :)

        • Cheers

  • Are they wired or wireless?

      • -3

That’s very childish attitude towards a valid question. Hope you’ll grow up one day.

        • +4

Please accept my apologies. I was not trying to be insulting.
I could have been less… direct.

I regret I've touch a sensitive (if ego based) nerve.

        • +2

          @Chris Farley:

Yes, it appears to support both wired and wireless so your answer is misleading.

        • @Chris Farley: considering you forgot to mention try can also be used wired, you are also providing factually incorrect answers

        • +4

To be honest, I found his response quite funny. The product title says bluetooth (which should obviously mean wireless).

Besides, if you had clicked on the link in the time you took to post your question here, you'd have seen that it supports wired listening as well. It would have been a different story if the information was too hard to find, but it clearly isn't the case here.

    • +2

      Both wired and Bluetooth.

    • +1

Can be used as both, apparently.
Seems to come with a detachable 3.5mm stereo mini plug cable.
NOTE: "High-Resolution Audio compatibility is only available with cable connection"

      • Thanks for clarifying this. I want to use them in flight and wanted to confirm if they work with cable too.

        • You really should get noise cancelling headphones instead if using in flight.

        • you might break your ear drum on a flight without noise cancellation headphone and just use normal because you will ended up cracking up the volume to drown out the airplane noise.

          QC35 is good for plane.

  • +1

    Yahama :)

  • +2

    No mic?

  • +1

Does Yamaha have something like a no question asked return policy like Bose or Apple? I would like to try these but get find any mention of return policy on their site.

    • You only get one of these when it's built into the price, hence Bose and Apple.

If you prefer not being reamed…

  • Good deal. Always been a fan of the good Yamaha headphones.

  • +1

Why can't they just use USB type C ….

  • +1

Any views on how these compare to Sennheiser 4.40BT? I've just bought the 4.40 and wondering whether to open the box or perhaps return them for these instead..

    • I'm interested in knowing this too.

    • +2

Battery is about the same, 24hrs compares to 25 hours
Frequency range 20 Hz – 40 kHz yamaha, 18-22000 Sennheiser (20Hz to 20kHz average for normal human hearing)
price $150 on yamaha vs. $190 on HD4.40
Warranty - 1 year warranty on yamaha, 2 year on sennheiser (international)
Both foldable design - Yamaha will fold flat, Sennheiser fold in
Controls - Yamaha has touch pad controls, Sennheiser has buttons under ear cup

Keep what you have or buy these, doesn't seem to be a huge difference.

      • Thanks very much, appreciate the comment. I bought the HD 4.40 for $160 from OW pricematching wireless1 in case anyone else is comparaing the two.

      • I haven't hear anyone talk about the comfort… I mean comfort is big deal breaker for me, even if t sound really good if it doesn't feel good why brother.

  • +1

Thanks OP, I've been looking at the more expensive noise cancelling models but these will do just fine.

  • +9

Thanks OP! These are absolutely fabulous, my dad's had a pair of these for the past month and I can now tell him i got the same thing for $100 + shipping less! Idk about audiophiles but the sound quality of these is beyond my own audio technica m50x's as well as my dad's previous pair the bose noise cancelling ones that are very popular.

In terms of comments of comfort that people have made above i would like to say that it is heavier than the bose ones, by alot but the fact that its 24hrs battery and a properly bigger over ear headphone that's probably about right.

The sound quality is just fabulous, if you want hard rock or that deep base tone then maybe these aren't for you exactly. It's alot more balanced and i listen mainly to orchestral pieces and i find that the lost lighter tones that you lose in earpieces of lower quality you find in these and more. Beautifully balanced mid range drivers but they can be base strong if you just adjust via software however i'd leave it in the hands of a yamaha employee to set defaults lol, i really don't think i can do better at all.

$250 + shipping was a competitive price, $150? Come on, if these don't blow you right out of the water for that price then stick to the regular $20 a pop earphones instead.

Needless to say i'm a fan of these ^^ go team yamaha!

    • +1

it's wonderful headphones, it's been on my head quite a bit since I got it. I am hearing details I didn't hear before from all my other headphones/earphones.

Am VERY VERY impressed with it.

  • Are these OK to be worn in the gym? I sweat a lot.

    • They won't stay on for one, kinda heavy and the abundance of leather will imprint two steamy circles around your ears. Headphones not work out wireless earbuds

  • Proper aptX support? Interesting…

  • He did not negotiate, he's an affiliate.

  • Coupon code not valid?

    • I'm getting the same right now. Seriously? I was so excited! 😭

      • +2

I’ve update the code according to Benno123’s post. Get in quick before it’s gone!

        • Thanks for the update OP!

    • +6

Oh crap. Some guys here ordered it ok.

I just gave it a try and it is not working!

I guess this code has a quota??? I will mark this post expired then. :(

    • +1

Code expired isn't a reason to neg.

  • +1

    Code no longer working.

    • Thanks for letting us know.

    • +1

Updated it with Benno123’s info. Try now before it’s gone.

  • These are the best sounding bluetooth headphones I have ever purchased. I just wish the earcups were a little bigger.

  • +6

Just a heads up, there's a bunch of other codes floating about that still work (ends March 31st). I bought a pair with the code LADYDREWNIAK18 but you can flick through photos here to find others: https://www.instagram.com/p/Bg22KHDnwrw/?taken-by=yamahaavau

    • +2

Thanks mate. This code worked like a treat. Just ordered a pair.
Free shipping is icing on top :)

    • Thanks. I will update the post with your new details.

  • Annoyingly, I doesn't seem to let me add the item to the cart using Firefox on Android, guessing JavaScript sulks. Gonna try PC later.

    • +1

Same with FF on PC, I had to use Chrome. Dumb web design.

    • Works on Microsoft Edge mobile browser for me.

  • +2

I was sad I missed out on the discount, but I knew as soon as I woke up this post would be updated thank you ozbargain community you rule.

  • +1

Needed one for my office. Noise cancellation not important as I don't share with anyone. So … thanks OP!

  • +1

The code still works for me. Just ordered now.

  • +1

Thank you OP! Just ordered the headphone and earbud.

  • +1

Thanks OP! I just pull the trigger on these cans. It is pretty much what I have been holding out for - don't care for NC but want great sound with Aptx support for a decent price. This is it!

  • +1

Would these be ok for Walking on a Treadmill?

Pictures look like they may get a little Warm?

    • It’s not really for sports. All headphones aren’t really for sports as you really get heated ears. :)
