  • When can you use your flybuys?

    • +1

Whenever it's in line with terms and conditions…

  • Sucks how they make it one per household, but good deal nonetheless!

    • +1

If you purchase the limit of 10 cards, does that mean you will only get 2000 points?

      • I believe so, unless you use different flybuys cards I think.

  • +11

Noo after the long weekend this feels like a bit of effort for $4.05?

    • Use Coles eGC to buy these, net more profit.

      • anywhere to get the discounted ones for free

        • You want free gift cards….?

        • +1

@illumination: i meant like woolworths to cashrewards - you dont need to buy cashrewards compared to like AGL

      • +1

Last time girl said eGC is not allowed at the counter. Can you just use self-check out?

        • Never had a problem at self checkout. You will need to get approval but they don’t usually worry about how you paid.

        • @wxyz234: they don't work with the new self checkout interface any more. it'll give you some kind of peyment error, and i've tried it on two occasions. they asked me to go and try paying again at the manned checkout but also didn't work.

only woolworths still allow paying by gift cards but there are rumours they're blocking that as well.

        • @iSamurai:

only woolworths still allow paying by gift cards but there are rumours they're blocking that as well

That's concerning, is there a place where you heard/saw this?

        • @iSamurai: no problem when I last used it a month or so ago.

        • @MathNerd: it was on another gift card thread on ozbargain… sorry not sure which one, probably a month or two ago.

        • @iSamurai: just purchased with e-gift card at self checkout. All ok.

        • @wxyz234: were you able to split payment or you had to do the whole transaction in one go?

        • @iSamurai: tried split payments previously and hasn’t worked, so now I only do it in single transaction.

        • @wxyz234: Use a Coles GC first and it will work.Pay full amount, get declined, promopt you to use the existing balance, press proceed,PIN again, first partial done.

You need to always pay full by using a Coles GC first, not press mixed payment by yourself.

        • @Neoika: thanks, tried it today and it worked, second time though.

I have a gift card that wasn't large enough for the entire shop, so that was declined somehow. it didn't prompt me to use the remainder balance like it should. Another gift card I had that is sufficient for the entire transaction was accepted.

        • @iSamurai: I dont think the amount is the issue.I used $5 eGC to buy a $105 GC and it let me to use $5 first last month.Just pay full as if you dont know the card balance(must be a card that Coles system knows its balance).

  • This is a great! There’s always a good musical just around the corner.

  • Has anyone tried the EFTPOS cards? I’m looking for one where I can transfer money into it and it appears instantly - not one where I have to wait a day for the money to appear

    • Money transfers are not instant so no EFTPOS card will let you spend money until they have received it.

      • Bugger, thanks

        • The fastest and cheapest would be to use an EFTPOS card with a bank account.

        • @spaceflight: I need it to be an anonymous card though - so just a plain refillable one. The post office might have some options

  • What size are the dinner and movie gift cards?
We spend $20-$30 on popcorn and drinks, but usually have movie tickets via vouchers so if I can use this at Village candy bar it feels like a win/win.

  • Thanks OP.

  • From what I can recall you can avoid surcharges with this card at places like Aldi by pressing ‘savings’ at checkout.

    • Yeah, but that still doesn't get around the purchase fee..
Press "savings" anywhere (as they tell you to) and won't get additional surcharges.

  • Is dinner and movie the actual name of the giftcard or does it refer to any dinner giftcards like good food and best restaurant?

    • +1

actual giftcard looking at the picture above.

      • Thanks. Quite literal name for a GC

  • How long are the Ticketek cards valid for once purchased?

    • Legally it must be more than 3 years if sold in NSW or delivered electronically to a person residing in NSW

      http://www.fairtrading.nsw.gov.au/sites/ftw/About_us/Legisla…

      • Interesting. I just bought a Ticketek card here in Victoria and it says only 12months.

        • not sure about Ticketek, I'll have to check next time I'm at Colesworth.

Online T&C's for dinner and movie card says:

*NSW residents: Movie Cards delivered to a NSW address will have a 3-year validity period from date of issue. Movie Cards delivered to an address that is outside NSW will have a 12-month validity period from date of issue. Dinner cards will have a 12-month validity period throughout Australia. Full terms and conditions can be read here.

I think for some types of gift cards you have to press ‘credit’ eg the last Coles Gift MasterCard offer(which also offered 2000 flybuys for $100 card). With that one the method of payment wasn’t approved when I pressed ‘savings’ but when I tried again with ‘credit’ it was ok.

    • +1

That’s a prepaid credit card, this is an eftpos card and uses savings.

  • +2

It says "limit of 10 giftcards per transaction" but then "bonus points can only be collected once per flybuys household"
So if you buy 10 cards in one transaction do you get only 2,000 points or 20,000 points?

    • +2

I think it means you can buy 10 at once but will only get 2,000 points for doing so.

  • You would have to use 10 different flybuys cards in 10 transactions to get 20000 points.

    • They've always got a stack of 'new signup' cards at my local Coles, grabbing a few of them might work?

      • you can't redeem points on unregistered cards

        • Why not? Buy and scan the new flybuys card, register later the points will still come through

  • Never had a problem paying with discounted Coles digital gift cards, last did it 2 weeks ago.

    • At self-check out?

  • For Dinner$Moive gift card. Can I use the full amout for movies?

  • +1

When wollies have a limit of 3 or something coles is always one. Least woolies gives you points adding up to its total value.

  • gonna buy a coles eftpos card to buy a discounted woolies egiftcard. my $50 Opal top-up will cost me $43.65

    • how do you buy an e-gift card with an EFTPOS card? I could understand buying a normal gift card a EFTPOS since it needs to be done in person and not online

      • right…i'm confused now.
        huhuhu:(

        | My shattered dreams and broken heart
        | Are mending on the shelf
        | I saw you holding hands standing close to someone else
        | Now I sit all alone, wishing all my feeling was gone
        | I gave my best to you
        | Nothing for me to do
        | But have one last cry
        | One last cry
        | Before I leave it all behind
        | I've gotta put you out of my mind, this time
        | Stop living a lie
        | I guess I'm down to one last cry

  • does $50 EFTPOS card also get 2000 points??

    • Yes it does, it's any of those cards above.

      • Hi mate
Did you get your points buying a $50 eftpos ?

  • +1

Buy Woolies e-gift card (5% discount) to buy Visa $100 + free DJ $10 at Woolies. Then use $100 Visa to buy $100 EFTPOS + 2000 FB points through cashier with split payment? Is this possible?

    • yes

      • Depending on the staff, you might not be allowed to pay gift cards with prepaid credit cards.

Also, self-checkout doesn't allow you to do split payments on gift cards.

    • Only for $50 eftpos as cant do split payments.

      • split payments can be done if you buy through a cashier

    • $100 Visa + $5.95 fee = $100.65 using Woolies e-gift @ 5%

      $50 EFTPOS + $5.95 fee = $44.05 left on Visa

      So for $100.65 you've got $10 DJ + $44.05 Visa + $50 EFTPOS + 2000 points which is $114.05 all up in value?

  • Yes, in response to lufee.

  • +1

Are you saying I could be $4.05 richer woohoo

    • +1

No,just mean you have a chance to get something worth $4.05 for free after you spend all the credits on that GC.Card issuer knows one in ten cards wont be used up anyway so that they surely wins.

  • Where can you use the EFTPOS gift cards ?
Are they wide accepted ? Like in supermarkets and for topping up your MYKI card ?

    • +2

*You could try using it to top up your Myki at a physical machine, but the website only takes Mastercard/Visa so it wouldn't work there. Should work at Woolworths/Coles for your shopping no problem I imagine.

*Please note above statements are purely speculative and I cannot be held accountable in any way for any embarrassment caused to people who actually listen to me.

      • +1

Thanks Lucky ! I bought one yesterday and will give it a try.

    • Eftpos gift cards - pay rego at VicRoads counter, pay council rates at the counter (in Vic just go to the library), shop at Aldi (No fee), school fees, anywhere with eftpos machine.

  • When do we receive the points?

    • Next day after midnight

      • thanks.

Fcuk just bought from coles express…

  • +1

Did anybody get the points for the Eftpos card yet?

  • If you've bought a Ticketek voucher and don't need it, please let me know: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/371022

  • I bought a card on Wednesday and the 2000 points did not get credited yet. I only got the 106 points for the purchase.
Does anybody know if the points supposed to be credited at the same time or the bonus points are delayed?

    • +1

I bought $50 one and got 2k pts already.Maybe something unusual with the $100 ones due to the new activation fees.I am sure Flybuys will sort it out in a few days.

      • Yes when I bought them previously the bonus points were credited at the same time of the normal points.
I hope I do not have to waste time on the phone to ring flybuys for it.
        When did you buy yours?

      • I bought a $100 EFTPOS and didn't receive the bonus either.

        • I think something is gone wrong at flybuys. Hopefully they will fix it for everyone. Not too confident though…

        • @maxi: As above, I bought a $50 card and the points were credited the next day. There must be an issue with the processing of points for the $100 cards.

        • Did anyone ring flybuys for the missing $100 cards bonus yet?
Just wondering if they are going to sort it out for everyone or if everyone that has purchased the $100 cards needs to ring them.

        • +1

I called this morning (I bought a $88 EFTPOS gift card) and the customer service said they are aware of the issue and the back office is fixing it. I got the bonus point adjustment already this evening but my spouse's flybuys is yet to be credited, so I am hoping that they are rolling out the fixes very soon.

        • @feihong: $88 EFTPOS gift cards are Chinese New Year special cards, are surely excluded from this promotion.I think they are just being courteous to honor it.As there are loads of them in Woolies too, they might run other promotions to get rid of the stock.

        • @Neoika: The catalogue does say any EFTPOS gift card is eligible for 2000 points, and if Woolies is keen to clear out the stocks, then this promotion should do a good job :D

        • @Neoika: It said $50 or more. So $88 card will count.

        • @feihong:
No fixes as at today yet.
I may wait to Wednesday when the promo bonus points ends before I ring them. Did they keep you on hold for a long time?

        • @maxi: I called at 9AM sharp so it was quite easy to get through. I do hope that they get bombarded with calls so that they will roll out the fixes ASAP!

  • I have just spent 20 minutes on the phone with flybuys and they credited my points but I was told that THERE ARE NO FIXES COMING!!!
So unless we ring we do not get any points.

  • I rang but was told they would only manually credit the points after 4 weeks have passed. This was the guidance from their supervisor. The reasoning being is if they manually credit points, and then they flow through as part of the promotion, the points are doubled. I did mention that in the past they have come through the next day, and there is no fine print of an up to 4 weeks wait in the catalogue, but I'm fine with waiting as I would need to ring up 4 times to get the points for each family members' account. Though this may still happen if after 4 weeks there are no points added.

  • Every time a different answer!!!
I do not think the points will come through automatically. If they were they would have already as normally this type of bonus is credited the next day.

  • Well I suppose the hope is that if enough people ring, someone with the ability to fix it will be notified.

  • The points have come through on all accounts, dated the 11th April.

  • Yes mine came through as well
