  • when will it end?

just two days, today and tomorrow, updated OP. thanks

  • Is this safe for plastic within the engine bay?

    • i have the same question.
i actually bought this the other week (2 for $5) and i sprayed a bit on exterior plastic to see what happens. to me it seems like its just a de-greaser/wd40 even and nothing else and then it washes away sooner rather than later.

    • I used it many times for exterior plastics, didn't happen anything except they became to look better.

What? My head hurts after reading that.

Hi hero, do you want me to find some bargains on pain killers? :)

I use this stuff on car / motorcycle plastics and they come up great. Bit expensive to use on tyres

    • This stuff doesn't really stick too well, for black plastics use a trim detailer. Alot more expensive of course, however you don't use much so you'll need one bottle ever 3 years.

I use 303 Protectant on the tyres (too) and it's fantastic!
It creates a "new" rather than pimp (aka shiny) look and last a long time. You only need a couple of drops on each tyre.

      $29!!!

      • +2

It’s probably the equivalent of 7 cans of export but with better results. You get what you pay for.

    • how long does it last exactly? 1 month? 6 months? a year? Just so we know if the 29 is worth it.

    • +2

use dry rags after applying 'tyre shine' if you don't like that shiny finish…

    • Just wipe the tyre with a cloth and it goes to a nice sheen rather than shine.

    • Why? 303 will offers no durability on external tyres and trim. It is also expensive compared to better options
303 was one of the best interior protectants around but that was 10 years ago

      • Do you know any better perhaps? I'll buy that instead if you do.

  • I've always used this on tires and car plastics. Usually spray, let it settle in for 5m, then wipe off. Good price

Any good for a bald head? It's greasy.

    • Or a bald knob?

  • Needed this over the weekend…tyres got a bit dry

  • Be careful when spraying this stuff, I'd recommend a face mask of some sort and in an open area.
I've got over spray from years ago in the driveway and those marks are still there. They repel even water which is a worry

    • +2

have you tried spraying the marks with WD40 and then scrubbing with dish washing liquid?

      • just use a pressure cleaner, but probably even a garden hose with a nozzle will be fine…

    • I've tried all sorts of degreasers, cleaners etc it's like a nano waterproof coating. Might work on fabrics too like Scotch Gaurd 😂

    • Brake cleaner

I find using this makes my rims dirtier after a few drives..

    • spray the tires not the rims!

      • Yeah mate 😂😂 I spray the tyres..

    Not for motorcycle tires :|

I've been using this stuff for 20 years and can't speak highly enough of it - basically use it to return any old plastic / rubber to a new like finish. At first I was worried continued use would degrade the external plastics of the car but I haven't noticed any long term harm after years of use over many different vehicles. For $2 this is the bomb - my only regret is having a cupboard full of it already so I can't take advantage of this deal. Just a note on the rims, this can be used to spray on a reasonably clean rim and then wipe it off to get in-ground brake dust and grime off but as mentioned above if you dont vigorously clean it off it leaves a sheen which is a magnet for further brake dust.

heat gun old car plastics… then it is new again. not, "like new"…youtube

  • I'm another whose been using this for years. I find it better than some of the more pricey brands (I'm talking about $4-7 range, not $29 stuff which is probably, hopefully superior - apples and oranges), this stuff is pretty good. Supercheap had a deal on 6 cans back in 2014, I bought 12 I think, and I'm down to 1 can now so time to stock up again.

It doesn't last forever but stays on for a decent length of time between applications. For $2 it's a no brainer. And probably common sense but if it's not for some, consider scrubbing down your tyre side walls a bit before application if they're a bit dirty. This'll bond better to a clean surface.

The cons: it does produce a rather shiny look but that wears off after a day or 2 turning into a sheen, or if it really bothers you just wipe it down 5 minutes after application. I just leave it on.

Another potential tip: (disclaimer: I haven't tried this myself) is to use it on the windscreen before rain or during a heavy spell of rain, apparently it acts like Rain-X. Get another opinion first. I'll test it next time we get some rain.

    • +2

Yeah nah… Don't use it on your windscreen. If anything it made the rain stick to my window more than usual. Terrible idea that one.
