  • Just picked one up from Airport West, VIC after received the call from the staff during lunch time. I asked whether there will be more coming in or not since my friend wants one also. He said as far as he knows, there will be no more order coming in for this and all 20 machines, that just arrived, have been paid advance in full already.

  • is this wireless b/g/n or b/g
    mine says b/g/n
    .
These are eligible for the $39 cashback—>LU.NAH0D.140

    • Mine is 802.11 b/g/n also

  • +1

just called over 20 OW stores across NSW. all answered "no stock" except campbelltown, which took my number down for a call back insert 25 minute wait Im now talking to the rep who says "we have 6 left in stock" I say oh yeah, put me down for one I'll be there in 45mins. She says okay let me tell the guys out back…. insert 2 minutes wait "sorry the last one just got sold" :(

    • haha lol

      • yeah I lolled too, right after I screamed out "*%$# so close" haha oh well..

might try price match at jb or harvey norman? tell him he's dreaming

        • Any idea the one sold at jb hifi eligible for cashback?

        • @ZaFrOoNaLdO
yeah it should be because it doesn't matter where you buy it it only matters the sku/model/product of it

  • i would still buy it for $199 if they price match it regardless of the cashback

  • what are the chances of price matching anyways?

    • idk but if i were to guess i would say slim because i think it may be close to cost price but idk
      best to try
bring in a catalogue to several stores which sell this netbook and ask to pricematch or even get near it because you still have to $39 cashback
and also you could still pay $239 and end up with $200 at the overall cost as you said you were to be happy with $200 w/o cashback
EDIT: i just installed W7 Ultimate and it works!

  • Oxley Brisbane all sold out after receiving 30 this morning. According to one staff member, they weren't expecting any more.

  • Fairy Meadow received 37 today, all pre-sold. Even the Display unit was gone today!

  • yesterday i was told 33 were coming in today and today they changed their mind and said they ahve none coming in. JB will not price match because they do not have that particular netbook (apparently).

  • please do not heartbreak if you missed this offer.retailers here are so greedy and poor customer services and this is the price they should be selling in the first place.sooner or later we will be buying 15.6" laptop with more spec and better quality for less than $400.have a nice day.

  • harvey norman stocks this but with windows xp at 299

  • Anyone find one in Melbourne or know any stores that are willing to pricematch?

  • I just managed to grab the last one at West Ryde in Sydney.
North Sydney apparently have 12, but when I called they are all on hold. May be worth calling them to put your name down in case anyon drops out and doesn't collect.

  • seems like the eastern states are getting there orders a lot sooner than us Adelaide people :)

If anyone in Adelaide gets one please let me know! I pre paid for mine on the 31st of December!

  • wtf west ryde!!! i called up yesterday and the sales guy said all unit were gone, stupid sales guy, it looks like i missed out on a good bargain again!!! just like the 199 ps3 at toysrus few weeks ago.

  • went all over brisbane but sold out only in virginia left 1 and i got mine for $185…ex demo unit..not bad with $39 cashback for $141 with 1 year warranty

  • any stock left?

    • You'll have to call around…it's on the front page of their latest brochure, not a secret.

      • not call around - drive around. see my post above. i called over 20 stores yesterday, all said no stock, yet people have posted after that they picked up a model from those stores, including nafe who got one at ryde today!

        • You'd think with all the time & petrol wasted (& no guarantee of getting one at any of the stores) it wouldn't really be worth it in the end unless you really need a pc now….if not i think you'd better off waiting till eofys to get a better model & deal by then. Never know they might even be down to $150 by then?

        • If you're lucky enough to get a price match, good on ya! I want one, but i think i'll wait given my chances of getting my hands on one are very slim…

        • I actually called them first, and the guy said he had one available, so I told him I would be round to pick it up.

The problem is most people have pre-paid for them, so when the stock comes in it's allocated to their orders immediately. Sydney CBD got 30 of them in, but had 27 preorders, and the other 3 sold out in an hour.

North Sydney wouldbe my bet, the system showed 12 in stock, so I doubt they were pre-paid for, but were merely on hold. If anyone didn't pick theirs up, it would have been released for sale.

  • i guess, they will not getting anymore stock..probably newer model will be introduced..probably with the introduction of Atom N570 CPU..who knows..all stock in brisbane sold out within 1 hour after it arrived..and no more stock left online, the link was not available

  • just called officeworks trinity gardens again. They said they're only getting stock for the people that pre-paid and then no more. They expect delivery on Monday

  • +1

Just want to thank windowshopper for the post.
Paid for one before the catalogue came out.
    Only way to secure it.

As for more stock, it's all up to ACER now.
They could easily manufacture more units but I think the cash back kills the profits.

As johndoe123 said, a new model will most likely be released. My guess is by March/April.
It won't be $199, more like $299 and may or may not have cash back.

  • For those in vic interested in one of these, Officeworks Glen waverley had about 4 left when i went in to get one @ 5 pm. Call the staff there to see what they have left before heading in.

And also for those that were interested in ordering in, i asked Glen waverley about that and they said some people have been doing that but since tuesday they have been instructed not to do that anymore as acer may not have anymore stock to give them. So they might end up with a backlog of orders if no more of the emachines come in.

  • Been patient in checking with other OW stores in Sydney, got lucky to find out there are 6units in stock at Five Dock along parramatta road. Didnt allow me to place two units on hold, asked a friend who lives in Croydon to get it for me. They bought one for themselves as well and there was only 1 left after. Most likely its gone now.
Checked the P/N and its qualified for the $39 cashback. This is a bargain! Thanks windowshopper for posting this!!!!

  • Big thanks from me as well, just sent off the cashback. I used good old Norton Ghost (ver 15) to create a backup before anything else though. After booting into Windows I can see there's an eMachines Recovery Management tool but if you get a virus or your Windows install becomes corrupted and you can't boot into Windows it's not going to do much good. I used the instructions on the web page below to create a bootable USB stick (there's no CD/DVD drive on the laptop) with Ghost on it.

  • Finally got the call from oworks trinity gardens. My netbook is here!! :) Hopefully it is the right serial number

    Thanks OP for the post

    • Picked up from them too after receiving a phone call just before noon, part number is LU.NAH0D.140, $39 cash back here I come!

      Thanks OP for the post.

      • awesome! hopefully all the laptops are the same part number :) any idea on how many they had in stock?

        • this laptop is awesome! Got the cash back too. Can't believe it was so cheap.

        • aw cant reply to bleemo. think 5replies is the max. limit

but yeah and running great too! win7starter and webcam and 160gig hard drive and everything. very very good!

  • i picked up the last one (apparently) @ Blacktown.. my part number is LU.NAH0D.140

should i bother putting w7 ultimate on it?

    • probably not unless you have a specific reason to. the starter is more than enough for the netbook. i've just installed all the programs i need in one go from: http://ninite.com/
it's a pretty neat site which has a tick list for free alternatives to programs (also much more netbook-spec friendly) i.e. foxxit, openoffice, etc and creates an .exe which both downloads and installs them for you.

  • Any still left around Sydney ??

  • Call office works on the 1300 number, they are taking phone orders. Placed an order for $204.00 delivered. Stock is limited

  • Got one from OW Dee Why today! They had restocked it, in past it was all sold out in that store. Came to know about it by calling the 1300 number, so call them if you want one and they should tell if a store has got any.

  • Regarding the Cashback, has anyone received theirs. Website doesn't even acknowledge I sent anything in. It does say up to 6 weeks blah blah, but at least they can tell you yeah, we got your documents.

  • Just got my confirmation

  • Just picked one up at Rick Hart in Victoria Park, WA, have 13 more available… But didn't actually buy it there. Was in there on the weekend and they have it for $298. Told the guy officeworks have it for $199 and he didn't believe it was the same model (incidentally cd-wow also wouldn't price match officeworks as they claimed although it was the same model code the fact that theirs had XP meant it didn't match). Was at Mandurah Rick Hart a couple of days later n they had it with no price tag, told him about the officeworks deal and he quoted $198 but had no stock so I bought it there and went back to Vic Park the next day and picked it up, making sure the '$298 is the best price' attendant saw me.

  • Does anyone got any link or a copy of catalog so i can try price matching

    Cheers
