GoDaddy.com is offering $1.49 domain names with the coupon code NEWYEAR11

I was googling for GoDaddy discount codes and came across this. Valid for new domains and transfers. I know this isn't as good as some of the other offers, but I'm still happy with it and it's the only one I can find that is valid at the moment.

Register or transfer any available .COM, .US, .MOBI, .BIZ, .NET, .ORG, .CA, .CO.UK and .IN domain for just $1.49!*

Applies to the first year only of new or transfer registrations. This offer may not be used for renewals, bulk registrations, premium domains or Sunrise/Landrush domain registrations. Limited to one order per customer, expiring after 10,000 redemptions or on January 26, 2011 (whichever comes first). Discount will be reflected in your shopping cart; cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer or promotion. Customers may not use gift cards, PayPal® or AliPay to redeem this offer.
* Plus ICANN fee of 18 cents per domain year when applicable.

  • GoDaddy also had a "31% Off" deal (no min spend). If anyone's interested it's: "gda1241c"

For VoIPers, they even have a 02-landline no. to order through!

Their making it easy to buy domains… :-)

  • This is a great offer…

TIP: If you get 4 -more- "throw-away" domains (eg, some .INFO's - that can be cheap presents for friends… ;-) …you get Private Rego's for all 5.

BTW, we recommend getting .NET domains, where applicable, as .NET is now a safer "tree" to be under (for tech. reasons).

    Enjoy!

    PS: 1x .NET + 4x .INFO's cost: ~USD $10.00 = -fewer- AU$'s ;-)

    • Actually, a US$ 10.35 cost got charged to me as Au$ 10.47
(perhaps a conversion fee is in therem somewhere…?)

Those 5 domains are still cheap!

(Of course, they get more costly to renew, in a year…)

    • Free privacy is only for the first year, so if you don't change your settings the privacy service fee can exceed the registration fee.

Also the privacy service is handled by a different company, and requires you to request a seperate username and password — you should do this straight away or be faced with an inability to change settings in time later on.

1&1 are unpopular for extra bureaucracy required (faxing Germany?) for non-renewal, however, they're usually very cheap, and they include the privacy service for free on request.

Perhaps register cheaply with GoDaddy and their privacy deal, then transfer the domains you plan to use or retain over to 1&1… (or you could always use a pseudonym.)

    • What do you mean by .NET is "safer"?

  • Does anyone know if this Offer applies to (new?) .CO domains?

After we reg'd our share of the available stock, GoDaddy.com's
place-hoder page offered us .CO domains… clicking got us a pretty high annual-price: Au$ 29.61

Are any other new "last names" coming into availability in 2011?

    • darn those greedy Columbians, these prices wouldn't be going down anytime soon

also these "last names" are TLDs, Top Level Domain.

  • If any webmasters on here want to link exchange send me a message!

  • How many days do you have to wait before you can transfer the domain name to another host?

    • Errr… Host?

The price is for a domain name, not hosting. I assume they will give you free parking page, but that is all (and totally useless to anybody).

You need to set the NameServers to point the domain to your own hosting account (can do that a few seconds after you register it).

There is no point "instantly" transferring the domain away to another Registrar, you have a whole year to do that.

  • Thank you so much!

Anyone able to recommend some good hosting? Cheap package at all?

    • Google it, and I literally mean Google….

Google sites, blogger, Google Apps should be sufficient for a simple site and couple of email accounts.

  • +1

does anyone know what appears on the godaddy whois? I dont mind my name appearing, but address, im not a fan of (although a simple google of my full name displays my address lol). This assumes i dont enter it with an ABN

    • +1

you can choose the privacy option, but as the post above says its only free for the first year

  • +1

everything appears mate, addy, name, phone number, email.. get whois if you're serious about it..

    • thanks

    • Another reason to get a USA postal redirection account (if you can afford the subscription.)
