Agree, I have been an Apple fan boy for last 10 years and moved on, as my photos storage kept growing and now i am not putting up with this shit of fixed storage.
No SD card option, thank you. Moving to samsung.

      • True, My next move from g6 would be a Pixel device.

    • Yes, it's an interesting perspective - I know it's a good phone but anything above a $1k is just too much for a phone. For any phone, no matter how brilliant they are so I'm holding onto my iPhone 7.
But apparently I'm a minority with this view seeing so many Xs around me :)

      • Because people are locking themselves into silly contracts and end up paying even more for the phone over 24 months.

I'd rather stick with prepaid where I currently pay $12.33 per month for 6GB and unlimited calls, you can't find this on postpaid for the price + phone repayments on top.

If I can't afford a phone outright, I'm not getting one. I've not always thought like this but I know it saves a lot of money.

  • price match in Officework or Apple store?

I still can't understand how they can sell these much cheaper than Apple given the low margin that re sellers get for Apple products.

    • In this case, they have put the price above RRP and allowed eBay to cover a portion of the discount (possibly 10%, I'm not sure), this allows them to keep a profit most likely and allow us to get a discount.

      • Sellers get charged a 10.9% fee looking here: https://www.ebay.com.au/help/selling/fees-credits-invoices/s…

        • That isn't the same, that's a normal seller fee but commercial sellers and co-funded sellers have a much different fee structure.

E.G The Good Guys would probably only pay about 4% normally because of the traffic they generate, maybe even less.

        • @doweyy:

Thanks for clarifying, I wasn't aware of that :)

    • They make a loss on these, I have no doubt. When I last checked there is about 5% margin on retailers with Apple products, someone else here may have more up to date info on this? They make the money on warranties/insurance and accessories.

      • So if they loose money, why should they sell them?

I would say that the margin for Apple products should be higher in Australia but definitely not more than 20% and then if you take into account the ebay seller fee, the final price doesn't make any sense.

I personally don't trust the whole thing and won't buy any Apple from ebay.

The departmental stores (e.g. officeworks) used to have and sell Apple products in ebay but they got rid of them obviously because they didn't make money from that.

        • You are fully protected if you are paying via PayPal and all warranty claims can go directly to Apple so it makes no difference where you buy it from.

  • All the iphone X 265GB are sold out now, gone within 2 days, I was looking at getting one but the price is still high, I'm not see great savings on the iphone 8 plus 256gb at the moment, these phone seems to get a bigger discount but hopefully pick one up sooner or later.
